He was better than Bennett, who just looked awkward and useless!

Cortese clarifies the current position (Daily Telegraph)
Saint_Ash replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
What a fantastic article, what a fantastic chairman, I feel so confident with him at the helm we will get back into the Premiership. “I gave my word to the family that I will remain involved and people who know me very well know that, if I give my word, I don’t break my word and that is what I’m going to do.” Even the negative fans that don't like him for whatever their silly reasons are should be impressed. No doubt they'll find something wrong about this article though and try and put a negative slant on it. Simpletons. -
More like 2m for Lewis alone, he could play in the Prem! Too good to be true this deal! Would be amazing though!

If you take money out of the equation and Liverpool swap injury prone, can't be arsed Torres with Suarez and Carroll then it's a decent move for them!

2-1 Colch!

Judging from past transfers under the Cortese reign, I doubt we'll be buying buying either of them, it will be a player of equal if not better quality that no one has spoken about. I hope so anyway! Either that or we'll be waiting for the transfer window to shut then get a loan of a player with a view to sign in the summer, maybe a player not included in a prem 25 man squad.

Everyone getting ready to apologise to Kaiser Soze? Oh...

We can catch Brighton, we can win 5 in a row and they can lose 5 in a row. Not very likely but it can happen. I personally want promotion from this league more than anything, if Brighton beat all the teams around us and we quietly win our games and strengthen 2nd place but stay 5-10 points behind Bright I wouldn't mind in the slightest. Being Champions would just be an extra bonus.

Let's never sign anyone better than them then eh? Nice ambition. Who said anything about straight away, they'd train and NA will see who looks better for the match ahead. He knows what a high team spirit is all about, he knows not to upset the apple cart but a couple of new faces that give the top players already at the club something to think about is a very good thing, keeps them pushing harder.

Who cares, I'm don't give a sh*t if some players feeling are hurt because they're being left out of the squad, if we manage to get better players in then that's excellent, why should we worry? If Barney get's dropped because he's not as good as we've brought in then maybe it'll make him train harder, same goes to all of our players. I really don't understand this pandering to the players because they'll cry if a better player comes in and he is dropped to the bench, it's about the team, not the player, if we bring better players in then the current ones have to up their game or go and play for a less ambitious team.

This is the right time now I reckon, take our mind away from the league for a bit, ease the pressure and the players can have a bit of fun. If we lose it's not going to be heart breaking.

Deffo going somewhere I reckon! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11758_6679116,00.html

Have we got a back up for him in case he gets injured?

Reading have just signed a Swindon Defender and a non league striker! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11673_6669578,00.html

Not sure what having 4 midfielders has anything to do with getting him. If he's better than what we have then get him, no brainer. That goes with all signings.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_6661140,00.html Excellent, show's we're not a selling club. If anyone wants our players they have to pay decent prices for them!

I think Burnley are in for him! He might go and work for Burney Inns though.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6658739,00.html Man U are in for him now according to SSN, just because he went and watched the game!

Can I support Saints? I was born in Chesterfield in 78, then lived in Sheffied until I was 7, moved to Somerset and lived there until we moved to Southampton a week shy of my tenth birthday. I've lived here since (22 years) and the Dell was the first ground I went to when I was about 14, had to go with mates as my Parents have no affinity with football. I've supported Saints since then and feel nothing for any other clubs from the areas I lived before Southampton. Please let me support them!!

Maybe one of our targets is an excellent centre back then and Seaborne will be surplus to requirements, especially as we have Martin up and coming who is still only 19. Be awesome to get another centre back who is on a par with Fonte!

Guly was probably the best player for saints at the weekend. He looked like he actually wanted to get the ball and seemed to put more effort into his performance than any other saints player.

Excellent article. Points I liked: NOT FOR SALE! but if the owners lose their committment then Cortese has a plan b which includes other rich people. We ARE going to win the league, excellent confidence and I hope it trickles down to the players. Next season we aim to be top 6 in the championship! Brilliant. We have our eyes on some players but they have to be good enough to play in the Championship, not just get us out of League 1, so if we can't get them in we'll get them in the summer. Happy with that. We're not a selling club! Great piece.
