I don't think a massive proportion of Scots would be for independence - not now anyway. If the opportunity had arisen for independence before the North Sea oil reserves were drained then I imagine not many would have objected to becoming a super-rich oil state. The SNP are the most popular party in Scotland mainly because of Alex Salmond, probably not for their policies on independence. I read somewhere a while back that if Scotland were to gain independence within the next 5 years then it would be one of the poorest countries in Europe (it already has the poorest quality of life in Western Europe by far). Oh, and my uncle was elected Labour Councillor for Didcot yesterday - so thanks to all those who voted for him!

We should AIM for automatic promotion, but we don't know what teams are going to come down from the Prem and how strong their squads will remain. We could get West Ham, Blackburn and Wolves down in the NPC next season for all we know - and all of those teams would have a good shot at automatic along with the likes of Leicester, Cardiff, Reading etc. Realistically I think a good season would have us finishing around 10pts behind 3rd place - in other words, upper-mid table.

We'll have to wait and see how many people actually said "No" though. It looks as if there's a lot of support for apathy amongst us Brits - people who could be swayed by the right system.

How many Saints games have you been to this season?
SuperMikey replied to The Cat's topic in The Saints
Leyton Orient - Home Colchester - Home Bournemouth - Home Tranmere - Home Oldham - Home Dag&Red - Home Brighton - Home Blackpool - Home Man Utd - Home Carlisle - Home Yeovil - Home Charlton - Away Brentford - Away Walsall - Home I don't have a ST, otherwise I would've gone to every home game, but at £20 a pop I can't afford to go every week. -
Just back from the polling station - I voted Yes. I know it won't count, as there's more support for No, but if the Yes vote gains over 25% then I reckon we could see another referendum within a decade.

Yup.

Olivier Bernard. I know he wasn't a particularly memorable player for us (not for the right reasons anyway), but come on! How many French people do you know called Barnard!? FWIW, I think Richardson is good back-up. Same goes for Butterfield. Difference between the two is that Butterfield is out of contract in June, Richardson isn't. Either way, one of them will probably be playing second fiddle to a new RB next season as Adkins hasn't settled on either of them for a starting spot this season which indicates a bit of indecisiveness on his part. We need players that can grow with the club, so I reckon we should go for Nathaniel Clyne from Palarse and keep Butters or Richardson as back-up.

Wigan have been punching above their weight for a while. West Ham have been seriously mismanaged over the last few years, and Gold & Sullivan need a wake-up call to hire a GOOD manager as opposed to Grunt. Blackpool shouldn't have been in the Prem in the first place. Wolves have got a very good squad for a team in the relegation zone, and Mick McCarthy is a great manager. They will stay up.

In Italy they have a system where if the team in 3rd is 9 or more points ahead of the team in 4th, the team in 3rd goes up automatically. I think that's a pretty good system tbh. Would love to see inter-league play-offs come in, great idea.

Any of those will do thanks! All would be good signings on a free. My choice picks in bold.

BHA - Brighton have no money? Where's this £90m stadium come from then? You won't be able to play the under-dog card in the Championship next year with your sparkly new stadium... I think this is mainly the paper making a story out of nothing, but nonetheless I reckon Gus is winding himself up. Maybe he was in for a big fat bonus had they gone unbeaten at home all season? We ruined his summer holiday plans

How convenient that she was killed a few weeks after saying that. Methinks this Bin Laden thing is electioneering that the Whitehouse prepared when Bush declared war on terrorism should sh!t hit the fan, to instill a bit of pride and trust in the Prez. He's been dead for years ffs.

Justice is served. I also doubt that the PC will stand trial though. Another innocent man unlawfully killed by the police.

Who would you like to win the Play-Offs? (League 1)
SuperMikey replied to Nexstar's topic in The Saints
Huddersfield definitely deserve it the most, but I would like to see Bournemouth up there with us next season. They could use the money, and even if they're only up there for a season it will definitely boost their club's reputation. Add the close proximity for away games and the fact that we'd easily take 6pts off them, it's a no-brainer. -
Skates, Brighton, Reading, Millwall, Palace and West Ham (if they go down - which I hope they do) are ones that I am definitely looking to go to.

Agreed, our fans could have showed Plymouth a bit more decorum, they might not have a club to support come the start of next season. We were in a similar position not too long ago... I also hate the "we do what we want" and "we don't care about you" chants, the first one caught on when Chaplow scored against Man Utd in the cup (their fans had sung it to us over and over, then we sang it back to them very vociferously when we went 1-0 up), and the second was brought in for the Bompey game and it's just stuck. No wonder people think we're arrogant - but I should imagine a lot of our fans were pretty p!ssed up today!

Echoes of P*mpey's USA tour last pre-season, except we'll probably bring our kit with us unlike them! I think somewhere in Europe, what about Belgium & the Netherlands? A friendly with Anderlecht before we unveil Romelu Lukaku would be perfect!

Complete elation, what a day to be a Saints fan. All the sh!t we've had over the last couple of years, it feels like karma is coming back our way now! Bring on a huge party at Walsall and an exciting summer ahead afterwards! COYR!

Nope, transfer window always opens on 1st July. Deals can be made any time before then, but they only go through after the window opens on 1st July. Odds on Pompey at SMS for first game of the season? I hope not, because that means we'll lose...we never win our first game.
