I would much prefer a foreign DOF who understands the role, not many English clubs use it to good effect so it stands to reason that an Englishman wouldn't make a good DOF. Would obviously have to be someone that Pardew and Cortese get on with and who's respected in the football world. Whoever is the DOF I think we should try and get them in place asap, at first they should just be there watch what Pardew is doing and see how the club works and not actually start working in the role untill the end of the season. Then the three of them should sit down together and start talking about signings, strategies, players, staff etc.

Better to spend 1.5m and not have to worry about the strikers for a while. Bernard may well be cheaper but we'd have to replace him much sooner.

Should get 11-13 assists if we keep scoring so many. I wonder when we last got 10+ assists from our set piece taker? Must have been Le Tissier.

100% agree with everything. One of only four players to have started every league game this season, it's clear that Pardew rates him. I find it strange how one player can split opinion so much - just football I suppose.

I'm more worried that Pardew my unload the more promising youngsters (Paterson, Gobern, Mills etc) to free up wages.

Gillett should move to Doncaster, he's a good player just unfortunate with us. Saga and Thomas are decent players but no one at this level or in the CCC are going to pay them the same amount we are so I doubt they're going to move.

Hardcore! There's no way I could be at the station for 8am without good reason. Can't wait for this one, was Orient the last London away? seems like ages away. Got my tickets yesterday but forgot to ask how many we had sold, I'd like to think we take at least 1,500 up there anything less is poor.

Barnard plays for Southend

Imo we need to get rid of Forecast, Wotton, Pulis, Molyneux, Holmes, Saganowski, Gillett and Thomas. I can't see us getting a fee for any of them and we'd be lucky to find anyone in the football league to even pay wages for Pulis, Molyneux or Forecast. Going to be stuck with the majority of them untill their contracts are up.

I didn't realise Abramovich has done that, must be a huge burden of Chelsea's back if Abramovich does leave. Will we be publishing accounts under Leibherr? would be a good read for once.

I take every rumour like that with a pinch of salt, I'm not sure who has a track record as being a bit of a WUM. If you say he's trustworthy then it's enough for me. Would be a fantastic signing if we pull it off.

With regards to Stock or Danns?

Don't you think it's a little pointless? I mean the only link to Danns was one line at the bottom of an article and the link to Stock was a thread started by a poster on here. It would be great if one of both sign but at the moment I can't see any reason to think either will be signing sometime soon.

I wouldn't try and defend James on here, too many people have him down as our scapegoat and won't accept anything good said about him at all. It just isn't worth the effort trying to defend him anymore. He will be in the team for a long time yet and sooner or later our fanbase will realise he's a decent footballer.

If we had the choice of signing a player to back up Lambert or a lightning quick striker i'd take the second choice every time. From what I saw of Paterson last season he looked to have real potential. Just needs a few games, we really should have sent him out on loan for a couple of months earlier in the season.

Would be interesting to know if Leibherr is just giving the club the money like Man City or if it's interest free loans like Chelsea. He keeps banging on about everything being debt free so hopefully the transfer fees are just a case of him whipping out his cheque book.

Makes it even worse, it's sort of understandable if it's a 17 year old girl but like you say it's probably a fairly senior person. I'd be embarassed if I saw a work colleague crying, you just shouldn't take that sort of **** at work, it's never worth it.

I dont see any reason why Jaidi won't play next season, it's not like he's got any pace to lose. He's been a rock for us, got at least one more season in him. But yes Ward, Fonte and Jaidi competing for two spaces would be great. Would quite like to keep Perry around in a coaching capacity as well, he's obviously a proper footballer and knows the game inside out.
