The Taylor Report itself stated that standing in itself was not intrinsically unsafe. It was the Government of the day (Tories/John Major) that decided no standing was to be allowed.

Really not sure what people are expecting. Saints never put out information on injuries these days. The first we will probably know is when the team sheet is announced for the Sunderland game. Even then we will only know that he is (or is not) playing, and if he is not we will have no idea how long he will be out for. Information on Jack Cork's or Frazer Richardson's or even Paolo Gazzanigga's injuries was somewhat vague or non-existent, for AL it would be an even more closely guarded secret.

5 games (4 starts) for WBA and 2 sub appearances for Saints. Many of our players now have 15 or 16 PL starts even those who have never played in the PL before. So i think he probably has less PL experience than more than 50% of our squad. He was quite good last year in the Championship (I certainly would argue about him being outstanding) but that means diddly squat in the PL. Judging by how often he has been selected those who know don't rate him as a PL player. Goo honest hard-working player but the step up has probably been a step too far at least as a regular, reasonably good back up for odd games here and there perhaps.

Classic post. The Northam stand will be 12 years old next year. I sit in the South/East corner by the way, or the Itching/Chapple corner to those of us who have been there a long time

Great idea, playing with 10 men often galvanises teams into playing better, playing with Forte would be like playing with 10 men plus a statue One of those signings that I really will never understand.

Excellent, it would save me time on here reading posts such as these

As long as they are U18s that seems like a good idea.
-
Just a very minor point but I don't think he is registered in our PL squad. So playing him would be a disaster as we would face a points deduction. Not to mention doing a Burley and playing a striker in a MF role. I can think of at least one more reason not to play him but I think that will do for now.
-
Good idea, replace left sided midfielder with right sided striker who shows nothing playing for the u21s and is off to the African cup in the New Year.

I think its more to do with how you fell rather than where you fell over. Which manor is SMS in?
-
Who knows what state they will be in when we actually get to play them, may even have a different manager, maybe some different players, assuming it is played after the xfer window. The beauty of football, I'd actually rather play them somewhen else rather than right now when they seem to have found a little bit of form again, whereas if you had asked me a week ago I would probably have said just the opposite.
-
So why are you worried? What good will worrying do, when this is something you can do nothing about. What would you do differently? If he is going to do a Saga, then there is no way of knowing until after the event. Control the controllables, quit worrying and have some fun.

Players out of contract in the summer can talk to other clubs from the January preceding the end of the contract. Theo Walcott is in exactly the same position with Arsenal. I suspect what is happening is that Wenger is lining up a straight swap, Theo for Punch. Frankly I'm not completely sure who would be the winner any more, but suspect as Walcott is on £75k per week I guess Punch would be up for a little pay rise. Really not that surprised we have not extended Punch's contract yet, but I don't see anything to be concerned about. There is little evidence that anyone else would be in for him although I suspect Arry will be linked as he is with every Tom & **** even though it would be odd for Punch to go back to QPR. Given what many people thought of Punch even 6 months ago it is quite funny that now folks are fretting over whether we have signed the lad up or not.

I don't think its too early to say he is a better defender than Bale. I would be surprised if he turns out to be anywhere near as good as Bale in his present playing position though. Bale was always a bit weak defensively, just fecking good going forward.
-
Not forgetting his treatment of MLT when he was England manager of course. Otherwise he really was quite a decent bloke, as ****s go. He was also responsible for that awful pop song with Waddle, he can never be forgiven for that.
-
I think the linking of these two things is about as far-fetched as it is possible to be. People who boo Guly - meatheads & morons who do not understand football. People who did not want Hoddle back in 2004, knowledgeable people with a sense of decency and understanding of football.
-
You are obsessed. You do not listen to reasoned argument, which is a classic sign of obsession. You just don't understand that Hoddle without Gorman would have likely been a total disaster - there is a reason why Hoddle no longer manages teams. I don't think anyone who didn't want Hoddle back had anything to do with bringing the club to its knees, Lowe managed to do that without help from many others, and as a result we are where we are today which is a much better place than we would have been if Lowe had still been in charge. Who is Wurzle by the way? If you are referring to Paul Sturrock, at least he still has a job in competitive professional football, currently in the top 6 in League 2, and this despite suffering from Parkinsons. A nicer, genuine, loyal bloke, would be a good role model for a nasty human being like Hoddle.

As Adkins stated several times in different interviews, this is standard procedure, put a brace on the leg, let the injury settle for 24-48 hours and then analyse it. I would be surprised if Yoshi is seriously injured as he played on after he was hurt in the 2nd half and completed the game. I would also not be so worried about playing Jos against Sunderland or even Stoke, but would be happier with Yoshi back for Arsenal. I think we saw yesterday that we can play well without Adam, but I'd rather he was fit than not of course.
-
Agree with you Charlie. RL had a decent game yesterday but he certainly did not "win the majority of headers". He "lost" many unfairly, the Reading defenders were constantly nudging him in the back and sometimes RL deliberately stands firm and lets the defenders climb over him for what should be a free kick. Other aspects of his game yesterday were very good, defensively and in midfield and his creativity is top drawer, but it appeared he left his shooting boots in the changing room. As you say some people tend to see what they want to see rather than what actually occurs.
-
Would argue with this, some of his play was actually quite spectacular, the shot from the left corner of the pen would have been amazing if it had been 6 inches lower, and some of his lay-offs and movement were very good. Had a great view from the Itchen/Chapel corner, maybe if you were in the Northam you would not have seen some of the intricate footwork.
-
No it was not exaggerated, you presumably did not hear the boos that were loud and clear in the Chapel/Itchen, eventually they were drowned out by the Northam starting the Guly song which was a welcome relief. Its not just the booing either its the inane comments made by many, who have clearly never watched the fella actually play and just feel it is cool to shout out insults that are not even relevant. There is no excuse ever to boo a home player during a game, never, the I pays me money so I'm entitled is completely fatuous. For those meatheads it would be better if you didn't pay your money in the first place.

Terrible article, Ramirez is 22. By the way there were goals in the game, just that the **** of a referee disallowed a perfectly good one, so NA was correct.
-
At the time I thouht it looked quite a simple chance, but on the replays last night it was much more difficult than it looked. He really had to dig it out to get much on it at all, he made the keeper work and make a decent save.
-
Would depend on how bad Messi's injury is though. I heard it may not be a problem in which case we could take a punt on the lad I guess. Would probably have to change Lallana's song though.
-
I think it was largely down to the fact that whenever he did try to jump the Reading "defender" was holding him down or pushing him in the back. One day a Ref will give a few of these fouls, but most are too afraid/incompetent to do so.
