Crucially, it has ruled that “accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence”. IFAB has now clarified that it is a handball offence when a player: “Deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball; Touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised; or Scores in the opponents’ goal: directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper; or immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental.”

Same. I know it was given as a double touch by the ref but I didn’t pick it up in the replays. Nobody seemed to argue with the decision though so maybe it was.

Yes, my mistake. He started against West Brom, an excellent 2-0 away win. Then he was on the bench for the next game, a defeat to Hull. Then regained his place against the following game in the home defeat to Millwall.

It’s close but we’d gone off the boil two or three games before Stephens got his place back. He was actually on the bench for a lot longer than I remembered. He started in a draw against Norwich then was dropped again. We lost against Bristol and Hull, then he got his place back against Millwall (which we lost). Since that Millwall game our form has been LWWDLD. The three games before that were LWL.
