  1. Praise first, thank the lucky stars he didn't get a new contract second. Praise... despite being of limited talents he was a hard worker, quick and was a nightmare for defences to play against. Plus... he did score a few goals. Did he justify his price tag? For longevity and key goals, sure. Quickest goal and THAT Liverpool goal. I am glad we didn't give him a new contract (or he didn't sign it) as that frees up money for elsewhere and... we can do better now.

To be fair, most of them are just past puberty and so probably are.
  3. KWP is also a very good left back too - and is our only cover for Perraud unless we consider Small a viable option. KWP is also currently our only right back with Tino out for ages so he can't cover left back if Perraud gets injured or suspended. With Valery seemingly on his way, this makes sense.
  4. We've realised we can't financially compete with most teams in our league so we're signing youngsters because they're in our price range. They're also largely untested in our league. As highly rated as they may be, there's still something that makes me feel uncomfortable about it. I'm sure the scouting department know what they're doing but that's just the way I feel right now. We didn't have a pot to piss in in the Championship relegation season aside from pushing the boat out on Morgan, so of course things are different now as we do have some spending money, but whether it's wise to spend it on talented youngsters remains to be seen. I hope they come good and make it as otherwise I really think we're in danger of relegation this season.
  5. I await to see who we bring in but I agree there does seem to be echoes of the Championship relegation season in my head. Young players we're relying on to make the step up to the Premier League. It's a big jump in a tough league. Yes if they're good enough, they're old enough but are they? It may work and lots of people are excited by the new project and we may have a team of the next World superstars, I just feel a bit uncomfortable about it all. That said we can't be much worse than the second half of last season.... can we? Hopefully we address the attacking side in the next couple of weeks and I'll feel more confident about our squad.
  6. It's... OK. It looks a bit like you're wearing a white shirt over a red t shirt, but I quite like the geometry style pattern rather than just plain white. I actually prefer red-dominated shirts (or 50/50) although the 125 year Sash was my favourite shirt which contradicts that, but this is... OK. I usually get one of the shirts for Christmas from the missus so I await to see what the others look like.
  7. So, is the transfer for Romeo Dunn? Sorry, couldn't resist... 😖

In a summer when we seem to be overhauling the squad with players like Redmond and Djenepo supposedly up for sale, should we get rid of them it leaves Moi, Armstrong and Tella as number 10s. Even if we bring in one or two AMs, there are still plenty of opportunities for our youth players to get some game time, even if it is in the cups. Yes Dibling is 16 but we seem to be the team that trusts young players right now. As has been said already, joining the richest club in the world that could buy pretty much any attacking midfielder they wanted in the next few years, if he leaves us for them he may find his pathway blocked. I really hope he's not doing it for money but that seems to be the case. It'd be nice if we could push the boat out maybe and give him a good offer to stay - especially when his wage would be peanuts compared to, say, renewing Long's contract.
  9. I think what concerns us about these young players signing for us (Bazunu, Bella-Kotchap, Lavia) is that they are unknown quantities and hardly any of us know what to expect... ...but those in the know seem very positive about all three (as we'll as Colwill) so I live in hope. My concern is that in a season I think we'll be in a relegation battle (currently, I await to see our attacking signings) whether the youngsters will have the shoulders for it. We'll see. If we're the youngsters team of choice then I'd be surprised about Dibling leaving especially when there is a pathway for attacking talent in our ranks, but I guess that's Newcastle splashing their cash.
  10. I'll be keeping an eye on him - Jarrod Bowenesque. 21 with a lot of potential. Could be a good signing for Brentford if he has the same impact Bowen has had for West Ham. "Leading the race" though - just means they've put the first offer in. The end of contracts will be a big thing this week but I do hope we have an attacking signing up our sleeve. I wonder whether we'll see Longy released... More reason to offer him some first team football. Besides we need two strikers - him plus a big signing would strengthen the attack no end - and then we hope he comes good like Broja did last season if the "big" signing flops like Adam Armstrong!
  11. He's had the odd good game but then had that bad injury. He played well for ROI U21s recently so has something about him. A loan yes but I'd keep him longer term. Mind you the squad will soon start to look a bit thin up top if players leave so hopefully we bring a few more players in soon.
  12. 10 for me. Not an untried kid.
  13. ...is the correct answer but Ralph has already shown last season he preferred Long over Adam. Personally I'd have all the strikers and 10s out bar Adams and SArmstrong and start again but we can't afford to be that drastic. I'd keep AA and still add two newbies, and keep Moi and Tella and add 2 10s. The rest can jog on.
  14. Always looked decent when I've seen him. Will be a good signing for Forest.
  15. Sell Darth Vader? I bet he'd have some takers. Although he is dead now... 😏 As for Ward-Prowse, then it's a tricky one. He's just had a cracking season and is 27. This is perhaps the summer we'd get the most money for him if we did sell him close to what our asking price is. I don't think he'd fetch as much next season unless he had a better season stats wise. On the other hand we'd have been relegated without him, he's our captain, heartbeat, engine, is rarely ever unfit and a set piece expert, and has added other goal involvements to his game. He's also fairly versatile and has the ability to get under other player's skin. I want to keep him and I think the club would want to keep him but with a squad that needs an overhaul, if the right money was offered for him, I'd probably sell, if the money were to be invested in the playing staff.
  16. It'd leave us basically with Adams, Long (who hasn't agreed to extend his contract yet) and N'Lundulu. I'd like Armstrong to stay and fight for his place, but if it means bringing in two new strikers (Delap on loan and another maybe) then I'm all for it. This squad needed an overhaul and the right sounds are being made.
  17. Cardiff will be gutted.
  18. JWP has more in his locker and is in his prime. But anyway Saints would probably be delighted if no 60+ million bids came in for him this summer, especially as he's our best player and poster boy for the academy. We've already spent circa £20 million which is refreshing but I'd be surprised if we're already buying with the intention that we're going to get good money for JWP. That doesn't sound like a good business model.
  19. Username is suspicious... 🤪
  20. Southampton have attempted to deter interest from Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham in 27-year-old England midfielder James Ward-Prowse with a £75m valuation. (Give Me Sport) I don't think we'd actually get £75 million - this is a lot like Villa last year - his worth to them and his worth to us are about £30 million apart. West Ham would probably go for him if they could get him for around £40 million but that isn't going to happen. Personally I think anything north of £60 million we'd listen to, but whether anyone would want him, even at the prime of his career, is another matter. I don't think he'll go, I don't want him to go, and I don't think we're looking to sell him - but the funding for the players we're signing has to come from somewhere... unless our owners actually have put their hands in their pockets, which would be most refreshing after Gao. I think Spurs have their midfield options sewn up with Bissouma signing (they also have Bentacour, Skipp and Hojbjerg), City will probably go for the cheaper Phillips, and West Ham won't afford him. I think if he goes anywhere it'd be United (who need a major rebuild) or Newcastle (they have the money and may be looking for a big signing, although they seem to be spending money "cleverly" so far).
  21. Good? Just read his brother plays for Bournemouth...
  22. SuperSAINT is the twitter/newsnow of SaintsWeb!
  23. He wants Prem football and doesn't want to be at Bologna. Shouldn't be too hard to get this deal over the line.
  24. We have been heavily linked with Richards in the last few days so maybe there is substance in the rumour. Bring him in and we have rebuilt the leaky centre back line up. You would then assume Bednarek is off and Lyanco and Stephens are back ups. Also it'd leave Simeu to get another loan. If it was Bella-Kotchup instead of Richards then I'd still like to see one more CB. "If you're good enough, you're old enough" and the disproved "you don't win anything with kids"... bringing in quality youngsters is promising but I agree I'd like to see another leader in the team.
  25. A new contract for Salisu and we'd have these two as a partnership for a few years unless bigger clubs come calling. (Which would mean they've been a success).
