He was actually linking up quite well for the brief time he was on the pitch, probably just needs some game time. I don't see the need to sign another left back, Harding and Mills should be fine. LB is his proper position, he's not a winger imo.

I've had a great christmas thanks, just feel people give Lloyd James too much stick all the time. I just don't understand it, usually when a players crap or shows a lack of effort I can notice it straight away, don't see why James is made a scapegoat even when he's had a good game. A couple of idiots behind me kept banging on about him all game and it really got on my tits. They also spent the first 60 minutes calling Antonio - Waigo.

I think Lloyd James would have to score 10 in a row before some people changed their opinion on him now. He's improved dramatically since last Christmas where he was just a liability. He's still weak in the air and his positional play isn't up to scratch but he offers us a threat going forward and takes a decent free kick. A player who can play in 3-4 different positions is valuable in any squad, he shouldn't be relied upon as our main right back mind.

Agreed, he's obviously not suited to playing left wing. He's a decent attacking full back and should be played there or loaned out to a club who needs him to play full back. From all accounts he was brilliant for S****horpe last season on loan. Just doesn't seem to be happening for him with us so far.

Because in certain situations it's better to have a more defensive right hand side rather than a traditional winger like Waigo or Antonio. It's clear as day that our first choice right back is Murty and when he's unavailable it's Lloyd James.

Why would someone who has hardly played all season need a rest? Bizarre logic. He's a crap centre half and a crap full back, just big lump and a bully. No footballing ability at all. Pardew clearly doesn't rate him.

There hasn't been a single game under AP where Thomas has played right back and Lloyd James has been on the bench.

Why would Thomas be rested? He's no way near our starting eleven and has hardly played all season. I really don't understand what people see in Wayne Thomas he offers nothing.

Merry Christmas everyone. Certainly been a year of ups and downs as a Southampton fan, hopefully next year will be full of positives for us all.

Maybe pay as you play. Anything else would be foolish.

Agreed with Lambert, easily the most effective player in the league and we don't really have any cover for him. Hopefully Pardew has someone lined up for January, Saganowski out with another 6ft+ striker in would be ideal. Hammond, Jaidi and Lallana would all be missed as well, but we at least have some sort of cover for those areas.

Def needs to be looked at. I started a new game with Notts County, I might go back to Southampton at some point but this Notts County game is ridiculous. Started off with 1.5m to spend and the chairman just keeps giving me money. Finished the first season with 123 points, 40 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses. I went 18 games without conceeding a goal. Leibherr's stats should be closer to the Notts County chairmans.

Massive praise for Le Tissier. Messi and Iniesta got all the praise last season but they wouldn't have got anywhere near the treble without Xavi. He pulls all the strings and makes them play, it's the same with Spain he was the best player at the last Euro's by a long way. Xavi is the sort of player who could walk into any side in the world, Essien and Iniesta are the only two midfielders close to his level.

Exactly. The seats would have been empty with or without the £10 family deal in place.
