  1. If we do go back to stripes, I like the idea of mixing it up a bit. A bit like: but not as ghey. (Although that is one of my favourite home strips since being a Saints fan...)
  2. Which, of course, is complete arse - someone's made that up based on how much they've heard of each player. Morgan is worth more than Shaw at the moment - and while the Shaw valuation isn't far off IMO, Morgan's is much lower than we'd get.
  3. Hypothetical question for you all to alleviate the boredom a tad. A few weeks back the question was asked of whether you'd rather win the FA Cup and get relegated (a la Wigan) or finish mid-table with no trophy. I can't find the thread, but if memory serves people would rather win the FA Cup and get relegated as that would cement another place for Saints in history. This question steps it up a tad: Next season, would you rather Southampton win the FA Cup but finish in mid-table obscurity, or finish in 4th place but with no cup win? Which would you choose?
  4. I have to say I liked the Sash - my favourite kit. That said I reckon it'll be between stripes and how it is currently - and stripes (or two-tone like the Air Florida kit) wins that vote, not that I have any major problems with the current shirt, it's just I grew up with Saints wearing stripes.
  5. http://threeandin.com/?p=20864 WBA's Brunt, Fulham's Diarra and Reading's Pearce is who this article links us with. Brunt would be a useful signing I agree, I'm not sure Pearce would add anything more than we already have, and Diarra is at the tail end of his career, so no to those two. Surely WBA wouldn't want to lose Brunt though? He's only 28.
  6. True - I see Harry Redknapp finally got the 3 points he's been after for weeks too!
  7. I'm working so will miss it. I can however state that the Bayern fans were louder coming through Heathrow... I'll catch the highlights later. With no Gotze, I think Bayern will have too much for Bayern - only Lewandowski will have something to say about that...
  8. He's been in Sainsbury's once. He took 3 of his own bags too. When the checkout attendant asked how many he'd used, he lied and said 6. He'd do anything for an extra 3 points.
  9. NI Cola - he's bringing out his own brand.
  10. Are we sure one of them is not Kelvin Davis, the Maori MP?
  11. Wark? As in Kirsty Wark? It takes all sorts...
  12. # Gonna get me a tattoo.
  13. Stoke want Mark Hughes? They might as well have stuck with Pulis. If they're determined to change their style, Martinez would be perfect for that job, aside from the fact I think he'll have one more season at Wigan to push for promotion.
  14. This is why I think we need a first choice left back brought into the club to provide Shaw with competition. It's a long season and we've already seen the niggling injuries Shaw picks up. He's 17, and he'll still get games, but we need more than a back up brought in for his position IMO.
  15. Good point - I even included him in my second post! Perhaps the biggest waste of money of all - and that website didn't even include him!
  16. Big money for us, according to the era in which it was spent. For example Clyne is in the top 10 in that list, but is a modern signing, so actually was cheap compared to Rodriguez and Ramirez made in the same summer. Whereas Delap and Delgado were big money signings from the past for us - and both were not worth the money we spend. Delap did a job for us (one of the ones I said you could argue about) but was he really worth the £4 odd million we spent on him? I don't think so. There appears to be a lot of wasted money on that list.
  17. I was having a look at our most expensive signings and it doesn't make great reading. With big money set to be spent this summer, I hope we can buy players better than some of these. (Information from transfermarkt.co.uk http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/fc-southampton/transferrekorde/verein_180.html) Top 25 are: Ramirez Rodriguez Delap Phillips Forren Mayuka Prutton Clyne Gazzaniga Quashie Van Damme Niemi Crouch Rasiak Svensson (M) Yoshida Ormerod Hirst Ripley Higginbottom Draper McCann Skacel Sharp Fox Players from that list that have been very good (IMO) are Rodriguez (although has he showed £7million of talent yet?), Clyne, Niemi, Crouch, Rasiak and Svensson. 6 from 25, although you could argue that a few of the others have done good jobs. Are you concerned about big money signings not coming good? Last summer we did very well from smaller money signings like Clyne and Davis. Are we just good bargain hunters? Do you think the voodoo on signing decent big money talent will end this summer? Or do you think we ARE actually good at spending big money? Discuss.
  18. For your delectation, the ******** that is ClubCall states Forren has the arse on because he's been overlooked for Norway. http://www.clubcall.com/southampton/forren-furious-after-new-selection-blow-1593418.html Rip into this as you wish...
  19. Bent on a free would be a better signing than Cole on a free but I expect we're looking at bigger fish now. One of the promoted teams can snap up Cole and Bent.
  20. If we sign Carlton Cole, I'll stick my fingers up my bum and eat whatever I pull out. Which would probably be Carlton Cole. Because he's crap. Geddit...
  21. Absolutely this - but I doubt there's a team in the whole of the Premier League that wouldn't want him. Cracking first season for him at this level. As for West Ham, I know they have a bit of money behind them, but if they spunk £15 million on Carroll, they surely can't have much left for other players - although their capture of Razvan Rat yesterday was clever.
  22. Bearsy been busy now he has more time on his hands... #2
  23. Gabby Agbonlahor can't be too far away from a recall, his form has been good of late. As for Lambert, forget it - it's possible that JRod would get a chance before Rickie, and he's still way down the list.
  24. I've mentioned that we should be looking to buy a first team left back, Shaw has shown he gets a lot of niggling injuries and is still young and learning the game - Enrique would be a cracking signing in that position to provide superb competition with Shaw, and is flexible enough to push up if we wish to play both. Of course this could be a replacement for Shaw - we all hope not.
  25. With the season just over, and no signings made, I predict it would finish almost exactly the same as this season's. I'll amend that closer to the start of next season.
