Sorry, but it was not Yoshi's howler that caused the goal, it was a poor pass back after a complete cock up by Gazza with this awful pass out, and quick thinking by Dyer. Unfortunately though the real problem was the lead up to the goal in the first place. Jack Cork had a very good game, but he was squarely to blame for fannying about with the ball in the middle of the park and then making a completely unnecessary pass back to Yoshi. Puts a defence under pressure when there is no need. When you are slightly nervous at the back the last thing you need is dodgy balls back from midfield. Shocking decision making by Corky, for me otherwise he would probably have been man of the match. I agree Yoshi and Gazza should have dealt with it, but the root cause of the problem was not with either of them. We play the ball back into defence far too often in my opinion, sometimes the better option is simply to turn and belt it up field, when who knows what might happen.

Agree with you completely on the 2nd half. Like you I was too far away at the match for the one in the first half, but having just watched Match Choice on Sky it was a bit lame, but I still wouldn't class it as a dive. 1st one in the 2nd half the pundit on Sky was sucked in and thought it was a dive because AL was alreay falling when the foul came in, not true, AL was turning to go left, when Williams clattered him. Last one was just blatant body check by Monk, only doubt with that one was whether it was in the area, but I believe it was. Lallana proved time and again in the game that he is not a diver, staying on his feet many times when he was clattered.

Careful, you cannot spout logic on here and get away with debunking Mr T's conspiracy theories that he likes to make up in between his telesalesist life. Mr T has told us that Don Cortese picks the team, chooses the players, inserts clauses into contracts, decides on the formation to be used, and the times of the substitutions. There is no doubt about the factual content of Mr T's posts, so you of course must be imagining things, like the rest of us. Looked very much like the same way we have played more often that not this season, albeit with Jack Cork making a noticeable difference, and Luke Ward knowing how to play at left back.

Comedy defending, but the goal was caused by the midfield, I think it was Cork, fannying around with the ball and eventually passing it back and putting Yoshi and gazza under unneccessary pressure. Sure thy should have done better, but we shot ourselves in the foot by schoolboy error in the middle of the park. Lucky we didn't get caught a few more times when Gaston gave the ball away cheaply on 2 or 3 occassions.

This is just absolute crap. We go tin behind them loads of times today, on both sides. Also it was great seeing NA not making subs for the sake of it. None were needed today (apart from Fox for Shaw) and NA called it absolutely right. Still easy for TDD to have a pop on the basis of nothing.

Have you heard anyone in media / football saying Adkins should go?
VectisSaint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
No, what they do instead is trot out the "Adkins is under pressure from the board" line, even though they have no idea whether he is or is not. It then becomes self-fulfilling. -
I hope this is a joke. I wasn't convinced it was until I got to the Chaplow remark.

Appleton leaves the skates and joins Blackpool
VectisSaint replied to NorthamSteve's topic in The Saints
Trouble is Glasgow is not the only one, the BBC seem to have the same trouble: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20237630 2006: Following Brian Laws's departure to Sheffield Wednesday, Atkins is named S****horpe manager. -
But only one person was prepared to put his money where his mouth is, well 2 I guess if you count Mummy's Boy fronted by MLT. If we were such a great investment and anyone could see it why were there not dozens of others beating a path to our door with wedges of spondoolicks?

No he hasn't, Turkish started all this. Just like he started the Gazza to Brizzle City rumour :-)

So does anyone have any genuine knowledge (not rumour) about the Boruc situation. I posted a couple of comments pre-match last night expecting Boruc to play because there was a statement last week from Saints that the issue had been investigated and he had been cleared. Then it turns out watching Sky that the issue has not been resolved. Sometimes it would be useful to know what the feck is actually going on at Saints. I cannot believe it takes over a week to sort that out, either he did something wrong, fine him or sack him, or he didn't do anything wrong in which case play him or at least put him on the bench.
-
Hoddle cannot manage without Gorman. Like Clough and Taylor, you either have both or none.
-
Its not the NA being sacked that would really worry me (though I'd be disappointed) its the Plan B that would be really worrying. Les Reed and Dean Wilkins caretaker manager for our upcoming important games, we tried with Wilkins once before, please note again. The time for Adkins to have gone was 3 or 4 weeks ago, not now.
-
Is he OK? Must have missed that.
-
True, although it was based only on the 2nd half when we were chasing the game. Even so we did look a shambles in the middle.
-
Why would be want a complete wuss like Savage (Savage by name but not by nature).
-
The fact that Saints came out and said that after studying the video evidence there was no case to answer last week seems to have been missed by some.
-
Boruc incident was cleared up last week by SFC on Monday, stated categorically that there was no case for Boruc to answer. Gazza loan was a made up rumour which seemed to eminate on this board IMHO Boruc will play and Davis will be on the bench, and thus someone will probably start another rumour about Gazza.

This is correct, and what is worse because he doesn't fill the space that a LB should the rest of the defence gets pulled across to cover for his inability which then leaves us not just stretched but exposed on the left side as well. The problem is that there is currently no solution to the problem, unless we are still able to sign an out of contract player into our squad (jury is out whether we have a vacancy or not), so we have to stick with what we have got, because it is surely better than playing a CB (Yoshi) at LB. For one short period in a game we actually had what looked like a decent solution when Frazer replaced Clyne who then went to LB. Not ideal but better than what we have for sure. On top of all that wha I hate more than anything about Fox is that every time he gets skinned and we concede due to his mistake, he is always to be seen hands on hips facing the goal with a "who can I blame" look on his face. Come the January revolution it should be tally-ho to Mr Fox.

But if we are at the end of the season, or at the next annual financial reporting date, then is there a problem with a short term loan to obviate cash flow problems. Premier League TV money arrives at certain times in the season, but expenditure on players happens primarily at the start of the season (and maybe in January). Too many financiers only worry about quarterly results, when we should be more concerned about the longer term (at least yearly). If we can be self-sustaining from season to season then there is no cause for concern. But a few on here do not understand company finances and take great delight in apparently proving that our Chief Exec doesn't know what he is doing (in their view). Anyway it is apparently all the fault of Les Reed who is probably a closet Skate.

Another give up merchant post. Spineless. Bloody glad I don't have to rely on you in a difficult situation. Roll over, give up and moan about it ad nauseum. I expect at the end of the January window if we do you will tell us that he or they cannot possibly be any good, why would they join Southampton as we are obviously Championship bound. Then you will proceed to repeat in every thread until the end of the season. Totally regardless of our results of course. Then at the end of the season you will start bleating on about getting signings in quick for the next season even though you know that like every other club in the country we will not do that, and you will continue with this all summer long. God help us.
-
Well, I guess your mate TDD set this up so that you could repeat the same old stuff ad nauseum. Don't you ever get fed up posting the same old same old? You could have at least waited until tomorrow when I confidently predict we will still be bottom of the league, because West Brom will beat us, then at least you could argue that it was at least a little bit original. Your tedious "I told you" **** is just beyond a joke. It may be true, but you just seem to take great delight in pushing it over and over and over again. People who give up like you and Alps after 10 games are just sad little cowards with no spine. But of course you told everyone this was going to be the case so lets all fall over ourselves in awe at your glorious knowledge of all footballing matters. Things don't look brilliant at the moment, but how about we see if things might improve before the end of the season before giving up and chucking the towel in which would be your way. Bloody cowards, can't deal with a few poor results, don't seem much like Saints fans to me, if you were you would be used to this ****.

Usual rubbish, "no experienced manager will come within a mile". Just you wait until Adkins is sacked every experienced and even more inexperienced managers will crawl out of their holes boasting that they could do it, when in reality most of them would do no better. And how can Cortese and Reed wind their necks in? When was the last time we heard either of them say anything of note in public? I think their necks are already wound in tight as a ducks arse.
