Congratulations to Nigel Pearson
the saint in winchester replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
Congratulations to Pearson, would still be our manager if we had unlimited funds like Milan Mandaric has to pay his high wage demands which were unsustainable this season with our lowering revenue stream. Come the glorious day ... and we have new owners, we may be able to afford to sustain a high quality more expensive manager. -
Stuck at work, so got SSN updates on. "shot by (name), goes wide shot by (name), goes wide header by (name). goes wide shot by (name), easily saved" Don't we practice in midweek?? We seem to have all the play, but can't get a shot/header on target.

Woot? Or WOTTE!
-
Exactly! They were docked points for financial irregularities and fraud!! It's none of their business, and they should be rebuked for their comments.
-
I agree. Can we have the BBC change their headline from "Saints EXPECT not to be docked points" to "Saints HOPE ...." It sounds arrogant and presumptuous the way it is reported.

Davis Argent, Perry. Saejs, Skacel BWP McGoaltrick Schneiderlin, Smith/Holmes Euell, Saga I saw Sam Argent plays for the reserves last week and was very impressed. He is solid in defence and gets forward on the overlap. He's a proper RB. No more utility players please.

Theme Song has to be STAYIN' ALIVE !!!!!!!!! Ah ah ah ah .. we're stayin' aliiiive ...

Just got my tickets too. Joked with the guy that we normally just walk up on the day, but thought had better book in advance based on reports I was reading. He agreed and said they were opening the corners and were confident of a sellout. The response has been massive. We are officially a 30k+ fanbase. We are doing out part to show that to potential investors.

Would you ground share SMS with Pompey?
the saint in winchester replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
YES YES YES. I've been saying this to my blue friends for a year! We have what they want - a nice stadium. They have what we want - red money. Let's get into bed. This is not the time for courting niceties or scruples. -
Why is Radio Solent not fully covering the Saints today?
the saint in winchester replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
Radio Hampshire keeping schtum this morning as well. OS simply a link to the financial pages. -
Really? Where are these sites? I haven't been on the moon; I must have missed all this.
-
He wasn't anything special for the Reserves last night. I was expecting him to shine. He and Smith - both left sided - were swapping over, but neither seemed to be able to cross or shoot with their right foot. Be interesting to see who Wotte goes for on the left side on Saturday.

Charlton @ home 4th April, 3 points a must?
the saint in winchester replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
AGREED! Anything less than 3 points and we're going down the plughole. Sadly I can see this being a nervy cagey match, low on quality and drama. However, I hope to be proven wrong and for that reason, and that reason alone, I'm IN! -
Rallying cry for the "stay aways"
the saint in winchester replied to Raven on the wing's topic in The Saints
It's on the opening page now! Can't miss it. I plan to be there, with the lad. Add 2 to the gate. £20 revenue. -
You just ask at the station (Winchester, Southampton, wherever you leave from) for London with travelcard. What circuitous route you choose to take is up to you then.

Train 1 : Winchester to Reading Train 2 : Reading to London Paddington
-
I would recommend going via London. Southampton to Waterloo (retn) - £30 tube to St Pancras (retn) - £5 St Pancras to Nottingham (single) - £11 Nottingham to St Pancras (single) - £9 TOTAL - £55 And a darn sight quicker! If there's engineering works, come up to Winchester/Basingstoke/Reading - and go into London Paddington.

I think we have enough (maybe more than enough) players on our books already. With Wotte now saying the regulars look and play 'fatigued' he needs to be rotating the squad. There's a 2 week break coming up, but maybe he should play some of these fringe players against QPR. Not all, as we need to keep a backbone of regulars to get results, but as he said Surman, McG et al look tired, then he needs to give them a break and use some of the many fringe players we have.

So Beckham wants to buy a British Football Club?
the saint in winchester replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
My point too, when I read the title of the thread. An MLS team, yes. Unlikely he would have an interest in Saints, more likely Leyton Orient, if he did want to invest in a British club. -
Saints coach doesn't blame arrest for striker's form
the saint in winchester replied to a topic in The Saints
I believe he wasn't released from police custody until the early hours of Saturday morning. Then an early trip up to Birmingham. Just sleep-deprived, I would think. -
Oddly the away team usually wins this fixture, either at St Mary's or at Pride Park - see Oracle p574. We have to beak the cycle and make it a HOME WIN. Wotte won't change a winning team, but as we're not a winning team after Saturday, let's see what changes he makes, if any. Lallana or Paterson in for McG may be the most likely.

I would think 'catchment area' has a lot to do with it. Round there, they have Aston Villa, West Brom, Wolves, Walsall ... (add others as you think of any). Saints have a large catchment area if you nominally draw a line west of Fareham (east of that they are likely blue) up to Petersfield then complete a triangle down to the New Forest and we pick up a large (potential) fanbase. 16k may be Birmingham's peak attendance, maybe up to 20k if they make the Prem. Our Prem attendance was 32k. If only we can get back there ....

Selection dilemma vs Ipswich on Tuesday?
the saint in winchester replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
No, Thomson is pencilled in to play for the Reserves tomorrow night ... unless his loan to Bournemouth is finalised in the next 24 hours. Like you, I'd sooner he was in the first team squad, but one step at a time.
