Why would Markus have his brother and sister's company sponsoring us. Markus is nothing to do with Liebherr cranes. He might want his own business MALI to be sponsors, would make more sense, but probablly debatable whether it makes any commercial sense given that they are primarily involved in heavy engineering for the railway industry in Europe. I think Dell would make good sponsors, then we could also rename the stadium The Dell.

And there's lots to do in Milton Keynes I guess counting roundabouts or herding concrete cows could be entertaining...

Maybe, but if the kid was 5 unlikely to be upheld, below the age of criminal responsibility I think. Also question whether a 5 year old can "invade" the pitch, unless he was Attilla the Hunlet.

Only unfair when you lose, otherwise its the best way to decide a drawn match in a knock-out competition. What is the alternative? Toss a coin? Draw lots? I think its better than extra time really. An extra 30 minutes tonight would have been bad news with another game coming up on Saturday.

The match ended in a draw. In the event of a draw the tie is decided on penalties. So we drew the match, but went through on the tie-break rule. Simples.

I think whoever is at home in the 1st leg will be away in the 2nd leg, but I could be wrong.

1st leg, 2nd leg in Feb

Thats just being silly. Everyone know the Community Shield is next season.

Think my synopsis was more succinct and gave the reader all the information needed

We drew 2-2

Down negative dude, what's wrong with 3 times?

If we go through it will be a win, if we don't it will be a draw.

Don't you mean positively drew?

Should Pardew rest players in JPT game ahead of Leeds?
VectisSaint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
As long as we beat the teams above us that are fighting for the play-offs in the second half of the season then we only have to make up 6 points. Making up 6 points on some (most) of the teams above us is not far fetched at all. -
Should Pardew rest players in JPT game ahead of Leeds?

The only player I would consider resting is Connolly, purely from a perspective of getting the most from him. Even so I would have him on the bench. However, leaving someone on the bench to avoid a ban is possibly a different matter. We need to go to Leeds with our stringest team available, because we can get a result there, but that doesn't mean we should not go all out for a win against Norwich. With the exception of Connolly, resting players to avoid them being tired is a total nonsense - these are professional athletes, who actually thrive on playing rather than training. Also messing around with a winning team is often the most disruptive thing a manager can do. Bugger this soft attitude of forgetting about the cup in favour of the league, I ****ing want to win both, or at least go to Wembley twice and get to the semis of the FA Cup -
Think you'll find the rules say something like "in the event of a draw after 90 minutes the tie will be decided by penalties". The tie was therefore decided on penalties because the match was drawn. See the Gulls won 5-0 today, Pokey keeping another clean sheet.

Cruel. The Vics were good enough for Nick Holmes, don't think Pulis is up to that standard Still he does seem to be collecting red & white striped shirts so I guess it is possible

Yep, you are one of the few. Anyone with even a hint of an issue with Lowe gets lambasted by Numpty Canteen. Agreed, WGS is not really a legend in the true sense, but he was one of the better managers, and one of the very few good decisions that your lord and master made. Given the last 10 years or so some of the younger element will think very highly of him because they have little to compare him with, the Duck hunter saw to that. What WGS relies on is workrate/fitness. You cannot introduce that mid-season, it requires a proper pre-season. WGS will bring in a couple of players in January, ones that will run themselves into the ground for Gordie (bit like Telfer and the other guy he brought in for us whose name escapes me), and will start a transformation. Like the aftermath of Burley, what Strachan is dealing with is the aftermath of Gareth Southgate. Players who became lazy due to having a manager who had stopped caring.

Main reason for more saves is because keepers are allowed to move nowadays. In Peach's day keepers were strictly not allowed to move until the ball was kicked. Not sure how many of his goals were pens but it was a large proportion of them, as far as I know he never missed one for Saints.

Because it will help keep the World Cup campaign on the rails

As always, play the best team you have. Messing about with resting players is a recipe for disaster. If professional players cannot play games twice a week then they should find a new job. It is bad enough that we will have to shuffle the pack to deal with loanees. The best way to be a successful is to get into the winning habit every game.

I think they should get David Peach to coach the England team at taking penalties.

Yep, as was Northampton. Its 8 away league games unbeaten, or 10 away in all comps.

During the game on Saturday our home and away records were identical, but we messed that up by scoring a 3rd and failing to keep a clean sheet.
