Yup that's my thinking, would love a side in the arse end of no-where in East Europe. 60p a pint and a great laugh with your mates.
-
Another washed up old man with a massively over inflated sense of ego and a tendency towards idiotic outbursts. Yup sounds like the perfect like for like swap.
-
Personally think we'll finish above Spurs still and have a sneaky suspicion we'll come very close to catching either Man U or A.N Other (depending on results but Man U have the toughest run in so going with them for now).
-
It's because we didn't give them time to do another blue peter inspired "terrifying" cardboard and sticky backed plastic demonstration before that game that had pictures of skulls for a team that's commonly known as a bunch of nigels. Those big scary Ultras from croydon...

I can't believe people still believe the myth that Man United's away support is made up of "locals" and hangers on. If you know anything about how they get their tickets you'd understand why they've got one of the most loyal (and local) supports of any club in any league. Basically to qualify for away tickets for Man U you either need to have an away season ticket (that includes cup and European games by default) or you apply for a ballot at the beginning of the season and get what you get regardless of when it is. It's why they're so loud, why you see so few noddies in replica shirts and why they travel is such impressive numbers. Anyway back to point Man U were hands down the best so far this season, personally i hate Palace's "Ultras" a bunch of kids playing dress up and pretending to be scary when they're from f*cking Croydon isn't impressive at all. Plus at home if you take away the drum they're about as noisy as the Itchen corner (who are less cringeworthy). Biggest disappointment for me this season were Swansea, normally they're noisy bastards but they were pitiful this season.

Well given at the same age a large percentage of Saints fans thought Paul Wooton was better than Morgan i think the answer tends to lie with the lack of knowledge of most of our support base (at least on here) as opposed to the quality of a player who's captain of his country at his level and picked by three different managers (including one whilst we're in the top five/six of the top league).
-
Well i've got to say that personally i think we're incredibly lucky to have such great media access to players these days. Insightful comments like this are exactly the reason why. I mean in days gone by we'd never have known that players if make off the ball runs for the entire period of the game we'd have more chance of scoring. Seriously interesting stuff, and really worth the column inches and money that it cost to put it out there.
-
Sadly i reckon you'd probably end up on a football banning order and have your passport taken away for England away games whilst our new support would line up in the comments section of the echo or on social media to slag off the person that did it.
-
Can't we go back to the Echo giving away free copies outside the ground like the used to on the Milton road, these can then be ripped up and thrown in the air like confetti at kick off whilst someone else throws the toilet roll down the stand, just like the good old days

All your family members married off?

Tell him to make sure he enjoys the BIGGEST EVA FOOTBALL GAME HE'LL EVA GO TO EVA!! and not be overawed by the most passionatest fans in the world, or the most intimidating library he's ever been too. Oh and of course he should remember that the locals don't have tourettes, it's in fact normal and expected behaviour to froth at the mouth and shout SCUMMAH'S at anything that wears red (or for that matter isn't married to their relatives and can read/write).

The 80s were proper ****, don't understand the modern love in for them. Mind you that said going to football was much better back then and i vividly remember waiting outside Rumbelows, or in the sports shop by east street (because they always had solent on), waiting for the saints away score to come in.

Southampton, the erosion of goodwill and tribal truths
ericb replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
I reckon we should celebrate this by singing this to other clubs, "We're your second team, We're your second team. We are Southampton, We're your second team" I reckon that'll make their fans realise how much we care about their support and get them to get behind us. -
Absolutely no surprise at all i think all but the most deluded saints fans probably realised there would be bigger fish than ourselves going for him. Personally i'm just glad we got one great season out of him and he helps us get Europe. A class player who really should be playing right at the top of the game and extremely unlikely to "do a Lovern" in my opinion as his attitude seems to match his ability.

Why not just go with the old classic of "southampton reject, southampton reject, woa-oh, woa-oh, southampton reject (WE HATE POMPEY X10)
-
If we don't have a 90k stadium with fluctuating pricing, a monkey petting zoo and at least £30k each given to us from the tv deal i'm kicking up a right fuss.

I know you love to trot out the company line like some Iraqi propaganda doll but you do realise that Gallagher is nowhere near the quality that's needed right? Also your "maybe this, maybe that" shows your very limited knowledge of actual football. Pelle is great for the side as much as anything for what he does off the ball, the space he creates, the hassling of defenders, the option to be the target man to relieve the pressure on the defence. He's a player that can play with his back to goal and bring others into the game (especially our wing men/wide attackers). Rodriguez on the other hand is a player that plays better with the ball infront of him, knocked into space or over the top, running at goal and making space in the box are his forte, holding the ball up is definitely not. Now if you'd mentioned Long there i might (just might) have agreed there was a case for it. Sadly though once again you show you're great at stats but know very little about the actual game itself.
-
Can't wait to give that little ***** lallana everything he deserves, plus he's the type of player that has no stomach for it so i'm pretty sure if we get on him as we should he'll buckle under the pressure which will help us win too. Also i'd like to think the players that are with us now might take note that us 'Ampshire folks have a long memory and if you fu.ck us over we don't forget.
-
Agree totally (well apart from not having nippers), a club our size aren't going to get many opportunities in our lifetime so i'd take getting into Europe and having a few great **** ups over the hope that we "might" recreate this next season or the season after. Then again i come from the school of years of watching and playing the game over playing some computer game and thinking that means i know something about football.
-
You mean southampton's prime dogging spot? I'm sure getting in and out of there is easy
-
The Billy Sharp who's played no premier league games, scored only three in the championship for Leeds and is clearly not good enough for us now. As opposed to Mané who's scored five in the premier league and is an international striker or Elia who's got two goals already and gets into the Holland squad. I swear some of our fans know nothing about the sport they follow...
-
Why don't just go in the home and leave the ticket for the much more limited away end to a Saints fan instead of giving it to part time Chelsea fan that you want to stick one up.

Here's a more human translation of it.. Interviewer: Will we one day see you as manager of Barca? Koeman Barca have a very good manager his name is Luis Enrique And i hope he does well because i also like him. I believe i'm a Culé (fan of barcelona/person from the city) A profesional within football but a Culé And i want the best for Barca, always. Interviewer You haven't answered me Ronald... Koeman To be honest i can say this with the sincerity of someone who was part of the Dream Team (in the history of Barca) it is a dream, or was a dream to return to the Camp Nou. But it's been years since i've thought of that to tell you the truth. In truth i was very close to the bench on some occasions. But there is life after Barca and in all honesty it's that, life. I have three years on my contract with Southampton And i don't have what they call an escape clause I have to dedicate myself to what is my task at hand, qualifying for Europe with Southampton.
-
That translation is utter rubbish, basically Koeman says that he still thinks of himself as a Culé (or person from barcelona) and loves the club, he also says that he had contact in the past with the board there and on occasions came close to going back but he's not thought of it for a long time and that there is life outside of Barcelona. He then goes onto say that he has a contract four three years at saints but with no escape clause and his only focus is on getting saints in europe. So basically the same old that he always says!

We were commentating on exactly that at the game on saturday, it's such a weird feeling to go away from home expecting to win most games, or at least get something. Gone are the old days of the football getting in the way of a **** up and now i actually look forward to the 90minutes
