  1. I'd like to see him from the off, but I would expect Pards will play Saga off Rickie, at least for the first 60 mins, then - depending on whether we are behind or on a par - bring Papa on to play either up front (with Rickie) or wide right (if we're behind and need 3 strikers). Good to know he is cleared to play.

Pardew, you beauty. If anyone wants to check my post history, you will see I have named Dan Harding on a number of threads as one I would like to see here. I'm loving this. I'm loving the Dan Harding. I'm loving the Alan Pardew. YES YES YES YES .... now I know what was exciting Meg Ryan - it was Alan Pardew!!! I would hug Alan Pardew if he was here. In fact. I may hug him on Saturday. So if you see some nutter getting carted off my the stewards, that would be me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So please forgive my effervescent, nay orgasmic, post of 21st July, but I knew Dan Harding was pure class and i was amazed we had picked him up on a free. I would extend his contract right now if I was Pardew .. which I'm not, of course. Did you think I was? You guys!
  3. I'm actually hoping that this is an indication that Sam Argent will be considered for the first team (unlikely, I know). Apart from last night, I've only been to one reserve game and Sam Argent was outstanding in that game. And Pulis hardly 'played' - he was there, but all our play went on the left side through Molly, Fish and Holmesey.
  4. Thank you, Sambosa, I agree completely. As the original poster, I am reading the comments that followed with a furrowed brow. As you say, the player 'reached out' (and not in a perverted way, before you lot bite on that) to a young Saints fan and made his day. That kid will idolize Papa now. We read all the time about players earning 100 grand a week and having no connection with the fans, and this guy comes in from abroad and makes this kind gesture. Let's have more of that kind of thing, I say.
  5. Apparently so! On the website through the day there was a piece that said 7.45pm kick-off. The lad and I got there at 7.25, couldn't get in the car park and thought "wow, lot gonna be here by kick off". Blow me down, when we get in it transpired it kicked off at 7pm, and we are 6-1 up. Oh well, thinks I, should see double figures! Nah, game over. A bit of a yawn between 25 and 90 minutes. Not sure we learned a lot other than that Pulis doesn't want to get involved. Everything went through Holmes.
  6. Just been watching his piece on Saints Player. Looks like he has some skill. Reminds me of a story on the radio earlier. I'll say allegedly - as I'm only repeating what was reported ... allegedly he was in West Quay on Saturday, either before after 2:50pm when he was on the pitch, and was recognized by a lad with his Mum. Lad said "look Mum, that's our new player" to which Papa apparently smiled, got talking with the lad then took him to the Saints shop then for lunch, then bought him some new football boots. The lad is starstruck. If this is true, we could have a real crowd pleaser. If he's as effective on the pitch and he seems to be off it, the only way is up.
  7. We already ARE in a relegation battle; sadly have been since starting on -10. Not winning the battle either. But yeah, 40 games still to go, so we have time to turn it around.
  8. We still need international clearance, don't we? I can't imagine that will be granted today. We will have to wait before he dons the red and white shirt in anger. Camara - I'd love it if he came here, just love it - but he has wage expectations that we couldn't match. If he can come in line with our budget, then absolutely welcome.
  9. Have I missed something? Didn't he fail the requirement to be granted a work permit a month ago? Are we trying again? Appealing? Or just pretending we didn't understand the first time? Has something changed in his circumstances? or the regulations? I'm hoping we can bring him in, but this is like asking your mum if you can go out to play when you asked her before and she said no.
  10. Awful case. His sis hopefully won't stand by the (chap) but will see the wisdom of her brother and mother. It's in police hands now so he will pay the price. Just hope Callum and his mother recover fully and his career can be resumed.
  11. Make sure you cross to our shirts, Murts.
  12. +1 Sounds like a pragmatic plain-speaking tell-it-like-it-is kind of guy. Wouldn't have outgoing management team take the rap, prepared to say to the fans 'this was my decision and I made it for the following reason ..." Sounds like a good bloke.
  13. I thought that too. We usually don't shoot our mouth off until the deal is done. Maybe this is to appease the fans that the signings are in the pipeline.
  14. Confirmed by .. who? Not even by Wiki. A player known to Dean Wilkins, so possibly a signing. Colchester without a manager, at time of posting. Averages 4 goals a season. Midfielder. We await to see if this is confirmed within 24 hours, as you suggest it will be.
  15. Damn you, Scudamore, I had the same thought when seeing the name! That lad off X-Factor? CHDAJFU?
  16. Jacob Melis and Joseph Mills? They sound like a couple of 18th century watchmakers.
  17. So what euphemism do you favour then, Professor? "Let go"? "Released"? "Parting of the waves"? "By mutual agreement"? Come on, he was sacked. Whatever euphemism you prefer for, his contract was terminated, with or without his consent.
  18. Hey brothers and sisters, Alpine is attending a game! We should mark this occasion. Would your lad like lead to lead the team out? You should also be announced. A 'fan in the stand' moment.
  19. I like the way we are playing - good tempo, moving it around quickly, and actually threatening the goal once in a while (remember last season when we passed it forwards, backwards, sideways .. but no attempt on goal.) Hudders have started the season well and this will be a good barometer of how we will get on this season. I'm going for away win. 0-2. Rasiak and Lambert scorers.
  20. Hmm, now that proposition, me ol' fruit, attracts ...
  21. I'm pretty sure Bangkok is down south ... was last time I looked at the globe.
  22. Micky, thank heavens I'm not the only one thinking that. It's like walking into a room and coming in on the end of a conversation. I'm giving a bemused smile but I haven't the feintest idea what this is about. Seems to be a Charlton player who hasn't actually played for the first team at all and yet somehow is valued at £5M. Could someone start at the beginning and explain this to us who have just arrived.
  23. That's been on my mind as well, Le G. If Holmes is fit enough to adorn the bench, surely he's fit enough to play? Does The Special One really think Lallana on the left is better than Holmes? I'm confused.
  24. Yes, I did that one earlier. I did know the song wasn't A Good Spine ....
