I actually imagine Dune looks like the head of the Gestapo in Downfall.

Not guilty, that was my mate's idea. Still not sure whether he was actually serious or not! Poor bloke though, only 22 years old...that's no age. He went to college with one of my work colleagues in Totton.

Couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo when he played for P*mpey. Surely he can't be any better now. Lambert, Lee, Sharp and Guly are good enough for a strikeforce in the Prem imo, maybe with another addition up front. Get shot of Connolly, Forte and Barnard in the summer and spend circa £3-5m on a striker to push Rickie.

Lots on here seem to harbor fond memories of the Woolston Ferry chant - one to bring back perhaps? EDIT: I now realise that's the one you were talking about. Looking at the words there's no f*cking way it'll work! Half of our fans can barely manage to sing OWTS properly.

Cracking game, so glad that I got to go today. Pretty even up until we scored (after a 5 minute spell of dominance from them) but then after that it never really looked in doubt. Davis 7 - Made some great saves at 0-0 to keep things even and punched away a few tricky crosses with lots of bodies around him. Butterfield 8 - Not his biggest fan, but he was great today. Operated much higher up the pitch than usual and looked much better for it. Crossing was good and positioned himself well. Fox 9 - Thought he had an absolutely storming game. Was gutted to see him taken off as the battle between him and Zaha was getting tasty, but at the rate it was going one of them was going to get a(nother) booking. Fonte 8 - Excellent game, so composed on the ball and his passing was sublime. Good in the air and handled Scannell well when he played through the middle. Hooiveld 8 - Same as Fonte, very strong and handled their strikers well. They barely got a sniff after we went ahead. Chaplow 8 - Put himself about, got stuck in to some tackles and held a high line, putting pressure on their LB. So much better today than he has been for the last few weeks. Lallana 7 - Clyne had him pretty much covered, but he still showed some nice touches and linked up well with Lambert. He looks f*cking knackered though! Hammond 8 - Made some fantastic challenges, dropped deep and pushed up at the right times to keep our flow going. Was worried we'd miss Morgan but I have faith in Deano! Cork 8 - Like Chaplow he had a high-intensity game. Not afraid to stick his foot in to try and win the ball and harried their central midfield pairing all day. Very good indeed. Lambert 9 - Well, what can you say really? Took his goals very well and created some good opportunities with some clever passes and flick-ons. Sharp 7 - Ran his socks off but didn't get much luck. He's been in great form recently which is good to see, but we need to give him better service when he makes those forward runs. Ball in front and onto his chest! Subs: Harding 7 - Got down the touchline well and linked up nicely with Lallana. Made an absolutely amazing tackle on Chris Martin inside our penalty area. Guly 6 - Worked quite hard but passing and touches were a bit sloppy. Seems to be very low on confidence, could it be homesickness or is he just miffed that he's in bad form? De Ridder - Barely any time to impact on the game.

I don't, but isn't it the most likely option that they were a local? Me and my mate were talking about it after I finished work today, he said that he doubts that the fire would have been to dispose of the body given all the dental profiling etc that is available now to identify people in situations like these. His guess was a homeless person who was sleeping in the bin had a fag on the go and fell asleep - we don't know whether it was a packaging or a waste bin. If it was a packaging bin, it could've gone up in seconds. Far fetched, but not unlikely. We'll just have to wait and see what emerges in the next few days.

Perhaps people might take the awful death of a fellow Sotonian a bit more seriously...

Right and Left back are the hardest positions to buy quality players in for a reasonable price. Just have a look and see who's in your realistic targets. Goalkeeper is a different matter - I would go for Jason Steele from Boro. I think he's available for about £2.5m.

To give myself a bit of a let-off here i'm not exactly sure how the duty free system works tbh. Having never purchased anything from there before I was unaware of the rules!

------------------DAVIS------------------ FRAZER-----FONTE-----HOOIVELD-----FOX PUNCH---HAMMOND-----CORK-----LALLANA ----------LAMBERT-----SHARP------------ Subs: Martin, Harding, Reeves, De Ridder, Barnard Cannot wait for this, if we can get 3 points tomorrow then I will feel very confident about us going up.

Apparently a body was found in Empress Road in Bevois Valley today inside a burnt out bin round the back of Aldi. Horrible.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .
SuperMikey replied to .comsaint's topic in The Saints
Seriously? Can't say I agree with you... -
Nearly tore my throat out in the first half but a combination of coming down from my energy buzz and a lot of f*cking tension made me personally a lot quieter in the second half, and i'm sure it's the same for most others. I'm usually a big advocate for making as much noise as you can, but there was a lot at stake today for both teams so a bit of tension and quiet is understandable.

I'm a member of the GDL, but he was pretty woeful today. Completely off his marker for their first goal and then left us exposed out wide when he came infield. He made some good passes and touches at times but his positional play and his form over the past few weeks has been pretty crap tbh.
-
Dirty bastards indeed. Probably would've been a different game had we kept Schneiderlin on the pitch as we had to play it long from the back as Hammond and Cork can't string together 2 passes (sad but true). Guly was a spectator, i'm a fan of his but today he just wasn't there. Came off his marker for their first and left our wide areas exposed when he drifted infield. Not sure if today was just a bad performance or whether he's not cut out for high-intensity games like that. Tbf, their two goals were crackers. However, had our marking been better on the edge of the area they wouldn't have had the opportunity to shoot. Real sickener to lose that lead so late on as well. P*mpey fans were mongs as per usual, load of gobby 14 year olds Block 1 side who were safe and sound behind the police line. Not sure they would've been so mouthy had there not been as large a police presence.

Just finished reading The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson, another excellent book by one of the best journalists in the country. It delves into different aspects of Psychology, but it mainly focusses on Psychopaths and how they are best identified. As with all of Ronson's books, everyone is perfectly characterised and you get a sense that you know these people and the inner workings of their minds just from reading a few paragraphs. It looks at psychopaths like Tony, who was locked up in Broadmoor after being coerced into pleading insanity during his GBH case and was (at the time of publishing) in Broadmoor for 17 years and counting, as well as famous CEOs who display psychopathic tendencies, psychopaths in criminal investigations (including quite a fascinating bit on Colin Stagg, the man wrongly accused and incarcerated for the murder of Rachel Nicklinson on Wimbledon Common, and whose niece I know). It also looks at the people studying these psychopaths, like the psychologist who ran an LSD-fuelled 'pod' type experiment in the 1970s where a dozen or so highly dangerous people were locked together, fed LSD regularly and encouraged to express all of their emotions. That experiment led to much higher-than-average re-offending rates amongst the participants, including dozens of killings from a score of inmates just hours after they were released. It might seem a bit morbid from my description, but if you like a bit of pop-psychology and an interesting insight into a fascinating mindset then I recommend that you pick up a copy of this.

The "I had a dream about how Saturday went" thread
SuperMikey replied to Deano6's topic in The Saints
My mate and I often talk about being a future management duo - me the calm, collected tactician and he the tea-throwing bollocker assistant manager. I had a dream a few days ago that Saints were playing a team wearing blue (couldn't tell whether it was P*mpey or not) and we were in charge. Egil Ostenstad came on to score the winner for us, 2-1 to Saints after a niggly game. -
.......i've had a long day. Case closed I guess.

Be interesting to see Richardson take Corners
SuperMikey replied to John Boy Saint's topic in The Saints
I don't know how good his delivery is from that kind of situation, he can put in a decent cross at pace but i'm not sure what he'd be like from dead-ball situations. Plus he does well to track back and stop counter-attacks if a corner gets cleared quickly. We haven't got too much pace at the back to cope with that situation. -
Anyone know why you're not allowed to bring certain Duty Free goods within the UK? I flew from Southampton to Edinburgh and back recently and wasn't allowed to buy any tobacco products which is a bit weird.

Very sensible of you, some people go ahead and get a dog anyway who is then not looked after properly. As for the video, I wish my dog was that happy to see me when I go home! Went home on Mother's Day for the first time in 3 months and he was at best, ambivalent.

It's really not as much bother as people like to say it is.

I think if I was a Hammers or Royals fan and my team had led the league for almost 3/4 of the season I would be starting threads like this one! It's too easy to get ahead of ourselves, but come on, we're having a brilliant time for once! And FWIW, Swansea at home please. Proper good match between 2 passing teams in the summer sun! Purfick.
