Afraid that's been coming. Gazza has seemed OK but really hasn't had to make more than 1 or 2 saves in any of the last 3 games.

At London Bridge it is 265 metres wide, so could fit 2 football pitches end to end and have some space. In any case I was envisaging a platform being built out into the Thames with the megastadium built on top of it. River traffic should not be impacted and there would be mooring berths for the super rich and famous pals of Saggy to tie up their yachts while the matches were taking place. I don't think the suggestion is any more ridiculous than trying to build a stadium in Portsmouth Dockyard to incorporate the IW Ferry terminal :-) It may even be possible to incorporate a petting zoo.

Yoshi's defending on Sunday was very good, as it was against QPR. Admittedly Ba and Cisse really did not cause too many problems but he dealt with everything superbly. Unfortunately for Yoshi some people will probably slate him for the rest of his Saints career based on the 2 matches when he played at LB and RB where he was absolutely awful. He has been a rock in defence apart from these 2 games and has formed a very good partnership with Fonte. BUT, his biggest weakness is his distribution - he does well to win the ball and then his passes more often than not go astray and his headers often fall to opposing players. And why anyone lets him take set pieces is beyond me. Stick to the day job Yoshi, you are very good at it, give up any notion of taking free kicks or playing as a wide defender.

True, although to be fair he is not the first keeper to have to pick a penalty from Beattie out of the net. I think I may put a few quid on Preston to win against the Gills though, maybe the bookies don't know how bad he is.
-
He did have probably his worst game of the season against the Baggies (although rubbish may be a bit strong). Otherwise has been superb all season (I didn't watch the shambles against the Arse so if he had a bad game that day as well then I would concede that he has had 2 poor games).

They have some good players, but really not very many, and those they do have are not team players. I look at their squad and think what a bunch of misfits and under-achievers. Arry has a lot to do to make them into a team, and will fail until and unless he gets Big Joe (and maybe Bond) into the club which I believe is currently not the case. Arry on his own is like Hoddle without Gorman, cack.

The Thames comes to mind.

'ex saints and england legend' persona non grata
VectisSaint replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Saints
Seems like OP may be just muck-raking and basing suggestions on no evidence. The advert in the programme says "ex Saints and England Legend" while on the web site there is no mention of England or even Legend. If I had read "ex Saints and England Legend" and gone along to find MLT then I may have complained to the Trading Standards folks. MLT is of course a Saints Legend, but an England Legend? Please. 8 caps does not a legend make, about as much of an England legend as Beattie (5 caps). I would have assumed from the programme advert that it would have been Channon, Shilts, Keegan or even Paine (a few others would also fit that billing). MLT would not have crossed my mind. Just wondering if one of these was originally lined up and have since had to cancel and now been replaced by "Saints Player" Matt Le Tissier. Just as plausible a scenario as that put forward by OP, but I offer no evidence to back up my theory, as seems to be the modus operandi on this mong board -
Bill Nicholson - semi finals of the European Cup (when the European Cup was for league champions not any old top 4 team)

Of course it is...The Cult of Cortese will soon rise up in your mind and defeat the dirty Northern Echo for spreading such evil nonsense about Il Duce.
-
Sacking was nothing to do with results, Pardew admits he and Cortese just didn't see eye to eye. There is an interesting bit in the Northern Echo today: http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/10068735.Pardew___I_was_relieved_when_Southampton_sacked_me_/ By the way it was Rovers we beat 4-0 not City.

Who is far more porky than Boruc by the way. Our keeper situation is fine, Boruc is a good keeper, Gazza is a decent backup, and KD is a decent backup for a backup.
-
Has he been melted down? Good riddance if he has. Recycled into something useful.
-
All easily replaceable, Guly would be your man.
-
I was struggling with it, because its not spelled like that anyway, its "Pa****" (2 ps only and no e)
-
No, just you, Charmless. Unlike you I never abused anyone over this, I have an opinion that he is (or at least was) a decent player, which I stand by, based on having seen him play several times. I don't believe I ever said anything like he would be our best player. Muppet.
-
Cowes supporter in peace, looking forward to our match against you lot soon, should be a jolly jape. Lets just hope our finances hold out, I've heard we owe some contractors a few bob.
-
No sign of Boruc making the team yet then. Really need a keeper to help steady our defence.
-
I got it as well, and it was quite enlightening, despite what some others said. The problem comes when we have to play ourselves, I don't think we will be given 3 points to make up for the 3 points Spuds took off of us.
-
Then we should take Saints to him. 39th game would be good idea :-)

But Duncan is right to have a go in my opinion. The word CLUB is the clue, we should respect our players from the past, all of them, not just one or two superstars, they have all played a part in where we are today. The only thing I am not sure of is whether the Club are or are not respecting the past. The fact that there is an article on the OS about Eric Day suggests that to some extent there is respect. We also should not forget last season, when we respected our past by playing in the original kit for a season (far better than this season's monstrosity) and also the program articles last season were very interesting to some of us (and there are some good historical bits in the programs this season as well). Unfortunately I guess some of this is tied in to the MLT spat, which is a shame as it detracts somewhat from the other historical respect that clearly does exist. So I support Duncan's posts here, but we should appreciate that it is not as black and white as some might think. By the way, still think we definitely do owe it to everyone to get Big Ron over for a match before too long. the Club did honour several of our other superstars, but there remains one serious omission in my view.
-
I would swap many of our players for just one of theirs, as long as its Bale.
-
Must admit I thought he was doing time at another club (or perhaps just doing time) but it seems he is back at Newcastle, but seems unlikely he will play: "Fallen England youth international striker Ranger was drafted back into the first-team pool due to lack of numbers this week – but still has a long way to go if he is to come back into first-team contention. Watch out for the goal from Mike Williamson... But we will win.

Their problem is not so much "big names" as "big egos". There are a lot of individualists in their team, really don't see that many of them are really that good, except in their own imaginations. Hughes has a major problem trying to organise a cohesive team from a disparate bunch of has beens, journeymen and high-earning self-styled superstars. As Sky said on many occassions last night, the difference between them and us is team spirit, Saints, together as one, Rangers, every man for himself and bring on the next pay day. Their so-called talented squad included not one player on international duty this week, says a great deal for a PL club.
