We wouldn't be able to sing "Johnston's Paint Trophy, you'll never win that" anymore to the big teams!
-
Well sort of... Couldn't see it anywhere else. It does just say that our academy (along with a load of others) has been invited, so I guess we could turn it down. I dunno if I really like the idea though as a whole, kinda robs lower league clubs of the chance to win something. Having said that, I'm all up for recreating that special day of six years ago! I wonder if it'll be purely academy players or if we'll be allowed to include a certain amount of overage players like we do in the U-21 League. Time will tell I suppose... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36725310

We need a back up keeper for sure. It's going to be hard for a club like ours to persuade someone of real quality to come and sit on our bench. IMO we could do a lot worse than bringing back Bailkowski. Seems to have come on in leaps and bounds since his time with us and I can't imagine Ipswich demanding mega bucks for him. Plus he's obviously still on good terms with the club as he played in Kelvin's testimonial. Thoughts?

I don't. What time's everyone going for today? 4:45pm IMO.
-
Tomorrow evening I reckon. About 7.

Really? I've never heard of him. The one I have heard us linked with every window since promotion is Redmond! Townsend too. You'll also get the old return rumours for AOC/Walcott as well. Once the media link a club with someone, they don't let go! I guess it just depends on the type of player Dario Gradi wants when he's appointed I wonder if any club has ever seen themselves in a link in the media to a player and then thought "Oh, that's a good idea, he'd be good for us!" and then actually gone and signed him? They wouldn't admit it, of course, but it has to have happened!

How do you know? All ads up with teh German connection and JK's love of bringing through youth players (I dunno if that's true, I'm just going by what I've read on here). This has taken so many twists and turns. More so than any Saints manager appointment that I can remember, even the times we eventually appointed Pardew/Adkins. Last time it was only ever Koeman or Yakkin, apart from that weird two or three days were Dario Gradi was the favourite. It doesn't feel like a Saints manager search without that guy's name being mentioned.

I suppose by the letter, we probably would but I'd imagine when they told him he was being replaced, they'd have probably given him permission to speak to other clubs universally. He left them on good terms so I can't imagine they'd be that petty to him. I doubt it'd be a serious problem and even if it was, the same would apply to Russia or anyone else that wanted to speak to him so it's not like anyone would get a head start.
-
It'd be extremely ironic if City banned him from talking to other clubs till his contract was up considering how he left.
-
The thought of us getting this Zenga bloke is taking me back to the Jan Poortvliet appointment. I'm getting a very similar vibe about him and I can't really put my finger on why.

Steven Davis signs new three-year deal until 2019
Bad Wolf replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I reckon he must have some idea who the new manager is. I doubt he'd sign a new contract if he had no idea who was coming in. -
Pelligrini

No mention of Dario Gradi this time?
-
That was always going to happen. Shame, I'd heard they both loved it down here and Erwin was ****ed off at Ronald for going to Everton. I have no malice toward these two. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/20160614-erwin-koeman-jan-kluitenberg-announcement-3142837.aspx

Nathan Redmond Joins on 5 Year Deal - Official
Bad Wolf replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
A bit like when our fans where saying there was no way Cork was leaving because he's mates with Bertrand. -
Well here we go again... What was your first managerial appointment and who did you want at the time? Mine was George Burley. I had only been into football for about six months and hadn't heard of him by name but when SSN said he was the guy who left Hearts top of the SPL, I knew who he was. I actually remember wanting Glenn Hoddle. I'm not really sure why. I also remember Bobby Robson being linked and thinking that I wouldn't mind him.

I swear we're always at home on the last day.
-
People suggesting Howe, Giggs or Neville...Why?
-
Since he "resigned" and we accepted. We still get compensation, right?

Nathan Redmond Joins on 5 Year Deal - Official
Bad Wolf replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I thought we wern't signing anyone without a manager. Unless we have someone lined up and it's just a case of dotting the I's and crossing the T's? Let's try and think who has a connection to Redmond! Also...He's great on FM2013! -
Not a popular opinion but...Moyes please.
-
When are the fixtures out? Also when people screenshot things from their phone, why do they always leave the stupid messenger thing there? Is it to make themselves look popular or something?
-
I still reckon he'll stay but if not Pellegrini or Moyes would do nicely.
-
I'd have taken Defoe and left out Henderson. Not as a direct swap of course but maybe Defoe for Sturridge and Drinkwater for Henderson.
-
Viera too?
