  1. It hasn't always been the case, Mick Channon would not have captained England and won 46 caps if it was. It really started with the **** Ericsson and seemed to be backed up by the Beckham/Neville union who resisted certain players being included. Like you I have little or no interest in England partly as a result of this (and partly because international football is so utterly tedious for the most part). It would be nice one day for Rickie to be recognised with a cap or two, but I would not be too unhappy if he manages to avoid being dragged into the England circus, it doesn't seem to do anyone any good. Its ironic that the Mirror article mentions amongst others Swansea and Saints, two team that play the passing game, where touch is important, and yet England cannot play this way and their touch is awful (did not watch the "game" against the might Moldova so if they played one touch, pretty passing football I would have missed it, but I bet they didn't).
  2. If you read the article it actually says quite clearly that Saints have not watched him: "Saints have been in touch to say they are going to watch him over the next two weeks to see what they think of him"
  3. Bloody hope Adkins has learned his lesson and doesn't go for cameos off the bench for new players again. Unless he can be completely effective we should wait until fully integrated before starting him.
  4. LOL, I thought Jay Rod was transferred from Burnley, turns out it was from Burley. Burley play in Div 4 of the Haywards Bournemouth League. http://www.burleyfc.co.uk/club/114283/Home Explains a lot about him not seeming very good so far. Even Mike Wilde no longer lives there.
  5. Unfortunately I don't even agree with what MLT has written, it really is open to question whether a "reasonable man" would really write something that even suggests there are "pro Cortese people". This is not a playground Matt, there are not 2 gangs of people. There are people who are adult and who dislike this petty behaviour and there are immature children who treat this like a game and want to get one over on the other person. Matt is one of the latter and needs to grow up. Putting stuff like this on Twitter just continues to make him look like a very silly childish prat. Cortese may be a little of the same, but at least he has the dignity not to use silly so-called social media aka children's toys to have a go. Do the decent thing Matt, contact Cortese, meet with him in private, sort out your differences, show some good grace and then STFU.
  6. Surely a billion at least, or is that a billion nowadays?
  7. owen was 17 once and from Cheshire, are you saying we need to get youngsters from Cheshire because ones from Dorset aren't good enough? At least "our Harry" is not a injury wreck (yet). Cornick may turn out to be the Dorset Michael owen (or should that be the Dorset Marian Pahars?)
  8. So you haven't considered the possibility of giving it to someone who actually supoprts the opposition or something. This is the reason tickets are non-transferrable. Of course in an ideal world it would be nice to be able to give tickets to anyone with no fear of recrimination. Have you tried transferring a ticket for a concert purchased from TicketMaster recently? This is not something that is peculiar to Saints or even football.
  9. The figure of 4.7 billion almost certainly relates to the total global cumulative Premier League TV audience in the 2010-11 season: http://www.sportundmarkt.com/de/press/press-releases/2011-11-12.html It is not a made up number, but like several of the other parts of the Zambian Mail article it is taken somewhat out of context. Seems a common failing with papers called the Mail.
  10. Would he be harry Cornick Junior Junior? [bTW its Connick, close but no cigar]
  11. The bit I like is: "The 31,609 inside the St Mary’s Stadium, mostly the Saints faithful, welcomed just another new recruit in the number 24. Among football-loving Zambians it was the dawn of a new era. A son of this soil had arrived at arguably the biggest stage in world club football." St Mary's Stadium, arguably the biggest stage in world club football
  12. No, Jose plays on right (next to Clyne who is RB) and Jos on left (next to Fox who is LB). I know you don't get to games but i thought you at least saw some on the box. But even though you got that wrong you seem to have got right that the combination would be Yoshida and Jos, whereas Seaborne would be better suited to playing alongside Fonte if Jos was unavailable.
  13. Do they? Must be missing these posts. I think you must imagine such posts in your dreams about MLT. Most sane people accept that not everything Cortese does is perfect, but overall he has really done more good than bad, and is directly responsible for us being bought by a seriously financially backer which has resulted not just in stability but a return to the top level and with serious financial clout.
  14. No, Rickie gets played all year, not just at Christmas :-)
  15. This is clearly not the case, hence Butland (Birmingham) and Ruddy (Norwich) were selected by Woy.
  16. We used to refer to them as Boscombe
  17. Do you mean the substitutes or the substitutions? I don't think any of the substitutes can be directly accused of costing us the game, but the substitutions, or more to the point the timing of them, all so close together definitely did. I still cannot comprehend why NA withdrew AL, even if he was a bit knackered (and frankly he didn't look it), so what he had nearly 2 weeks to get over it. He is the skipper and was having an inspirational game. Similarly Punch. Replacing RL with J-Rod would have made some sense, Rickie did look whacked.
  18. Interesting, of course the official story is that the brilliant Paul Scholes was introduced by Fergie and he dramatically changed the game. That's what I read anyway in several places. Your version tallies much more closely with what I saw with my own eyes from Row U.
  19. Perhaps someone should tweet him - codycropper - he seems quite an active tweeter
  20. Is calling an Italian "a Swiss bloke" a form of mockery?
  21. Good point, now that you mention it I do recall that he played there a few times, still wouldn't have been the first name on the team sheet though :-)
  22. 0 goals against a very very poor Wigan might suggest otherwise, but basing this on one game is clearly even less statistically probable than basing our ability to score on 2 games. Time will tell.
  23. Oh good, so Tommy Threepast can come back and help us out :-(
  24. You seem a bit obsessed with this idea that there is a Cortese cult or people worhsip him in some way. You are clearly a fantasist if you think like that, and far from accusing others of being nutjobs, you shouldperhaps look in the mirror and see for yourself what a nutjob looks like. No-one worhsips people like Cortese, no-one over the age of 10 worships MLT either. Now jump back on the mantelpiece like a good litle CB Fry.
  25. Anyone notice that Tommy "Threepast" played for the Gills tonight, and Jonno Quick failed to score against him (Crawley won 3-2) Increased his total number of top level professional appearances by 25%
