  1. Look closely at the picture on twitter and its clearly been photoshopped. However if it is similar to this I would be happy. Looks like the 1989 kit.
  2. Fan engagement is always going to be higher with smaller clubs - they have fewer fans and can target their messages to a smaller more devoted audience. It is a pointless survey.
  3. Apologies if this has already been mentioned... https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/southampton-chasing-west-bromwich-albion-5375482 Done very well at Cheltenham who have got form in getting good young English GK's on loan over the years.
  4. Apologies for the rambling thoughts below. Just a few initial ideas on how Governments and FA's can meaningfully target the clubs concerned: The only way to really target the ESL and the owners is through monetary means and targeting the players. Bans from Internationals and all other domestic competitions. Windfall taxes, extra Image Rights taxation or additional rate taxation on all salaries earned (not just over the current threshold) when playing for these clubs. The current Broadcasters to sue and reclaim revenues from the clubs - Governments could even freeze assets if they wanted to. I suspect the 14 other Premier League clubs will threaten expulsion while the FA will ban all the players from representing England for example.
  5. Although their form and position in the table probably would have been just cause, apparently the reason (A WEEK BEFORE A CUP FINAL!!) was that he refused to take the players out to train in protest at the proposed ESL. Mourinho for all his dickish behaviour over the years I think is a decent bloke at heart and understands what football is and who it is really for. Fair play for sticking with his principles.
  6. Keita is too big a name and has too big a reputation for Saints. Not even worth talking about that as a possibility. Rico Henry would be an excellent signing and I actually would prefer him over Brandon Williams. (If we could get both though, WOW!) Not sure what the finances of the Turkish clubs is like currently, but Lemina seemed to enjoy his time at Galatasaray and I do think they valued him - maybe a route for him at the end of the season? Hoedt - god knows, I think Lazio are unlikely to try and sign him on a permanent deal. Balogun in, with Long and Obafemi going - provided we kept Ings - to rotate with Adams, Walcott and Nlundulu. That would be decent. However, all this depends on what funds we have (if any) and whether there is a takeover (unlikely).
  7. Two year deal would make perfect sense. It does appear he is willing to take a wage cut and unlikely to block any kids coming through. Offers an option out wide and through the middle.
  8. Agreed. Not being able to go on a foreign holiday is probably not going to be the straw that breaks the camels back; mainly because of the total sh*tshow that is the European vaccine rollout. The big challenge will be when, all being well, we are out of all restrictions after June and cases start to rise or we get to November/December and there is the standard pressure due to Flu season etc. If the Government start locking down again or imposing restrictions I think that will be a game changer. The only legitimate reason for doing any of that is if we had some super-mutation that starts killing people quickly (which due to the normal evolutionary pressure on viruses is very unlikely).
  9. The 'breaking point' is difficult to assess. If there is any sense that we are heading back into a stricter lockdown, I think people will quite rightly question why and for what reasons. The new variants are obviously a worry and a danger but evolutionary pressure on viruses means they tend to become more benign although possibly more infectious. I think this year foreign travel is to the standard European destinations may be difficult but for those who planning on going further afield, they may be in luck.
  10. Fair enough - maybe dreadful is too harsh. Frustrating could be a better and fairer description
  11. Let's be honest here, the majority of club owners aren't going to be able to live up to the demands of the supporters. Gao is dreadful and I would rather he was not our owner, but equally he doesn't appear to be interfering directly in the club (I am aware that this is also a negative in some scenarios). Unless you get a multi-billionaire who wants to properly splash the cash or a Sovereign Fund (a la Citeh) every owner we could possibly have is just a version or a shade of grey of what we already have in place. DeGrosa looks dodgy and I worry that Saints (although the Anchor) would also be the first to sink.
  12. Danny Simpson and Eric Lihaj (sp?) were the only others on there I recognised. In terms of attacking players, Diego Costa, Daniel Sturridge, Wily Bony, Ahmed Musa and Alex Pato all free agents. You would imagine that their wage demands probably aren't going to be small.
  13. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spieler/vertragslosespieler/statistik/1/plus//galerie/0?ausrichtung=Abwehr&spielerposition_id=98&land_id=alle&altersklasse=&wettbewerb_id=alle&seit=alle&yt0=Show Cuco Martina anyone.... 🤣
  14. Haha. They do have some weird ideas but to their credit they are a well run club too. Should be moving into a new ground (the all wooden stadium) in a few years time too. Hummel seem to have gone through a big change over the past few years and are expanding quite a lot.
  15. Fair warning... https://www.footyheadlines.com/2018/08/forest-green-rovers-cancel-hummel-deal.html FGR are my local side and this was an absolute horror show; the club couldn't even play in their home kit let alone sell it! I am not aware of any issues at Everton, so hopefully they have ironed out the previous issues.
  16. The FA are stretching the sentence ' A decision will be made in the early part of next week' to its absolute limit now! A total farce, the result should be a walkover for Saints.
  17. I have said since the 125 year Sash shirt that the club should look to retain this going forward. The advantage the club has now is that it has 40 years of different styles and options to use when designing kit. Some good, some bad. I judge each kit on its individual merit. If I don’t like it, I don’t buy it. You will always struggle to please everyone.
  18. Considering the squad at our disposal, the job that Ralph, the coaching staff and the S&C team have done is remarkable. Obviously the players have really bought in to the philosophy too and you can certainly see that the new signings are adding too. If we can be around the Champions League places in March, I may start to believe

    20/21 Kit

My new (un-Under Armoured) shirt arrived yesterday
  20. Fuck sake
  21. Not really got going yet. Giving away silly free kicks and also giving the ball away too much

    20/21 Kit

I got an email earlier this week stating that my replacement shirt was ready for dispatch - helpfully they included a tracking reference that doesn't work or has no link to who is delivering (I think it's Royal Mail - but I can't be sure). Anyone else get a similar email?
  23. As soon as the States validate the election results, the Republicans will move against Trump. They are playing along (for the moment) because they don't want to alienate his base. Oh and the Military will take orders from Biden as he will be inaugurated on 20th January, regardless if Donny is still throwing his temper tantrum. Trump will then be escorted from the building by Secret Service agents.
  24. He was on borrowed time for his handling of the recent Project Big Picture nonsense. The use of the word 'coloured' is at best clumsy, at worst offensive. His description on gay players making a 'life choice' is ridiculous and incredibly stupid too. The fact that he then went on to compound these statements with lazy stereotypes about Girls/Womens football and South Asians in the IT department is almost laughable. My experience of those in charge of my local FA is that it is almost entirely ran by old white men, who haven't got a clue about modern football. The total lack of investment in the local grassroots game in my area is only now slowly (and I mean painfully so) being rectified. There is huge demand for girls football in the area, but a total lack of facilities and very little effort on the part of the local FA to encourage it. Sunday Mens football is almost dead. Saturday football suffers from poor organisation, lack of facilities and bizarre decisions on scheduling. The problem is that in a normal setting, Government would probably come in and enforce change - but if that happened, FIFA would actually ban England from all competitions (I am not even joking!). The sooner that we get young, progressive, ex - players in charge of the FA the better. Of course this is just my personal opinion and fully expect to be shot-down.
  25. No problem with a woman being attractive and rich, but I will be honest and say that I would prefer my own 8 year old daughter to find a role model who has gained fame and success through more academic, political or sporting means.
