  1. No need for the Meltdown Alarm quite yet. The Mail still don't have it running. When they do, then we can melt.
  2. My thinking - if he wants £6m, then he should go to Everton and I hope that Saints do not try and match it. That's £115k a week. If those are the figures and we do match it, then to me, that is yet another nail in the football coffin. I am finding the whole thing utterly ridiculous. Players wages of £300k. Now in some parallel world where sanity was still in existence, if you took some kid out of Toxteth and said to him that his max wage playing football (where no qualifications were necessary) was going to be £10k a week, I'm not sure too many would say that they couldn't be bothered to get out of bed for that. £500k a year isn't a bad wage. Transfer fees in the £50-70m region. The whole thing is completely mad. Sky and BT constantly putting their prices up. Hopefully this is a South Sea Bubble.
  3. I won't believe anything until it is in the Mail.
  4. Funny how things move. Sky Bet saying Emery 2/1 Fav then RK at 5/2
  5. 7/4 Everton's next manager 13/2 Arsenal's next manager
  6. 2.5 vs 6
  7. Haha - answer that one Napalm.
  8. Midfield: Alli, Barkley, Dier, Henderson, Lallana, Milner, Sterling, Wilshere. If one of the CB's get injured, Dier will deputise. Who then will deputise for Dier? Who will be the defensive midfielders? It certainly won't be Alli, Lallana, Sterling or Wilshere. So that leaves Barkley, Henderson and Milner. Henderson is coming back from a fairly serious injury. Milner generally plays further up as does Barkley. Drinkwater might have been a better defensive midfield option in case Dier needed to move into the back line.
  9. Is Wheelchair fit enough to go?
  10. LOL - nice to see a bit of honesty. Re the OP, papers need to sensationalise things. Click bait exposes you to adverts which pays for things. Write something with a controversial headline and you reel in a lot of people.
  11. Welcome ref15. Showing the usual lack of grace that teams living in the shadow of a bigger neighbour seem to always have these days. Why do they always have inferiority complexes? Yes, we know EFC are bigger than us, no one is disputing that. (Should I put FACT here to add some gravitas to the statement?) So what? What exactly was the point you were wanting to make, as you haven't made one yet? And your putting "there was a premier league you know pre-2012?" suggests that you came to football post 1992 and therefore have a mentality towards opposing clubs that is pretty unattractive, mirroring football in general. It would be nice to get some "proper" old school Everton fans discussing things, rather than a wannabe.
  12. No surprise that there are lots of Liverpool players (at the expense of at least one Leicester player).
  13. I agree. He made his bed, he can lie in it. Pretty much sums the problems of the PL up. People are always chasing the big bucks. He had so much time on his side, that he could have stayed with us and developed for 5 years before making his move. But no, presume it was his agent who said he must go without waiting. Another question is, why should we help his progression only for him to return to Arsenal (presumably) a better player? Seems very detrimental to us if we do want to push on and challenge for a CL spot to help strengthen a competitor's squad. With regards to scouting him at the Toulon Cup, I would suspect that the scouts were looking at Redmond rather than Chambers. Or possible Lewis Baker but presume Chelsea would hold on for a while.
  14. Given the price of strikers, wouldn't it be best to offer him a 2 year extension? Agree that he is a key asset.
  15. Gazza? £2.5m was quite a lot for him, and he has proved that he isn't good enough to be even back up goalie. Not sure what we are doing with him, nor why we extended his contract.
  16. But would you dress like that.....?
  17. How do you increase the size of your "tribe"? Make U11 season tickets in the family bit £50, which is what they are. That's £2.63 a game which to me is ****ing good value for money for a nipper. No idea how many tickets at that price are available though. U11 behind the goals is £9 a game and in the wings a little bit less per game. Not sure you can complain about that. Even the non-premium Kinglsnad/Itchen seats work out at less than £12 per game.
  18. How do you know? Tsk, all this negativity!!
  19. Interesting though as to what his value might be now. Certainly not the £12m we signed him for, even half way through his contract and even at his age. He had a frustrating start to the season being sub the whole time. When he got his chance with Pelle being injured, he took it and became first choice on the team sheet. Now someone said maybe he could even crack 20 goals next season. Given the 2nd half of the season performance, I have had that thought as well. Bit more shooting accuracy and voila. Now what are 20 goal a season strikers worth THESE days? This is from February 2014: http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2014/02/24/premier-league-goals-worth-915k-each-last-season-and-1-5m-now-240201/ - might it be safe to round the figure up from £1.5m per goal to £2m seeing as 2 years have passed and the money in the game changed a lot? Not that I totally agree with the valuation, but anyway. He got 10 league goals @ £2m each = £20m. Having said I don't agree with the valuation, the likes of Man U will spunk away £50m on a 20-25 goal a season striker.
  20. Yup Nordic, it was laid on a bit thick to say the least. I don't think that you will find any fan who under rates him like they did when this thread started. Actually, I suppose there is bound to be a gormless one or two, there always is, but ask anyone here and the only thing negative about him that people will say, is possibly "consistency".
  21. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/674611/Spurs-Transfer-News-Mauricio-Pochettino-Southampton-Shane-Long-agent Well that's that then. If not Liverpool, it's Spurs.
  22. Very droll. I think I said Garmin months before this thread started. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?56265-Shirt-sponsor&p=2320227#post2320227
  23. The questionnaire just emailed had a few questions about current sponsors and some in particular about Garmin. So I'm sticking with Garmin.
  24. Now let's be blunt about this....this season, Mané has been possibly our best player, certainly our best player when on song, and one of the best we've ever had. If he did that every game, then there would be less/little doubt about it. We don't want to sell him. We have said we don't want to and so far we haven't, but we are pragmatic about life. With Classie, he hasn't found his feet yet. I think that most Saints fans would agree with that, obviously apart from you Nordic, as you seem to think the complete opposite.
  25. It was fascinating going back to the OP and seeing reactions.
