Hesketh still looks about 10yo, but then as I get older anyone 20 or younger looks about half their age. It'll be interesting to see who makes the step up permanently from tonight's team next season. I would assume Gallagher will get more game time, Reed will still be defensive midfield cover, likewise Targett behind Bertrand. McCarthy has flirted with the first team, as has Hesketh and Seager. Sinclair looked quite nippy on the left. Gazzaniga played confidently but having witnessed some dodgy performances from him in the Prem it will take a few decent performances to sway me as to how good he is. (Although I accept he was thrust in very young straight from League Two.) What say you? Can any of these guys become permanent fixtures? Depends on the positions available and strength in depth I guess. Makes me wonder if Stephens and Turnbull will be ready for next season...

Anyone else having trouble with SaintsWeb opening? Anyway cracking goal from Gallagher. And Seager's was decent too. What was Harrison Reed sent off for? I missed it.Fifteen minutes left, and I finally have control of my TV so can watch it.

Cue a seventh-place finish or worse...

End of season predictor - just for fun

I did one a while a go a few times and we ended up 6th every time ahead of Spurs. However since then the form of one or two clubs above us has dipped. I still think we'll finish 6th or 7th but it will still be a good season. A lot can happen in a short space of time though. Ask Man City. -
This for me, though difficult to drop Yoshida. I prefer Long as the impact sub. Good to have the quality. God knows the result, could go either way. Need a win, probably be a draw.

My view is if Liverpool get to the cup final, it's possible they'll have one eye on it and stutter in the league. Many of those players won't want to get injured or suspended before the F A Cup final at Wembley. Wishful thinking perhaps, though I'd rather Villa beat them anyway and we still trounce them in the league to a CL place. (Not that I think the latter will happen but you never know.) ⛄️

As long as we secure Europa, I'll be happy. Small team mentality perhaps but it will be a big step forward for the club and give fans the chance to travel to Europe. Reaching the Champions League would be dreamland, especially as it means finishing above "big clubs", but I can't see it happening. That said I would love to at least be still in the running in a few games time, properly but the wind up the skirt of the teams that are traditionally known as "bigger" than us.

I couldn't follow the game today as I was at work, but it seems it was a comfortable if unimpressive win. I predicted 2-0 before kick off and wish I had a bet on now. Hey ho. I've just seen Hull's fixture list for their last six fixtures. I would hazard a guess that they are getting relegated this season unless they pull a miracle result or two out - it's atrocious. They have to play all the big boys in their last 6 bar Burnley and Palace, and even those two will be tough. Shame, because I don't mind Hull. I thought they made some decent signings last summer.

I have no shame in linking this: [video=youtube_share;_rRxDM4zM7o] Kelvins double save, wow. And Rickie's finish... If there hadn't been a net, somebody behind the goal would have died. Literally died. Worth watching again.

Typical Saints this game, plenty of possession, some missed golden chances, but we'll still limp to a 2 nil win. Long and Morgan to score. Kelvin won't have much to do. No disrespect to Hull but our back 6 should keep them quiet, just hope the front 4 play well. I'd love us to do a Sunderland...

Boruc and Surman back at SMS. A mini reunion.

I want (I don't want but the wife has a gun to my head) the wonderful (they're not but I best say they are or she'll pull the trigger) Norwich City to win the Championship (actually she just said promoted but if I say 'win the Championship' she might at least tell the police where to find my dismembered body) as they're the greatest team to play on planet Earth bar none. (Actually bar Saints, but she's still looking edgy.) (She's gone, I think I got away with it.) I'd also like Derby to come up and Bournemouth. The teams I do think will get promoted are Norwich (seriously), Middlesborough and Watford. I care less about the teams going down, but I'd like to see Burnley stay up. Leicester, QPR and Sunderland to go down, though I do think Burnley will take the last slot.

Have the BBC got this wrong about Europa League qualification?

Probably because Carroll has been injured most of the season! ;-) -

I still maintain Blackburn could win on Wednesday, meaning Liverpool would go out. Then the battle to finish above them really begins. -
If the price is right, I would. He's a tap in merchant and it's always good to have one of those in the team. I doubt we'll get him but it'll be an interesting summer for Koeman. (If he's not poached by someone...)
-
One doesn't need that as one usually has one's head up one's own arse.
-
Yep, stumped me too on the England thread last night but corrected myself before know-it-all bods pointed it out. :-) Poor result for Portugal too. Didn't Pele play for Cape Verde Islands? (Our Pele, not Pelle or legend Pele)
-
I'd love Koeman to get a third but IMO it's nailed on for van Gaal. All victories and against near rivals in the league too. Sherwood has revived Villa, but a convincing win against a crap Sunderland isn't enough, I reckon.
-
Hes on the bench isn't he? Alongside another player we've been linked with in Eder. Edit: ignore that, it's his brother. I only saw the surname.
-
Clyne subbed off. Well shut me up.
-
He will. Arsenal will have got a good player there. ;-) I reckon Clyne will be much better this half. Can't get much worse.
-
God I hate Townsend. Glad he's going. He's tutting pretty much every time Clyne gets the ball. Yes Clyne isn't having the best game, I just hate the slimy way he does it.
-
That's his transfer fee gone up a bit...

Effing amazing! Need him back on form for us. I've never cheered an Italy goal before!
