Fonte needs to be replaced but Yoshi is doing well so not sure about the senior part. For me VVD, Yoshi, Stephens and Fonte's replacement (not necessarily in that order - depends on who the replacement is). That will still leave Gardos (if he makes a good comeback).

This....... Anyone that thinks you will get consistency straight away from all that have been blooded is quite frankly living in a fantasy world. The step up from playing U23 to full team is not an easy one. Its all about learning by experience. And yes I'm in the proud camp - why wouldn't I be?

Especially when they only go to see a game when Saints play pre season friendlies in Austria. I (most of the time) just bypass his whinging as I know there will be nothing and I mean absolutely nothing positive about SFC.

Its not the pay rise its, the length of contract - if you read your first part (33 year old) you'll understand that the second part isn't the issue. Why would Saints offer an extended contract to a defender that is only going to get slower? SFC have all the performance stats on Fonte that they need to make that decision. If he ends up at WHU then good luck to him I bear him no ill will as he's been outstanding for us but likewise we have been more than just good for him.

Why is Stephens not his replacement? Just asking as the club think a lot of him.

As he has all season. Not saying we don't need a replacement for Fonte but I'm more than happy with the VVD/Yoshida partnership.

Liverpool performed as well as any team that have been nullified by an exceptional defensive performance. We gave them no space between the defence and midfield which, is where players like AL, Ferminio etc like to operate. I can't remember too many efforts on goal from within the penalty area by them or, us giving away to many free kicks within 25 yards (which shows great discipline). This is the second time this season that LFC have come away from SMS with no goals that is not just a coincidence. Special mention for Redmond in so far as his defensive duties - he certainly covered a lot of ground last night. Defensively I think Cedric and Redmond are starting to work very well. If we show the same desire and discipline at Anfield we will have more than a chance so for me (apart from the 1st 20 mins where we looked edgy and lacking in confidence), same again please.

My only issue with rotation is that there is no incentive for any of the players to do well in each game. If they play an absolute blinder and are the hero of the hour it means nothing as they will not be playing the next game - so no incentive to do well. Likewise if they play like a donkey.
