I don't personally agree with this but since we're in it, might as well make the most of fit. I'd be tempted to play Bertrand for fitness and Austin for the same reason. I know he's had a full pre season but there's something a bit off about him. Is this at The Valley or at Charlton's training ground? If the former, odds on there being a stream? Just wondering if Saints will provide one since they usually do for the youth games.

What were the club supposed to do, recruit Joe Hart as third choice? What goalkeeper is going to be happy to come here and warm our U-23's bench? There's literally no please in some people.

Why not? What's he ever said or done to make you think that? He left us on relatively good terms didn't he? Better terms than Lallana and Lovren anyway. I'd take him back in a heartbeat, especially right now with the reasons stated in the OP. Plus the squad depth that we need right now considering he can cover RB, CB and RM. I always thought he was slightly better defensively than Clyne.

What's an "all action" midfielder? IMO we really don't need anymore midfielders but if he's better than what we've got, sign him up and sadly someone else will have to be sacrificed. A CB and striker wouldn't go a miss.

I vote yes! There's room on the end and even if there wern't, IMO, he's got more of a claim to be on there than Shilton and Keegan as much as I love both of those guys. Can we put Markus on it while we're at it?
