  1. It's true that it's not exactly the most offensive thing out there, but it's a bit naive to suggest that very few people would be offended by them. I found 3 articles after a quick Google search that shows at least some people find them offensive - including the BBC... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7868401.stm http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1368713/Tory-husband-wife-posed-golliwogs-Facebook-forced-leave-conservatives.html http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/golly-dolls-seized-by-cops-985434 It must be difficult to find people who are as intellectually stimulating and charismatic as you Hypo. Social experiences (however few and far between) must be a real bore for you.
  2. I am white, yes. My point is that, while people might not find gollywogs offensive, they are still racist to a degree. It's something that i've talked about with my friends of all ethnicities. It's great that you and your wife don't take them seriously, but there are some people who do and are offended by things like that. You might call my objection to gollywogs being overly-PC, but I don't care.
  3. Met plenty of away fans in the KA before and after games - probably best to make sure he doesn't wear obvious colours and you should be fine. Enjoyed pints with Millwall, Leeds, Everton, Man Utd and Villa fans in there before.
  4. I would love that too, the only issue is that he said it's his favourite film and doesn't need remaking. Would be f*cking great though.
  5. I've not seen the Hunger Games films, but I have read the first book. As a big fan of Battle Royale (films and original book) it was very easy for me to dismiss the Hunger Games as copycat sh!te. I suggest that you all do the same.
  6. Thinking of going to catch Gravity in 3D before it's out of the cinema, but i've seen it 3 times already now..haha. Saw the second instalment of the Hobbit films the other day as well, loved it. Big LOTR fan and this one definitely had more of a feel of the original trilogy about it. Have to say that I didn't like Tauriel or Legolas though, they were a little bit too good at what they do. Really looking forward to the 3rd one now, and hope they make more films from that universe in the future.
  7. No worries, MLG sent me a PM saying that I can stand in for him on Football Manager related matters while he has his crisis of confidence.
  8. Would prefer to keep Chambers in for this one, purely so that Clyney gets the extra rest time and is fighting fit for the Cardiff/Everton games. -----------------GAZZA---------------- CHAMBO----FONTE----LOVREN----SHAW ----------MORGAN----CORK------------ ----LALLANA----LAMBERT----JAYROD--- ----------------OSVALDO-------------- Subs: Cropper, Clyne, Hooiveld, S.Davis, JWP, Ramirez, Gallagher Lambert playing just off Osvaldo because I think we can play through their defence - Kaboul and Vertonghen are big misses for them. All of the front 4 capable of scoring goals, get in their faces from the off and give them a torrid time!
  9. And as for you MLG...
  10. Go to the Transfer Centre and then Transfer Targets - should be an option in there.
  11. You're wrong Tokes, there's a big black power movement going on in Brixton now - mostly championed by liberal middle-class sort of fellas like me. Truth be told, very few people in the Black community in that part of London are aware of it. Griffo - you're so wrong. This is me and my mates in Brixton last week, the Daily Mail did an article on us because we're fighting against the oppressors:
  12. I'm just under 2m tall eelpie, so I know exactly what you're referring to. Doubt many young'uns (i.e. younger than 14) would go in the safe standing areas anyway were they to be introduced, and as for short people - buy some stilts. I would love to see safe standing implemented at SMS - but only in the Northam end and the Kingsland/Itchen corners connecting to it. Got to have an option for people who still want to sit as they currently do and it would be cheaper for the club to only replace certain areas of seating. Would also mean increased capacity at that end and more scope for expansion too.
  13. I would love to see the Gollywog defenders on here (great name for a band btw) take their toys and nostalgic memorabilia to Brixton and explain to some of the Black population there just why they are harmless fun and a good time for all.
  14. "Strengthening" doesn't just mean buying new players though - it could mean giving some promising youngsters game time now to aid their development and mean that we don't need to buy heavily in upcoming windows. Aside from maybe a back-up keeper, I don't really see a position that we HAVE to buy for in January, and admitting that we want to use the window will lead to all kinds of unsettling press speculation anyway.
  15. Half the fun of Glastonbury is wandering round the site and experiencing the stuff you can only experience there! I usually pick 3/4 bands a day that I definitely want to watch and half a dozen or so that I would like to see and work off that schedule. Kinda depends on the weather what you do as well - if it's p!ssing down you don't want to be sitting atop the Park Hill all afternoon, whereas if it's hot and sunny that's more than likely what you'll end up doing!
  16. Part of the roof/balcony collapses on the audience during a performance at the Apollo in the West End. Reports of casualties - rescue operation underway. F*cking horrible.
  17. The decision to vote for myself in all categories, while seemingly amusing at the time, has now been shown to be as stupid as I had hoped it wouldn't look. Please reverse my votes and change all of them to Dubai_Phil pls.
  18. Day 16, not had a cigarette yet. First 4 or 5 days weren't nice but much easier now. Thanks for the advice chums!
  19. Quick bump just to say that the Alpha version of the DayZ standalone came out last night. I'm downloading it atm, going to play a few hours later and will post my thoughts up on here..
  20. He played on Saturday after over a year out with ulcerative colitis, you bellend.
  21. Solange. Beyonce's got her thing, and while Solange is definitely talented, it seems like she's trying to fit into a pop market that's already heavily saturated with performers like her. As for Arctics I cannot agree with you that Humbug is their best. Not been excited whilst listening to any of their albums since WPSIA,TWIN - with the exception maybe of Favourite Worst Nightmare. And I didn't say it was THE best debut album of the century, but one of the best! Funeral is a better album, clearly.
  22. I would love to see Markus included on there somehow as well. Maybe have him peeking out just over the slanted SAINTS lettering?
