New striker - signed? According to Dutch Media
the saint in winchester replied to ladysaint's topic in The Saints
Bergkamp definitely. You refer to the 80s duo Thijssen and Muhren at Ipswich. I think Rommedahl was from Denmark. Marc Overmars, Ruud Guillet ... add names to the list. Doesn't mean every Dutchman will be good, just as every Ali Dia lookalike will be rubbish. All we can do is try it and see. -
One game, yes, but he looked really good. If he can reproduce that form regularly, we should want him back. Sadly, it will be said we have a few players to play right midfield. Although he was playing behind the main striker on Saturday, and looked good in that role.

Crouch had proven english manager lined up
the saint in winchester replied to fos1's topic in The Saints
Maybe if he had restrained his comments to the "proven championship manager" he would have been favourably heard. To use the occasion to lambast Lowe and Wilde was counter-productive. -
I kind of agree with you. He sounded ***** off on Saturday night. But as he basically criticised the fans for putting the players under excessive pressure by wanting them to win at home, I think it's time for him to draft a letter of resignation. What I would say is that if there any changes to come, then they need to be in the next 7 days before the Norwich game. A new manager needs 10 days of the transfer window. If no changes in the next week, then we are stuck with JP for the season, and it's certain relegation this way - players out of position, clueless/no tactics, tippy-tappy. We're DOOMED!

David Armstrong called for a boycott by the fans last night

Thanks for the warning, Soccer Mom. I also take my lad to the Family Enclosure, but will stay away until emotions are stabilised. -
Fascinating as all this is ... we suspect that if Lowe released JP, then he would appoint Mark Wotte. No further forward, are we?

Lee Holmes interview -how he came here etc
the saint in winchester replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Anyone else notice that in the league table that loads on the page, we are above Norwich, above the relegation places? I think they are in error, but it's nice to see it. :-) -
is lowe waiting for the transfer window to close...
the saint in winchester replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
That would be my view, too. Better to have a new man in place with the transfer window in front of him than behind. -
Get him in!!!!

And the player of the month (again) is....

They'll be asking us to vote for Player of the Season soon. Should be a no-brainer. They can start inscribing the trophy now! -
What's the real reason Why J.Cork didn't resign On Loan
the saint in winchester replied to Smalls's topic in The Saints
OK, let me write this clearly. I wrote from the perspective of the average Saints fan, based on postings on here. That average perspective should not be taken as my personal perspective. I have never booed any Saints player - past or present - nor would I. I don't think he was a legend or a traitor, but SOME WILL. My personal view is that he was just a gun for hire, passing through, and as such he doesn't owe us loyalty or desire to stay indefinitely. I just wonder how we came to believe that 'the player wants to stay, and we want him to stay' which was the line we were given by the media/OS. Your post, particularly the name-calling, is offensive. FYI I'm a 48 year old qualified professional. -
We could cope with losing most of those, but I wince at the thought we could lose Kel Davis on a free in the summer. No wonder some are speculating Rupee may try to sell him this month. Perish the thought. And did we sign Forecast on a deal? I thought he was only on loan. I may have missed an announcement?

What's the real reason Why J.Cork didn't resign On Loan
the saint in winchester replied to Smalls's topic in The Saints
OS says it was Jack's call. He will gave gone from Saints legend to traitor with this move. Are Watford scheduled to come here? He will be booed and catcalled! -
That's very understated of Lawro. I see we are 10-1 to win this home game! 10-1 for a game at St Mary's. I'd go 0-4. I think at 4 up they will ease up. Game won. (Prove me wrong, please, Saints!)
-
It's on the OS now. OS says it was HIS (Cork's) decision to link up again with Brendan Rodgers!
-
No wonder I have to wait 15 mins every time I want to use the stall for a number 2. You're all having a crafty fag (or other) in there.

Yes, Inherit the Wind - I was blowing the sax even before the link opened. Got any Boney James??

Saints V Reading Full Time Match Reation

10 point deduction for going into Administration. Luton's 30 point penalty was for "financial irregularities". -
So, we've actually lost Stern John for the season too..

People, remember Portaloo is HEAD COACH - not Manager. Rupes hires and fires, also advises him who is available for selection and who is not (for whatever reason). JP can only choose from a section of the playing staff. Even so, I'm concerned over his coaching skills and motivation. -

Something festive about "The Three Wise Men" might be suitable? -
I've said to Tim before to get in touch with the club and mark their card. We have tended to look on the MLS at a retirement home for old players to play show games at the end of their careers, but if we could get some young players eager to prove their abilities, then I'm right behind it. Oh and Tim, I share your passion for LLS too - Lonnie Liston Smith, that is, not the rare poster on here. If you can upload a few more smooth jazz notes, I'll be clicking the links.

Agree with you. He must be prepared to take a low wage for Bournemouth to be able to consider it. If he has a lower wage expectation now then I too would like to have him back. I believe we let him go as he was one of the higher wage earners. On the injury front, he was only getting these niggling injuries as he wasn't playing consistently under Burley. Once he had a good run in the team, his fitness improved and so fewer injuries. Come back Idi, 5K a week, ok for you?
