  1. The Play-offs are still a realistic possibility, if we consider 6th place as being the most we can expect. BUT, it is getting harder to see that we can do it, primarily because the top 6 seem to keep winning. Personally I still believe one or two of the teams there will falter, most likely Swindon, possibly Huddersfied, it really only needs one or two though. First and foremost it is imperative that we beat both of these when we play them, and there is no reason why we shouldn't at home. The teams above us all have to play each other still as well, so for instance good chance that Swindon can lose or draw to Leeds, Norwich, Charlton, Huddersfield, MK Dons, etc. For some reason the league fixtures recently seem to have been top half v bottom half and so the top teams seem to keep winning. I think it will be difficult, but we will have a better view in 4 weeks say. we do need to start winning consistently again, but 14 wins between now and end of season should do it. We do urgently need someone else up front, to me that was as high a priority as defenders, to help Lambert. and we need creativity in MF, especially with Hammond out. If we can solve those 2 issues, then I am sure we could still do it.
  2. Not clear at all, looks to me like the initial fault is with Wotton, who was ambling around in a dream. It should have been his ball long before it got anywhere near Waigo or Jon
  3. And from what I can see on the FL goals, he was initially largely to blame for their goal, wandering around aimlessly ball watching...
  4. Who will be captain as Hammond is out?
  5. But we have scored 15 points more than the bottom 4. FFS if you are still seriously worried about relegation then you are more stupid than I thought, and that would be difficult. Its points at the end of the season that count, when you have played every other team twice and all the other teams have played every other team twice as well. 6th was about as good as we could have hoped for this season with a -10 start and after our first 7 or 8 games that was looking a very long shot. Our form since then has been as good as anyone in the top 3 or 4. Take a look at the fixtures today, and apart from Norwich v Colchester it was almost all top half v bottom half. All the teams above us have to play each other still, and we still have to play Huddersfield, Swindon, Norwich and Leeds (and others). It will be difficult to get into the play-offs but to write us off now and even mention the R word is frankly stupid.
  6. On the other hand if they don't win their games in hand and we beat both of them at home, the maths is somewhat different. Ifs and buts. Its points that count.
  7. Exactly, obviously galling that we threw away a goal lead in the last minute but a point away with their home form is actually a good result, and a point more than nearly everyone else has got at Millwall this season. But has to be said the gap between us and 6th is getting a bit too big.
  8. Oh my God, this must take the biscuit for over reaction. You have to laugh when people post crap like this. I hope you are joking Charlie. Good result against team that have only lost once at home this season and have won 8 of the other 11.
  9. Its a risk, but a calculated one, AP will have seen them work together, and have been satisfied that the gamble was worthwhile. Can't see bringing in Holmes was a risk though. Thats why we have good players in the squad. If he'd played Pulis then that would have been a risk, actually that would have been suicide come to think of it. Some changes were enforced anyway, Jaidi is injured, Trotman is gone, so what was he supposed to do?
  10. Come on Alps, no-one is that bad...
  11. Suspect Morgan will remain invisible on a radio commentary. Seriously though its often down to the commentators, either getting it wrong or simply not reporting every time a player touches the ball.
  12. **** me, how has Pards lost the plot? Gets 3 new defenders in, do you think he bought them to play golf with, they are fecking pro players and have trained this week. Brings in Holmes who has clearly impressed in training. Losing the plot would be picking Forecast, Molyneux and Pulis.
  13. Strange this is only being reported in one ragtop and nowhere else. The Mirror (like most papers) is crap anyway, suspect there is no animosity at all. As for Coleman, he is and always has been a ****, so if something has upset him, good, he gets what he deserves, and soon will be leaving Coventry I suspect as they seem to have found him out as a very uninspiring manager.
  14. To be fair, Pearson was not appointed by Lowe, though he did of course terminate his appointment. Just another **** up in his extensive catalogue of mismanagement.
  15. I don't believe they ever won the Cup or the League. I have checked in Wikipedia and it has confirmed that this is all a figment of the imagination. It clearly states: Honours: none and whats more it seems to have said that for some time, I can't see that it has been edited recently. So there you have it, conclusive proof that we clearly are the top team. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth_F.C.
  16. Just a thought, but do we actually want this Jonny guy to play well for us, or do we want to **** him off? Sounds like the sort of songs we would sing to an opposition player. Funny though...
  17. Was it at Highbury or the Emirates?
  18. had to laugh at myself, thought otsemabor was some sort of short hand (like hcdcajfu), completely missed that is was the name of a new signing Looks like spelling is Otemobor though
  19. Seems to have been approved extremely rapidly, normally planning applications take months. Did the Echo get permission from NC to announce this? If not they should be banned. Oh they already are.
  20. Unless of course SSN are speculating...
  21. Completely agree, clearly Poke is the future for Saints, but is currently gaining valuable league experience with Torquay, meanwhile Forecast rots in the reserves and gains nothing.
  22. Davies' squad number at Brighton was possibly 23 (but also found reference to 19, 23 is Adam Virgo), can't find what his number was at Saints - he was in the Cup Final squad so if anyone can put their hand on the programme (buggered if I know where mine is) it should give his number. His profile on Saints page comes up if you Google "arron davies southampton" as being there 8 hours ago. Found an old programme, 23 was Davies' squad number when he was with us. Make of that what you will.
  23. but with the lowest number of correct score predictions in the top 107
  24. Take that with a huge pinch of salt (if there is any left) then.
  25. Bigger crowds than last season and bigger crowds than some Prem and most Championship teams. Nick is entitled to his opinion but IMHO he is way off the mark on this one. In a recession when generally football crowds are down we are bucking the trend in spades. I think maybe there are other things to worry about, though I can't think of many these days as far as Saints are concerned.
