Brought in for cheap, absolute bargain. If I remember rightly he had injury issues at Chelsea but he had a good Barcelona pedigree and when Morgan and Wanyama and Cork all left he made the transition to first choice seemlessly. Yeah I can't see us losing two CBs unless we have a plan to bump Simeu up to the first team after his successful loan last season. It would ask a lot of ABK and Salisu to last all season with just Lyanco as a senior back up, and I still don't fully feel comfortable seeing Valery as a CB. However the fact that Bednarek was on the bench last night over Stephens is interesting. Maybe we want to keep Jan and let Jack go. In the real world we'd let both go and bring someone else in but we are pressed for time.

The funny thing is they're spunking money on midfielders when it's their attack that needs work. Maupay, Rondon and an injury prone DCL are not going to score enough goals to keep them up. Gray and Gordon will drift in and out of form too. Could be in trouble.

If we are to sign 3 or so players, we'd probably need to hear about the moves today. Rarely (though it's not impossible) do deals just suddenly happen on deadline day (tomorrow), they're usually set up in advance and then completed on deadline day. Personally I'd be slightly surprised if we brought in 3 now, although we probably do need 3/4. Anyone in this country can basically be pursued on deadline day due to travel but someone like Gakpo needs to be largely agreed today. It'll be a big day. My prediction? Outs? Bednarek and Romeu probably, maybe Redmond. Ins? One CM, one attacker (either a 10 or Str). We may sneak a late signing on Thursday, someone localish like Vale from Chelsea (although I did notice he was on the bench last night).

We definitely have more spirit and belief in ourselves and the new signings have really given us a lift, not to mention the improvement of players like AA and Djenepo in their new positions. Even if this is a relegation battling season we've given ourselves a good chance or survival, but hopefully we can do better.
