  1. I thought he should've played through the middle when Rickie came off today, but you could see that Kelvin's distribution switched very much to that left wing with Jay Rod where he was winning those headers against Rafael and starting play from there.
  2. I like Guly but he didn't have a great game when he came on today. Dropped far too deep when we were defending and was often marking the same man as Clyne, leaving Nani with acres of space on the wing that Clyne then had to work to close down. Shame on you if you booed him when he came on today as well.
  3. It's a load of b*llocks. Now go to bed the lot of you, we've got choir practice at 4pm tomorrow. All together now...
  4. It seems they're playing him on the left side of defence - a position that he's shown he's not very comfortable playing in. If they played him on the other side then he'd be doing a damn sight better.
  5. No Rooney, Young or Evra eh? Trés interessant...
  6. GK Kelvin Davis - Solid for at least a season and has earned his #1 shirt. Think we may look to bring in another keeper in January though. Paulo Gazzaniga - Good prospect for the future. Needs to improve his game a bit from what we've seen of him but good on the ball and promising. RB Nathaniel Clyne - Gets forward well and looks good in defence. Great all-round full-back with the potential to be a fantastic player. Frazer Richardson - Given that he had a great season last time out he may feel a bit slighted that he's second choice, but great back-up for us. Danny Butterfield - More of a dressing room presence I imagine, but experienced and good role-model for the younger lads. LB Danny Fox - Wasn't too sure if he'd make the step up into this league but hasn't disappointed me so far. Gets forward more now and looks better for it. Luke Shaw - Will be interesting to see how his game develops over the course of the season. He's been played in a variety of positions in pre-season. Very promising future ahead of him though. CB Jos Hooiveld - Love this man. Solid, good in the air and coped surprisingly well with Prem strikers so far. Think he's our key defensive man this year. Mental to think now people weren't sure about him when he signed! Jose Fonte - Still a few question marks for me about Jose, but he's earned his place in this squad for me. Not a great last season and may still be suffering from a lack of confidence or something, but he's pretty solid. Maya Yoshida - Unknown quantity, but he's versatile at the back and looks good. Time will tell. Dan Seaborne - Personally I would've shipped him out but he's shown good character to come back from a really serious injury. For 4th choice I suppose he's not too bad! Jack Stephens - 5th choice CB, if we don't get rid of Seaborne on loan I reckon we might see him go out on loan somewhere to get some first-team experience. I rate him highly though. CM Morgan Schneiderlin - The key man in our midfield, this is a big season for him. I've got confidence in Morgan to be our man in midfield. Steven Davis - Said he'd be a cracking signing for us before Rangers went bust and was delighted when we signed him. Will prove to be a bargain. Knows this league and what it takes. Adam Lallana - New position for him at senior level but I think he'll be great for us this season. May need to work on his defensive game but his work rate is great and has all the tricks. Jack Cork - Can see him being rotated with Davis/JWP. Will be useful for us at this level, he's tenacious and gets stuck in. Good player to have in those gritty games. James Ward-Prowse - For a young lad he's been extremely promising so far and I can only see him improving. If he didn't have such sterling competition for midfield places I imagine he'd be starting, but it's up to him to win that place. Richard Chaplow - Good utility man to have in the squad, playing across the midfield 3. Think his chances may also be limited though. Ben Reeves - Think he'll go on loan. Shame as he scored a cracking goal midweek and looks very promising but he needs the experience. Could be a good squad player for us in the future. RW Guly Do Prado - People get on his back, but i've noticed his work rate has improved a lot this season just on last season. He wants this, and the important thing for him is to keep his head up and get stuck in. Jason Puncheon - Was a bit worried that he might be our first choice for RW, but now that it seems there's competition I think he's a useful player to have. Still don't really trust his attitude though... Steve De Ridder - I like Steve, and he provides impact. Hopefully we keep him around because he has the ability to change games with his directness. Needs to work on his crossing though. LW Gaston Ramirez - HE SIGNED! HE F*CKING SIGNED! WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE! Hopefully he adapts well to the English game and will be key for us. Can't wait to see him play. Tadanari Lee - I would class him more as a winger than a striker now, and I think it's a role he'll exceed in. He's got great movement and a good finish too, not to mention he's pretty quick. ST Rickie Lambert - The main man. Let's sit back and watch him bang in those goals! He deserves this. Jay Rodriguez - Think he'll be switched more centrally now with the signings of Mayuka and Ramirez, and I think this'll suit his game better. Obviously very talented and will fight Rickie for that striker position. Emmanuel Mayuka - I reckon he'll be utilised out wide mostly, but as a striker he provides that pace and skill through the middle that we otherwise lack in a natural central striker. Looking forward to watching him play. And here's how I would play them... ----------------K.DAVIS--------------- CLYNE---YOSHIDA----HOOIVELD---FOX ----S.DAVIS----MORGAN----LALLANA-- RAMIREZ--------RICKIE------------LEE Subs: Gazza, Frazer, Fonte, JWP, Cork, Mayuka, Rodriguez
  7. I should imagine it'd be linked into a series of eventualities. I doubt we could recall him if we just fancied it, but if we suffered a number of injuries in his position then we could probably recall him. I think we've recalled players from season-long loans before when we've had injury problems.
  8. Not neccessarily. Most loans have a recall clause in there somewhere. I imagine we've even got one in the Forecast loan deal, just in case.
  9. Circumstances at the club will almost certainly be different by the end of this season. Players could have moved on, players could be injured for extended periods of time or players could be underperforming. That could mean a chance for Billy back here, which i'm sure he'd jump at. I can't see Forest going up this season as they've got a hell of a project building a squad worthy of promotion, so a chance for him to play in the Prem could be huge. He could bang in 30 goals for Forest this year and force his way back into our plans at the expense of SRL, Jay Rod or any of our strikers. I think it's more that he's not as versatile as our other forwards. Rickie is predominantly a centre forward, but can operate slightly deeper. Jay Rod can play as a striker or out wide, same as the likes of Ramirez, Mayuka, Tadanari and Guly who can play anywhere across the front 3. Billy is pretty much just a striker, he's just less versatile than most of our other players in that position.
  10. 25-man squad rules - Players under the age of 21 do not have to be registered (i.e. Gazzaniga, Cropper, Shaw, Stephens, Ward-Prowse, Chambers etc) - There must be at least 8 Home Grown players in the squad (Not an issue for us) - You may leave gaps in your 25 man squad, but you must name a minimum of 18 players by the deadline. That can be added to with loan players and free agents up until the window for that closes (mid-September). Therefore if we have space in our squad before the Free Agents & Loan deadline closes, he can be registered with us. Same as any loan or free agent we may be interested in...
  11. I agree with Maysie that it wasn't a case of us wanting to sell him, more that we told him that clubs were in for him and he won't be a starting player for us this season. The chance to link up with O'Driscoll again would have been tempting for him, i'm sure. I'm sure it's not the last we'll see of him in a Saints shirt though.
  12. Dean is a good pro but not quite good enough a player for us now unfortunately. Did well for us in L1 and Championship but wouldn't succeed at our level I don't think. Funny how much Brighton fans hate him though - what exactly did he do? Celebrating when Fonte scored that goal?
  13. "SAINTS RE-SIGN WOTTON" Saints are pleased to announce that former Saints midfielder Paul Wotton has re-joined the club on a four year deal. Nigel Adkins said in an interview: "We're so excited that Paul is back with us to lend his talents to a very promising chapter in this club's history". FFS!
  14. Just get Sky, they're showing cricket highlights and there was a graphic onscreen saying "Toss SA". Worth the subscription fee alone.
  15. He's a free agent so can't go on loan. He could sign a non-contract deal with them though, their amazing facilities and dedication from their fans will sway him surely?
  16. SSN says Liverpool moving for him now.
  17. Clip of Nige's press conference on SSN. - Not registered yet as not all paperwork right - Very optimistic about the deal - Very, very close to securing it - Safe to say the deal is worth "a few bob" No new info but at least it's all been officially confirmed by NA.
  18. I like Steve, he is a good player to have in the squad as he's quite versatile, he works very hard, he's got good pace and he's also very direct. If his final ball was better everyone would love him. I think he may go out on loan somewhere. He's still only young.

    Emile Heskey

    Sweet christ.
  20. F*ck me, I forgot he was still here!
  21. I've got an accy on for this weekend: Everton Swansea Bristol City Sheff Utd Rochdale Quid on that returns £42. Not bad really. Also put on my standard title-winners bet. Man Utd Bolton Sheff Utd Rotherham Celtic Fiver on that pays something stupid like £3820. Worth a go anyway, eh?
  22. A fiver a week and all the Monster Munch he can eat! But only if he's good..
  23. If we sign Green I won't be happy. Jason Steele from Boro would be a better target if we're looking for a keeper.
  24. Oh come on, like we'll sell Rickie now. If he's not been up to par by the end of the season and we receive a few good offers from teams who aren't our direct rivals, we might consider it. He's been a key player for us in his career so far for us, and there's been nothing so far to suggest that'll change this season.
  25. I live in Portswood and always pub-crawl my way to and from SMS. Few drinks at home Pint cocktail in the Hobbit Pint or 2 in the Rockstone Pint in the Alex Pint, pitcher and grub in the Giddy Bridge Hop, skip and a jump across the park towards the KA for a few more drinks Perhaps a drink in the concourse. Watch the match. Repeat in reverse.
