  1. Rather see Man City win the Prem than Chelski any day. Chelski was the start of all that is bad in football these days, and I begrudge them everything. The Special One, **** me do people really believe that bloke's self hype. Chelski won the league because of a Russian billionaire, not some poncy Portuguese fella. Please don't ever compare us with Chelski, like many others I think they are the most loathed team in the country these days (apart from Leeds), and I always detested them even back in the 60s/70s. At least Man City play attractive football, Chelski's style of play is awful, simply awful, no creativity and a bunch of aging has-beens. The purpose of spending some money in January is not so we **** all over everyone else, but that we make a decent attempt at promotion this season and then have a squad capable of top half of Championship next, thats all. Its still going to be a matter of some luck getting up, because realistically it is only going to be via the play-offs, and we all know that there is a large element of luck involved with that system.
  2. 17 in 95 Premier League appearances, 27 in Division 3 in 2000-01, and 20 in the Champsionship the following season. He's too old now (33), but at this level Ormerod was a very handy striker, scoring about the same number as Lambert. Even in the Premier he was very underrated, and enabled Beattie to score a lot of goals.
  3. Doesn't count, the question was about the last double-barrelled named player BWP was not a player, and anyway he was triple barrelled, Bradley Wight-Phillips-Offside
  4. I remember when we were going to sign Rudi Skacel. Has he signed yet?
  5. No, thats Liebherr. Mali Group do not as far as I know manufacture refirigerators, though even if they did I would argue that is quite heavy engineering :-) If you want to know what Markus' group of companies actually do visit their web site: http://www.mali-group.com/ and if like me you odn't understand much German click on the English version.
  6. Actually no he's English, born in Willesden, North London, so actually more English than me. I guess one of his parents was irish so he qualifies to play for the Republic. So actually he's the Anglo Irish Latvian Michael Owen. Of course Owen may have been born in England, just, but went to school in Wales where he first attracted the attention of football scouts. Crazy world international sport these days.
  7. So you missed the point completely. Liebherr Cranes is not Markus' company. His company is Mali, and as I said even if the publicity is free, I seriously doubt that a heavy engineering railway equipment company would derive any benefit whatsoever from sponsorship of an English 3rd or 2nd level football team - even a Premier League team would probably not benefit Mali much, but hey ho, if Markus wants Mali on the shirts rather than a named commercial sponsorship which brings in revenue to the club, its his Club and he can do what he likes (and I am very pleased that is the case)
  8. Why would Markus have his brother and sister's company sponsoring us. Markus is nothing to do with Liebherr cranes. He might want his own business MALI to be sponsors, would make more sense, but probablly debatable whether it makes any commercial sense given that they are primarily involved in heavy engineering for the railway industry in Europe. I think Dell would make good sponsors, then we could also rename the stadium The Dell.
  9. And there's lots to do in Milton Keynes I guess counting roundabouts or herding concrete cows could be entertaining...
  10. Maybe, but if the kid was 5 unlikely to be upheld, below the age of criminal responsibility I think. Also question whether a 5 year old can "invade" the pitch, unless he was Attilla the Hunlet.
  11. Only unfair when you lose, otherwise its the best way to decide a drawn match in a knock-out competition. What is the alternative? Toss a coin? Draw lots? I think its better than extra time really. An extra 30 minutes tonight would have been bad news with another game coming up on Saturday.
  12. The match ended in a draw. In the event of a draw the tie is decided on penalties. So we drew the match, but went through on the tie-break rule. Simples.
  13. I think whoever is at home in the 1st leg will be away in the 2nd leg, but I could be wrong.
  14. 1st leg, 2nd leg in Feb
  15. Thats just being silly. Everyone know the Community Shield is next season.
  16. Think my synopsis was more succinct and gave the reader all the information needed
  17. We drew 2-2
  18. Down negative dude, what's wrong with 3 times?
  19. If we go through it will be a win, if we don't it will be a draw.
  20. Don't you mean positively drew?
  21. As long as we beat the teams above us that are fighting for the play-offs in the second half of the season then we only have to make up 6 points. Making up 6 points on some (most) of the teams above us is not far fetched at all.
  22. The only player I would consider resting is Connolly, purely from a perspective of getting the most from him. Even so I would have him on the bench. However, leaving someone on the bench to avoid a ban is possibly a different matter. We need to go to Leeds with our stringest team available, because we can get a result there, but that doesn't mean we should not go all out for a win against Norwich. With the exception of Connolly, resting players to avoid them being tired is a total nonsense - these are professional athletes, who actually thrive on playing rather than training. Also messing around with a winning team is often the most disruptive thing a manager can do. Bugger this soft attitude of forgetting about the cup in favour of the league, I ****ing want to win both, or at least go to Wembley twice and get to the semis of the FA Cup
  23. Think you'll find the rules say something like "in the event of a draw after 90 minutes the tie will be decided by penalties". The tie was therefore decided on penalties because the match was drawn. See the Gulls won 5-0 today, Pokey keeping another clean sheet.
  24. Cruel. The Vics were good enough for Nick Holmes, don't think Pulis is up to that standard Still he does seem to be collecting red & white striped shirts so I guess it is possible
  25. Oh the irony:smt044
