I think it's safe to say this sort of spending isn't sustainable from just our normal revenue. I wonder how Leibherr is giving us / lending us the money?

Lambert is probably worth say 2m we don't need to sell and would probably be looking for double that. There's no way Newcastle would pay 4m or could even afford to pay 4m. Factor in the 2 clubs per season rule and it's a total non story.

Fantastic signing, a ball playing defender was our top priority imo. It should give our team a whole new dimension, actually having a calm head at the back who can pick out a pass and at the same time still being a top defender. I never really rated Trottman so I'm glad we've got Fonte in, 6 months of watching Thomas and Perry playing alongside Jaidi wouldn't have been fun. Massive coup for the club and manager, hopefully we can get in another player or two of his calibre before the deadline. For once the futures bright.

Hopefully the intent we're showing by trying to sign players like Danns and Fonte may help persuade the likes of Lallana and Schneiderlin to stay another season if we don't make it this season. Those two leaving in the summer would be my only worry and even then considering the players we seem to be able to attract it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I don't want to get too excited about these two untill they sign, but I do agree - if we sign them both we will be flying. We would start to look strong in nearly every position with decent players in their prime, can't ask for more really. Our first choice XI with those two in would be a match for most CCC sides let alone League one. Just hope they both come off over the weekend, I don't like having to wait for signings. I'm so used to things going wrong last minute.

It's not weird at all. Selling an average player for a much better play will improve the squad. Just like when we replaced Rasiak with Lambert. Similar players but Lambert is far more effective.

Roy Danns is the landlord you need to speak to. Bet they will get a fair few more through the doors next match day!

Feel a bit sorry for Palace reading through that read. Brought back memories of our last few seasons. Hopefully the money we give them for Fonte and Danns will go someway to securing their long term future.

The bloke who runs the Gordon is called Roy Danns. Quality pub, in Portswood at the bottom of Gordon Road, go there must Thursday it's pretty good for a pre match pint as well.

What sort of midfielder is Danns? Also Is Jose Fonte the cultured footballing centre back we need?

Need to get from Bassett to West Wellow tomorrow evening after work to pick up my new van. Hope it's safe enough to drive there and I don't have to delay picking it up any longer.

Will be going to this one because it's such a big game, but there's no way i'll be going for the league game later in the season. I hate the club, the way they dealt with the ticket situation has only made matters worse.

If they go into admin, I really doubt they would have a rosie outcome like we did. I hope they don't go out of business, would be boring with them. A good 5-10 years of dropping down the football leagues while they suffer for their cup final win would be great.

If we're going to sign a striker like Phillips I'd rather get in someone young, we've already got Connolly no point getting another oldie in.

Agreed, when you look back at that squad it was criminal that we didn't get promoted. Even after the team I posted there's still Saganowski, Viafara, Best, Blackstock, Idiakez, Bialkowski, Dyer etc not included.
