And what wait for Champions League!? You do realise that we've only won one trophy of note and had only a handful of European away days. The idea of a European tour sounds fantastic to me, and having a manager who'll go for it shows ambition. Cause i'm pretty damn sure our best players aren't going to hang around on the off chance that we can break into the rich elite so they can get European football!

To be fair this could be easily adapted for saturday, We hate Dejan Lovern, We hate adam too We hate pochettino, But southampton we love you
-
The other one i'm not sure why but has changed is We all follow Southampton. In my day (**** i sound old!) it was We all follow Southampton, Over land and sea AND WATER etc. Now the AND WATER seems to have changed to AND PORTSMOUTH. No idea when that changed but it sounds a bit tin pot to me that we mention them in that song (and i'm not adverse to some skate bashing). One of the nastiest i remember from us was about guy whittingham, Whittingham is illegitimate, he ain't got no birth certificate. He's got aids and can't get rid of it, dirty pompey scum.

that's the one, shows how times have changed that they're not considered important enough to be hated any more!

Celery and Ten men went to mow were Chelsea songs, never understood why a few of our fans decide to rehash them now, especially ten men went to mow, since every other club in the country (and i guess most of our fans of a certain age) associate them with Chelsea. Not sure it's got anything to do with the "p.c brigade" as they weren't racist and p.c brigade is a term usually used by people who want to get away with being racist or xenophobic. A lot of it is probably down to us older lot not having the memories we once did though, since i tend to forget the old songs from the Milton. Wasn't there something we used to sing about hating Nottingam Forest? Or have i just made that up in the fog of my memories?

Hardly any chants are original to be honest, even in the 80s songs were largely stolen from other clubs. It's just that back then they were nicked from United, Leeds, Forest rather than from the normal crop. Hell i even remember other sides singing You'll Never Walk Alone, and as far back as i can remember Spurs have stolen songs from other clubs.

I've always like the QPR fans i've met, decent bunch proper fans and not glory hunters in the slightest. To be honest when you're that close to Chelsea you know that the modern day plastic cu.nt will go with Chelsea instead so it just leaves a good hardcore of fans for QPR.

fulham for a london away, burton albion (never been there)/brighton (close game decent allocation) or Shrewsbury (never been) away please. Failing that i'll actually take anyone at home. Got a funny feeling we'll end up facing Liverpool in this at some point and part of me thinks that maybe, just maybe that might the final.

Unfairly left out Fonte there, he was absolutely superb the whole game and made some vital tackles

****ing hell people film themselves playing FIFA and put it online, what the hell is wrong with this world

to be honest i think it's mental to write Poch off just yet, don't forget in his first half season with us he only really matched what Adkins had done before. The trick to his management style is as much about the training as it is the managing, and that kind of thing doesn't show for at least 6months as players get fitter and learn the new way to play. Also the "lack of plan b" crap is so ****ing boring, normally trotted out by fat fools who've never played the game above pub level. MP's saints team didn't need a plan b, much in the same way that they didn't play 442. They played from positions and moved to create space and shape, there was no "plan b" (which as far as i can tell in english football terms means hitting it long) because the plan a was so fluid that it accommodated a plan a, b, c and d!

Article in the Guardian about Le Tissiers wonder goal against Newxastle
ericb replied to redkeith's topic in The Saints
For my generation at least (started going in the early/mid 80s) there is simply no one else like him, and his testimonial at a game is probably one of the most emotional moments i've ever had at football ground. Reading that article and watching that goal has made watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPw0XRAuzu0 Still Le God to me and i'm sure many, many others. -

That game and those goals were some of my favourites moments at the Dell, especially since the tit Branfoot had had the nerve to drop him. Hope you die soon Branfoot - bet you don't. -
I can almost see you punching the screen in anger there mate For what it's worth a new station wouldn't make a jot of difference to me and i travel from london every game by train. Mainly because central is a good point to go for a beer with my mates before heading down. As for expansion i'm probably on my own here in preferring to keep it the same whatever (though i'd prefer more character) just because those huge cavernous bowls we visit away are horrible examples of how modern football has sterilised the game just to get a few more part timers in that want to sit on their hands and be entertained. Mind you the one "expansion" i'd love would be safe standing, but i don't believe for a minute that's going to happen for a good ten years or more yet, if it even does at all.

That's why i commented on the outside only, plus it's better than most of the others directly outside Highbury Islington. Personally i drink in Stokey as there's a better class of pub there
-
For those of you going to the Southampton arms don't forget it's cash only! But it is a cracking pub and arguably one of the best real ale boozers in London. If you want somewhere close to highbury islington station the Alwyne Castle isn't too bad and has a massive beer garden out the front for those of you that want outside drinking. The faltering fallback is ok, i've drunk there a fair few times, but i'm not convinced it's as great as some make out and i still think it's a touch pricey to be honest.

I started going regularly around the same time as you '84 was my first season and i personally remember it slightly different. Of course we had our quiet games, midweek against West Ham on one of the first midweek tv games in the premier league springs to mind. Mainly because it was ****ing down with rain and half the Milton were trying to get under the roof. But compared to St Mary's it was consistently louder, often far wittier and when it wanted to be the place absolutely rocked. Also i used to love the way the opposition players reacted to getting so close to the crowd, and a few of our took the hit as well. Not to mention Branfoot being pelted down the touchline and the free milk cartoons being launched back onto the pitch when they were given out. Got to say most of my best mates now were made there, mainly on the milton road terrace - we were always east stand side as close to the roof as possible - but the Archers after the newcastle game where we came back to win 3-1 was pretty damn good too. Back of block five hurling abuse at the aways fans was always a laugh, then onto the tut and shive, pub crawl round the city & invariably end up at a Hammy night getting **** faced to great music. Can't believe some on here weren't old enough to have experienced it, might explain why a lot of Saints fans aren't as patient as they used to be, or have this obsession with us being a big club. Those who were there at the time new what we were, little upstarts who could look after themselves and scare the crap out of the big boys when they needed Always going down the Dell for me, took me a long time to not say that about St Mary's too, old habits die hard i guess.

Always thought Poppies was over priced and over rated personally, but then i also avoid Camden like the plague. It's just a massive tourist trap these days, with terrible pubs, over priced (and poor) food and people who don't know better shelling out for it. Food wise i'd much rather go to Broadway or Borough Market or check out one of the millions of really, really good pop ups in the city (http://www.londonpopups.com)

A lot of saints fans thought that Morgan wasn't as good as Paul Wooton, a lot of saints fans thought Papa Waigo was the second coming, a lot saints fans thought Billy Sharp was good enough to be a premier league striker and that Lee Barnard was anything more than a lower championship player. A lot of football fans don't know very much about football.
-
As i said with Morgan when he first started his career we have a very, very special player on our hands here. Let him develop in the right way, keep the pressure of his back and don't sell him too early and we potentially have a future England captain and player of the same kind of standard as Paul Scholes. I just hope that being in the premier league doesn't ruin that, since one of the benefits Morgan had was being out the limelight long enough to develop his game properly, and by the time he hit the premier league he was just refining the things he was already good at.
-
Should give priority to those that went to Millwall above all others if you ask me. Millwall was a far easier trip and not a massively different price but the day trippers decided not to go. If that's the case then you shouldn't help them get tickets to Arsenal. The club should prioritise Millwall away (regardless of season tickets) first, then number of aways, season tickets, general sale.

Just got home, Morgan was a different class today and whatever happens this window i can't see him staying here that long. Morgan today was just better than everyone else on the pitch and i could easily imagine him playing champions league. Also credit where's due to Pelle, great finish and worked hard all game, still not convinced he's the answer to our goals but definitely did well today. Oh and on top of that how does Cork not have a contract yet, utterly superb when he came on and in many ways changed the game, utter respect for him and would rather have him in the side than big Vic (not saying he's **** mind)
