  2. No mate, there's nobody here with me in my boudoir that I can ask how to bold phrases, and as you have given me no indication on HOW to do it - just bolded it yourself - I am no nearer knowing. It's not right-click, is it? Care to share your knowledge? If someone asked you HOW to bake a cake, would you simply give them a cake? Cos that's what you have done here. ;-)
  3. These paragraphs stood out for me .. "The people here have big plans for this club and I am going to be asked to deliver fairly quickly," said Pardew. "Being debt-free is a nice feeling but my over-riding emotion at the moment is that the team needs to improve." Pardew has noticed a lack of what he calls "nuts and bolts of football". He is talking about good technical players lacking the work ethic and discipline to succeed. "Just recently I did a talk to the players, I told them they must play like every game is their last. Potentially it is - one injury, one really bad performance and they may not play for the club again," he said. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If I knew how to bold phrases, I would bold "lacking the work ethic and discipline to succeed." That for me is the problem - we knock it around but there's no urgency about our play, no desperation to win (like I see with Man U and Chelsea). The players need to get it into their heads that Pardew is right, that is he going to be here for a long time (not here today, gone tomorrow as we have seen in recent years) and have that hunger to succeed, to win games, and feel proud.
  4. I wouldn't sack him at all. I still believe he is a good manager - probably better grade than we could get on the open market. I think there is more likelihood that he will choose to leave us, if we spit bile at him the way some posters are doing already. I don't know what the answer is, I really don't, but i don't think showing Pardew the door is the answer at all.
  5. would you Adam n Eve it? On Saturday we score in "Ferguson time", tonight we concede! Forget Churchill, time for Tom Hanks in Apollo 13 : "Houston, we have a problem" !!!
  6. P.Trollope : "We're not going to play at St Mary's or play one one of the biggest teams in the division, we're going there to play Southampton and beat Southampton." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Somebody's putting us down. You ARE gonna play at St Mary's mate, and we are not going to let you beat us! We will fight you on the beaches, we will fight you on the wings .... we will never surrender! Sorry, getting all Churchillian there!
  7. ok, that made me laugh out loud ...
  8. Lambert proved that with Bristol Rovers. That's why we bought him!
  9. My Dad started taking me to The Dell around 1965, when I was 5. I've been going ever since (although no longer to The Dell!!), and I've been taking my lad for the last few years. For a while my Dad used to come too, so we had 3 generations together. He's moved away to Sussex now and I wouldn't want him driving to the game, and he gets confused (and/or falls asleep) on the train, so he prefers to keep up to date with Stelling, Le Tiss & co, over a bottle of red. Anyway .. back to the question. Yes of course, take your kids to the games, and as mentioned above the Family Area in the Chapel is probably best. Not a great deal of atmosphere admittedly, but less swearing and yob behaviour. Make a day of it, with lunch/tea etc.
  10. We're all agreed. Murty and Hammond have captaincy experience, but Murty is likely to miss games with injury at this stage of his career. So Hammond would be the probable candidate. And I agreed with Pard's reasoning that we do need an outfield captain to negotiate with the ref.
  11. What was frustrating was that he was invited to comment on a particular point and then completely ignored it. If memory serves, the question was "does anyone here think that reaching the Prem within 5 years is NOT achievable?" Short silence then "gentleman at the back, you don't think it's achievable?" And this burk goes on for a full 5 minutes making a speech that was unrelated to getting back to the Prem within 5 years. Someone sure likes the sound of his own voice.
  12. Channon's - you ask a question that was on my mind overnight. To me, SISA and The Saints Trust were around to give fan representation against an autocratic regime previously. To me, they are like trade unions against a forceful management. Under the existing regime, let's all get on the same side, we don't need negative talk, and with such open and honest sessions like last night, I don't IMHO think we need fragmented fan representation. As NC said last night, "we are giving the club back to the fans."
  13. it's all over. My judgement - honest, open, a brilliant session.
  14. "Too many players here; we are working on getting some out" oooh get you
  15. KD will be captain as long as I'm here! But maybe an outfield captain for the ref to talk with. (agree that, AP)
  16. Is it? And no-one knew his name! haha. Pards loves Kel Davis, and has just kissed him on the cheek. :-)
  17. Bloke at the back giving a speech!! Do you have a question, mate?????????????????
  18. That very name came to my mind too. Along with Ali Dia ... but I'm sure AP didn't know him.
  19. ML bought us with his own money, so that counts, surely.
  20. We are one of the few DEBT-FREE! But he isn't overly focused on the beer prices just yet.
  21. ooh, getting controversial now!!!
  22. some bloke (O'Callaghan, Chairman) from SISA wasn't listening at all, and wants to know Cortese didn't come in 3 months prior! (daft question) And he wants the beer prices cut to £3 a pint!
  23. And he's right. So many have left us to warm benches (at best) elsewhere.
  24. AP keeps calling him CALvin .... it's KELvin, Alan!!!
  25. KD didn't really want to be No2 to Robert Green at West Ham, so when he had the call that the Saints deal was signed .. he wanted to stay (then he phoned his wife!) woo hoo
