Good attack, inexperienced defence. If that's the team, It has echoes of United's problems this season. There'll definitely be goals tonight IMO.

Wenger is in the Metro claiming that had we not sold our best players in the last few years, we would have won the title. Well durrrr, but it's not so easy in the lower leagues when we needed the money from the Bale and Oxo sales. Not to mention we perhaps wouldn't have seen the likes of Lallana's talent reaching fruition. Anyway the best thing to do is learn from it, stay in the Premier League and keep faith in the youngsters in the future. As for tonight, beat Arsenal and we must surely be considered one of the favourites for the competition even at this early stage. To be fair though, as long as we give them a hell of a game, I'm not massively worried if we go out. We could lose to worse teams.

I think he played there in a game or two in his loan spell with us in the Championship.

Very much this. I could envisage Lallana sat in his bedroom, an Everton spanking fresh in his mind, rocking on the side of his bed, clutching a copy of The Sun which is opened on the page with the Premier League table, and a tear slowly dribbles down his cheek. He walks over to his wardrobe, digs out his old SFC kit, and kisses the badge. "One day," he mutters, "One day I'll be back home." On the wall is a dartboard, a photo of Dusan Tadic adorned upon it, and three darts aimed for his heart.

Never seen someone look so depressed that they'd just scored. Fair play to Lampard though, he's still got that "arriving in the box late" technique mastered.

I also wonder what Hervé Jean-Pierre Villechaize would make of our start. I'm going to hold a séance... -
Ok, I don't usually start these but I'm rather excited for this game. We're bang in form, and saw from the Millwall game that Koeman seems to be taking the cups seriously by playing a strong team. Arsenal will probably play some fringe players for this, I can't see why we can't win at The Emirates. Play a strong side, and I think we could nick it 1-0. Mané to feature from the bench.

Great win. Ok played against 10 men for half of it but you get the feeling on another day that'd have stayed a draw. Bring on the Arse.

I have Bony in mine... :-(

I love Mayonnaise on everything. Though I'm not sure about asking for it in restaurants coz I don't know if it's mayonnaise or... -
Garth Crooks has Pelle in his team of the week, and threatens to apologise to Saints fans for tipping us to go down...

I can see us beating QPR (who were rotten today, albeit against better opposition), so a win against Swansea would see us having won 4 in a row and I would assume have us flying high in the top 4 after six games. Unthinkable really. however I do think this will be a draw at best, Swansea have started the season well and have some good players. It won't all be plain sailing as it was yesterday. I'd take a draw. (As long as we smash Arsenal in the League Cup.) :-)

I was having a glance at the NUFC website just now - is it true he was blaming the International break for his team's disorganisation? Aren't we ALL in that same boat? Pardew has lost it IMO, there's the makings of a decent team there but they need the right man to guide it. Having said that, the links of Pulis and Moyes to the managerial post won't exactly have the Geordie fans too chuffed...

So 1 point from our next two games required! :-)

They'll be in Liverpool when their fans realise we ripped them off to the tune of £50 million.

1/5th of the way to safety too!

Thanks for that. That 4th goal was a thing of beauty.

Love it. Imagine the video he'll post up when Pardew finally gets the tin tack! Anyway I'm stuck at work so was intermittently following this game on Soccer Saturday. Loving the final score, same as last season, which shows that we're perhaps AS good a team, if not better, than we were last season with the English core. Very optimistic about the season now, looking forward to MOTD tonight! More of the same please Saints. Arsenal in the cup will be very interesting...

My guess is that the chicken pot pie they serve in the restaurants of Southampton actually contains real pot.

I loves a good Saints poster. It makes it easier to cross each player off as they leave us for pastures new. :-)

I like this. We could rename James Taylor's 'Fire and Rain' to 'Maya and Mane'. (Yes I realise that's not how Mane is pronounced.)
-
He's in the last year of his contract isn't he? He hasn't got long left here, I hope he can be professional until then. He was a good addition for us as he strengthened the keeper position and didn't cost anything, but Forster is the future. My biggest hope is that when Boruc does go, we are able to sign a good back up keeper and not have of rely on the awful Gazzaniga. (Unless by some miracle he does come good.)

Mané Mané Mané, must be funny, in a rich man's world.
