Post Match Reaction & MotM: SAINTS 1-1 Sunderland
grezz replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Well......maybe I have no right to be but i'm disappointed, not because I think we have a right to win against Sunderland but because we are better than what I just saw by a long way. For me it was all a bit choppy and we didn't click. Ricky was off his game and Jrod was, well, Jrod. He reminds me of the younger Theo Walcott where something might happen but no one knows what it will be, least of all him. I don't like that. He might pull it off now and then but at the end of the day he just isn't good enough for me. There were, however, plenty of positives. I am extremely confident about all our new signings. All 3 of them ooze class and are a different standard of player that i've been used to seeing in a Saints shirt in recent times. I could easily turn, have the op and offer Wanyama my services. JWP had an excellent game and was probably man of the match over the 90 minutes. Gaston looked motivated and played well. Even Fonte had his head screwed on a bit tighter than usual, as much as I would prefer he wasn't in the team (not withstanding shooting from 35 yards for reasons known only to himself in that situation). It was a fine header from a fine cross. He does that sometimes just to make me feel guilty about me making him my scapegoat for everything. The ref........I will diplomatically say he was 'harsh' on us. The Jrod goal.......for me he was level but when it's that tight it can go either way. The penalty......i've seen them given and I felt it was just about enough for a pen. So I think with those 2 incidents we were unlucky we didn't get one of them in our favour. Sunderland.......I don't think they were bad at all. They scored and tried to spoil the game from there and I think they were disciplined and they did that quite well. I can't knock them for that. -
Especially today I think it would take a LOT of money to numb to pain of a Saints defeat. I won't be touching it with a barge pole! I will, however, have a punt on Pompey to win for the reverse reasons of the OP. I will a fraction of the pleasure but it will cost 1/20th the outlay and be well worth it.

Yeah, i knew what you meant exactly (and you are quite correct in my opinion). You just went cwazy with your AMs, CMs and DMs which makes your point harder to follow when looking at the formation
-
Ah yes, the lesser known 3-6-1 formation

I'm 40 and positively affected. I have no idea what it all means but i'm dying to kick off a good old game of noughts and crosses in the box thing there

Who is to blame for the Summer of inactivity?

Nail. Head. I am cautiously optimistic about Osvaldo. He's clearly going to give us something we are missing at the moment but I digress. I think the Cortese and Poch have got their strategy spot on and if they have deliberately left a few weeks between signings on these 3 guys then I bow down to their genius. I'm very impressed with what I hear and see from Lovren but Wanyama.......I have a feeling that in 3 years time he'll be in everybody's top 5 central midfield players in the world. I think he just might be that good. -
That's outstanding business for Italy's 27 year old striker in this financial climate. He might chuck his dummy now and then but he's gotta be worth that much at least. NC is a wily old fox........

Say "Hello George, nice to meet you"

I would lay money on it being SRL missing out. JRod gives us mobility up front and I reckon that is more central to Mopo's game plan than the qualities SRL brings (sadly).

That 2nd would have made it hard to leave him out of the squad next time. As it is, Woy has a get out of jail free card. Damn!
-
All they are talking about on TV here in Denmark is the story and the legend of Rickie Lambert. ****ing awesome Rickie!!!

Yeah, I'm very pessimistic like that :-) I wouldn't say destroy. I would say 'put us to a level where we get no benefit from it'. But I have a hangover and i'm grumpy this morning so it's probably nothing to worry about really.
-
He's clearly a quality player but i'm not so sure I want him anywhere near the Saints team. One of our strengths, which should not be under-estimated, is the spirit within the squad. It's my impression that this is better than at most other clubs and strong team spirit allows a club to punch above their weight to a certain degree. What would worry me about an 'enfant terrible' such as Osvaldo is whether he would have an impact on that team spirit and upset the apple cart. As good as he is he could potentially make us worse as a team. Or maybe I just worry too much about stupid sh*t

As it stands, do we have a better midfield than Utd?
grezz replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I think those 8 people would say Carrick because they are more aware of him than they are Morgan. I didn't see every Man Utd game last season but I bet most people saw a whole lot more of Carrick than they did Morgan and that kind of works like advertising. Based on what I saw, Morgan had the more impressive season last year but if you ask me who is the better player I would say Carrick. He's rock steady, calm, always appears to have loads of time on the ball and simply doesn't give the ball away. I like that, but I like Morgan too and if he can perform as he did last season for the rest of his career then i'd probably have to rethink my opinion -

Saints in Iceland/Denmark
grezz replied to icelandicSaint's topic in Overseas Saints / Supporters Groups
Could have been me. The OE has been my 'local' for the last 15 years but I don't remember watching the JPT there to be honest. With that said i've had so many hazy nights in there they have all merged into one. Was I devilishly handsome or was it that lad from Salisbury who can't handle his drink?
