Can't see that Lallana and JWP are all that quick. Morgan and Wanyama, not so much. Chambers and Fox don't seem overly blessed, although neither are slow. Ossie? Its certainly not Rickie....

Sorry NickG, I guess I read your original post wrong. I guess when I heard you say we should target 6th I thought you meant we could finish 6th. I thought that when you target something, you do so because it can be realistically achieved. I didn't know you thought we should target 6th without actually believing we would achieve it. Well said. The "we don't play wingers" brigade are quite persistent, though. To be honest I'd quite like to have a "winger" plus our attacking full backs back in the side, I don't think the two things are mutually exclusive.

He took us up two divisions in two years. If that's not taking us forward then I don't know what is. You can try to re-write history all you like, but he proved you consistently wrong by gaining promotion when you were steadfast that he'd fail even at our lower levels. He's not cut-out for a top ten aspiring PL side but he proved to be exactly what we needed at the time.

I think you're right; which IMO doesn't really bode all that well for JRod, its a little bit of a demotion of sorts. Few other options though, I suppose (especially with the departure of Puncheon).

Well that's an improvement from last season's idiotic decision to stick so rigidly to an away kit template. Now if we could just incorporate those black shorts into the home kit.....

Quite surprised to see Fonte being put in there; and especially no Hooiveld in the squad. The latter leads to the former, I guess. And echo the Guly comments; most odd. I did notice that on Saturday he was sat outside the players' box fiddling with his phone for most of the game and looking disinterested. Understandable really. A decent line-up though, and hopefully the young-uns can get a decent run out. Might also be an opportunity to try Rodrigues in a slightly different and more central role than he gets in the first team.
