  1. It should never have been a penalty, said it at the time, there was no foul. But given how many we have been denied in the past I wouldn't have argued against it. Still our dead ball expert managed to cock it up anyway so no harm done 🤪
  2. Stephens wasn't even involved with the McCarthy howler, it was Bednarek who played the ball back to Alex. To be fair to Bednarek it was a perfectly good back pass (if there is such a thing), just a complete brain failure by McCarthy, blaming anyone else for that is just silly.
  3. Only Shilts I think.

    20/21 Kit

Historic kit, celebrating 55 years since Clydebank were elected to the Scottish Football League (well 54 actually). Like the slash usually, but prefer the red on white, there is too much red here for my liking.
  5. Well he has a great role model in Ingsy to show him what can be achieved.
  6. What? I guess you don't really mean aggressive.
  7. Reminded me of Beckenbauer to be honest 🤣
  8. They also gave him a middle name paying homage to a Saints Legend 😉
  9. Forster deal with Celtic reportedly dead. FF has "elected" to return to Southampton and fight for place with McCarthy and Gunn. Apparently the deal was all done and dusted between the clubs but Forster has said no. https://news.stv.tv/sport/no-celtic-move-for-forster-as-keeper-opts-to-stay-at-saints
  10. Really don't think Danny will be leaving us any time soon. He's had his go with a top 6 club, it didn't work out unfortunately for him due to injury, but at least he was with them 3 years earning good money. Can't see him fitting in at Man U or City. I suppose one of the London clubs might be a possibility, but I reckon he realises the benefits of being at his home club, as long we stay in the PL I'm sure he will stay. He certainly wouldn't leave us for any non-Top 6 club. I think people seem to overlook that he is back home, and that means a lot to him. Personally I would like to have seen him as skipper but can understand why JWP has the armband now.
  11. To be honest one sentence from Keane is two too many.
  12. But it will be Spurs so only pseudo top 6.
  13. Except the times when it isn't. Tests are not 100% accurate.
  14. Inaccuracy works both ways, some (in fact all, at that rate of inaacuracy) of those could be false positives. Presumably they will be retested.
  15. Of course he was forced out. Reed wanted/needed to build the club around van Dijk, make him captain etc, and Jose was in the way. Turned out well, didn't it. Reed was a total arse. Not that I think Fonte was that great, or at least would be for much longer. But it was disgraceful how he was treated.
  16. Swab tests are not 100% accurate, some studies suggest up to 30% of results are wrong, but probably much lower. Also tests only give a result at an instant in time, and also take time to process, people can become infected after the test. Chance is low, but finite.
  17. Hasn't really had much opportunity to do much in 6 or 7 weeks.
  18. Austin, Clasie?
  19. Better look out for Master Bates and Seaman Staines on the Black Pig then. A consortium of Captain Pugwash, Johnny Depp and Keith Richard it is.
  20. Semi-finals would probably not have been classed as "big matches" in those days in terms of newsreels (The Final and maybe some high profile internationals), but I suppose 1925 and 27 might have had some live action filming. As far as I know there is no footage of the 1900 or 1902 finals, both years are still extremely early in the history of "moving pictures", which really only started in 1899. Newsreels were not invented until 1911 by Charles Pathe. The footage of Sheff Utd v Bury in 1902 is quite remarkable, and only seemingly exists because of some pioneering work by Mitchell and Kenyon who were based in Blackburn. I was aware of the fact that we were in those games, some people say I may have actually attended some of them, but they would be wide of the mark by a few years.
  21. It's not TV footage though. Newsreels record parts of Big matches long before TV, trouble is Saints weren't involved in any big matches. Newsreels wouldn't vae covered the Southern League or Third Division South.
  22. Clearly you have forgotten. We never "scored for fun" in his two seasons. Take out the 8 v Sunderland and the 6 v Villa in the first season, and we hardly ever scored more than 2 goals in a league game, except for 3 of his last 4 games in 2016 when we scored 4. Ronald's style was epitomised by me as winning 1-0. Still get well soon Ronald.
  23. Would be remarkable, a second coming.
  24. BBC covered it to an extent: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/athletics/52326054/page/3
  25. I wondered if someone would suggest Ossie. I would argue that he achieved his best at Saints. He was majestic and made things happen without hardly breaking into a trot. Maybe he didn't score as many goals, but he was sublime for us. I think McCalliog was also not past his best and Rodrigues was superb despite his years and tache,.
