Do you? IMO it's simply part of his game that needs massively improving because by the time he comes back, he'll have missed six games through suspension, in half a season, and whether you're him or you're Pirlo, that's not good enough.

I don't dislike him. I don't live in Southampton and so there aren't any other Saints fans in my office, so when colleagues are ribbing me about Saints, it's always Long who's the butt of the joke. Ie someone gets angry and someone else says "You sound like (my name) when he sees Shane Long on the Southampton team sheet!" but I do think, on the whole he's been a good signing for us and he's done that unique job of coming on, when our backs are to the wall and we're defending something and using that instant burst of speed that you mentioned to put defenders under pressure and chase down lost causes. Now, Long's legs have gone. He's not slow but he's nowhere near as quick as he was 18 months ago and defenders aren't as worried about him anymore. That was what his game was all about, you take that away from his game and what's he good at? Not a lot IMO. Still, when he leaves, I will definitely wish him well. Remember when he was linked with Liverpool?! Not that long ago either. About A year or so ago I think.

I don't watch the programme but I could have told you that that was the case, months ago.

Won't be sorry to see the back of this year from a Saints point of view. Horrible year. Worst year since I've been a supporter and that includes our Championship relegation. At least then, it was all financial and couldn't seem to be much we could have done to avoid it. The mess we're in now could have very easily been avoided.

What's it matter? If you have that much of a problem with it, just stay in the concourse till one minute before kick off. I don't really give two hoots what they do on the pitch prematch and at half time. It's only for 15 minutes and you can always play on your phone or something.

They controlled games in their own way. They knew exactly what they were doing. Just because they usually lost the possession battle, doesn't mean they didn't control games.
