Was watching This Week last night and Diane Abbott said something along the lines of "after Queen Elizabeth leaves the throne I would like to see a Republican government put in place". Now, I know that the influence of the monarchy has little or no bearing on governmental actions, but surely the time is coming to jettison them from their position of power? We're one of the last world democracies to still have a monarchy, but they have such a small amount of power compared to the government that their continued existence in their current position is pretty much pointless. The Royal Family are obviously great ambassadors for the UK and the Commonwealth, and bring in a lot of money to the country by tourism etc, but we're not in the 1400s any more, and with a government in place I just don't think they're neccessary any more. Poll please mods? Just to gauge SWF's attitudes towards a Republican government.

Chaplow's goal against United was a great moment - standing right next to their fans and giving it large to them for the next half an hour was brilliant especially as they had been reet *****s up until that point. Shut them up for a bit!

.....with crazy offers this bank holiday weekend? In all seriousness, hope nobody's hurt. Doubt there'd be anyone around inside now apart from security.

Would be a fantastic signing - if a little injury prone.

The humour in the video is derived from the overdubbing by the creator to twist the meaning of Kate and William's words, NOT from their race, creed, culture, religion, nationality, appearance etc. People are very touchy on this subject - just because they are MotRF (or soon to be in Kate's case) doesn't mean that they're exempt from having a bit of fun poked at them or satirised (if you think that the video counts as satire). You could substitute K&W for almost anybody else and it would have the same effect. -

Well, us 8 year olds are notoriously puerile with our humour. -
Jaidi - Keep on a PAYP deal, he's been great these past 2 seasons despite his age. Harding - Keep, but Nigel should also have one eye on any better LBs becoming available. Butterfield - Same as Harding. Gobern - Keep. Young, came through the academy, would be useful when registering our team for the Champions League Martin - Keep, he's a good prospect and would be a decent squad player for any Champ team. Pulis - No. Connolly - Tricky one, but I think we should let him go. His injury problems really do cancel out all of the positives. N'Guessan (loan) - Had a tricky time here, but let him go as well. Not impressed me whenever I have seen him play. Stephens (loan) - Not actually seen him play for us, but he's very highly rated by the Oldham faithful so would be a good buy for backup CM.

Tbf I could barely afford a sandwich at the moment, let alone the delicious filling. -
I am the voice of a generation.

Could only get tickets in the Family Enclosure - taking my dear old Mum to her first ever Saints game...

Funny how almost any thread can turn into a chimpanzee sh!t-slinging contest within a few posts. Oh SWF, shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperamental....

Had me giggling like a schoolgirl. Brilliant. I doubt it'll be up for another 48 hours on YouTube though. -
Sods law that I come back from Uni with a need to play FIFA 10 online (too poor to buy FIFA 11), and PSN goes down. F*ck sake. I've tried 'Be A Pro' mode, i've taken my pro from 62 to 84 since Sunday, but it's just not the same....

Richard Littlejohn needs to know about this. It's political correctness gone mad.

-----------------------DAVIS--------------------- BUTTERFIELD-----FONTE-----JAIDI--------HARDING LALLANA------STEPHENS-----HAMMOND---DICKSON -------------------GULY-----LAMBERT------------- Subs: Bart, Richardson, Seaborne, Chaplow, Gobern, Connolly, Forte Saints 2-1 Guly 47 Fonte 79 I think we'll see Dickson start on Saturday - he'll want to impress against his former club. Connolly dropped to the bench although he hasn't done much wrong, but I would like to see Guly played further forward, as he's had to cover in midfield for the last few weeks. It's vital that us travelling Saints fans make a lot of f*cking noise and get behind the team to spurr them on further down the road to promotion, this is a huge game for the club. COYR!

Didn't Mike Williamson play for us before? I think he's a Winchester lad as well. HCDAJFU.

F*cking hell, better get my tickets quickly then!

It still astounds me how bitter Brighton fans are about us. There's no real rivalry between our clubs and they've won the league. You would've thought they'd just chill out now - but they still analyse NA's comments down to the last syllable to try and pick out some kind of controversy. Fact is, they have had more penalties than anyone else in the league. You could put it down to having "skillful strikers that slow defenders can't handle" as one Brighton fan put it, or you could say that their players go down easily in the box, as another Brighton fan said. Another fact is that many teams and managers have complained about how the ballboys are used to slow the game down at some times and speed it up at others, mostly to the home team's advantage and the away team's disadvantage. Yet another fact is that their players do act very OTT when there's a foul and wave imaginary cards at the referee. That's a pretty common occurence in foreign leagues - it doesn't happen very much over here but does much more in the Spanish, Italian and French leagues for example. If a team does it, I think it's fair game to talk about it. Nigel's comments were incendiary, but why shouldn't they have been? It was a huge game for our club, not only vital for our promotion hopes but also to prove ourselves against the unbeaten league champions, which we did. It's also quite funny that, despite Brighton insisting they're the best team in the league, they've only taken a point off us this season, and that was because they parked the bus at SMS and time-wasted from the 1st minute. Rochdale have taken 6pts off us this season - does this mean that they're the best team in the league?

And in the race for the 'SWF Pedant of the Year 2011' trophy, Baj just edges it with a gap of 2 minutes (and some photoshopping) over the omnipresent MLG.
-
Guly Do Prado ain't nuthin' ta f*ck with. The Football League Show highlights didn't show Guly's position when the ball came in, and I wasn't at the game today, but the most important thing is that we got the 3pts.

That's a glitch - shall I upload the file that I have?

First-world democracy in 'illegal act of war' shocker. Having said that, the sooner we're out of there, the better.
