  1. I actually feel a little bit sorry for him. OK, his behaviour was that of a true ****, but I'm pragmatic about these things and understand why he did it. Still, it doesn't stop the feeling of childish schadenfreude that I have.
  2. Errr, he doesn't seem to be in the squad, so not even warming the bench. Is he really THAT bad?
  3. It's because it's the way the league is and seemingly always will be. What I find interesting now, is that it in't a big 7 so much now, but a 6 with Everton having dropped off. I know they spent £28m on a player, but the vultures are circling and not sure that they will be able to keep their best players. I'd be gutted to, but pragmatic. To my mind, we've got 4 big games left where we will likely/definitely be under dogs - Chelsea/Man City away, and Liverpool/Spurs home. That's not to belittle any of the other games especially the likes of WHU and Everton, as there are no easy games in this league. People say that our squad is small, but I think that they do us a disservice. However, I am not sure we can take many more injuries as well as the ACN/AC.
  4. I do like the bit about the penalty where it seems to be a given that had they been awarded it, they would have scored. http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Premier_League_Penalty_Statistics.html Seems that there is about a 20% chance that they would have not.
  5. He's a has been from a different era and really should be put out to pasture. Hasn't played for 25 years (gave up before PL even existed) and didn't manage either. But really, who gives a **** what any pundit says. The only notice I'll take is if it comes from the players on the pitch or the management/board of SFC. All the rest is pretty meaningless.
  6. I guess we should thank Sunderland for letting us use their training facilities. Not sure how common it is for them or any other PL side to let one of their competitors use their camp. Maybe it's a Sunderland/Newcastle thing.
  7. I thought that most of his pieces were about FFP rather than the blocking off of the top of the table. I did point out to him, which he admitted he didn't know, that Germany is just as bad if not worse. Italy and Spain are the same really. Hadn't read that, maybe due to the publication not being hugely mainstream, but it rather (as they say) depends whether we "will be able to keep hold of their overachieving stars during the current and the next transfer window ." If Sunderland can splash £80k per week on Defoe, does that mean we could as well? I know their crowds are higher, but is that it or is there something else?
  8. Surreal?? I'd be disappointed with runners up! Anyway, different City this 2nd half
  9. My problem in all this is why journos are not questioning why the top 4 is such a closed shop and why it is so harmful to the league that it is. Let's face it, we are a blip in proceedings now and even more so if we do actually manage to finish top 4. I imagine that the wages on offer from the big boys will then rip the side to pieces again over the summer, and normal order will be restored. Why don't journos write about that and why it is that it is so "strange" to see little old Southampton being plucky and where they are? They are complicit in the acceptance of the usual hierarchy of football, that has me and so many so close to giving up on things.
  10. We won't catch Man City? Why not? They are 5 points ahead with a game in hand and we play each other on the last game of the season. That means that if they lose today, then it's max points dropped one more time than us as well as against us. Chances are that they will drop less than us, given the size of the squad, but at some stage we have to stop having this small club mentality at least we do for this season. Might as well dream and be unrealistic while sitting in 3rd with 16 games to go.
  11. **** that! I want 2nd place as I think Chelsea might be a wee bit too far in front of us
  12. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2540218/Liebherr-dream-wrecker-How-3bn-heiress-whos-never-shown-football-ousted-man-Saints-fans-believe-again.html Ashton's bit about the "Dream Wrecker". I can never work out who the bigger **** is - Ashton or Durham?
  13. Ah ha. Got my glasses on and sorted.
  14. Can anyone explain how to use the online thing to get my "season ticket" seat?
  15. Durham is a complete c***. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it and am surprised that this prig is still employed by anyone. talk****e - H&J I find amusing, but as soon as Durham at that equally moronic Gough come on, I have to turn the radio off. I take no notice of what he has to say or write, but if he is whinging about us, then that's absolutely fine by me, and if as a neutral he didn't enjoy it, then tough. In fact the more that we bore him the better. But the reality is, that he is neither very intelligent, nor very knowledgeable about football and certainly not Southampton Football Club. People think that he is a WUM in order to create debate, but that is incorrect. He says stupid things because he is stupid, and too stupid to realise that he is stupid.
  16. MLG - what the Mail have done is got the image from Getty Images and used their descriptive. Lazy journalism? Yes, partially with the Mail, but primarily with Getty. http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/brown-ideye-of-west-brom-is-tackled-by-jack-cork-of-news-photo/454010414
  17. http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/southampton-striker-osvaldo-set-serie-a-stay-if-inter-milan-end-loan-4058171?utm_source=main_feed If that article is true, training away from the 1st team means he is finished, or I would have thought so. Which then means the other teams mentioned may or may not be interested...but Sunderland????
  18. Pleased for Punch getting one over MP who flogged him to Palace. Interesting stats. Spuds 59% possession. 536 passes to CP's 370, but 16 crosses compared to 21 for CP and 9 shots compared to 21 for CP. So seems it was quite a typical MP performance. Lots of possession but that's about it.
  19. He does come across as a lot more contrite than Balotelli, who the papers immediately labelled him as the Dutch version of. He seems to realise that this is a chance, maybe one of his last, unlike Balotelli who seems to be on his own little planet. Hopefully that will last and he will grab it with both hands. Comes across as having the right amount of arrogance (which I think all the best/good players need) and humility.
  20. His career is Welling (105) > Weymouth (40) > Saints (83) > Norwich (71) > Chelsea (110) > Villa (134) > Boro (77) > West Brom (18 ) So a bit of a journeyman average player. TBH, while he has had a memory lapse about his time here at Saints, I think it fair enough to go on about a club or two where you made most of your appearances. So as he bangs on about being at Chelsea, he should do more so about his time at Villa. But no, Villa aren't "cool" like Chelsea are. He may think it portrays him as some superstar ex football player, but we all know that he was an average player who wasn't good enough to get in the England squad some trawled around for some Irish relative (his grandmother).
  21. The worst and most sycophantic commentator out there. Hopefully no one else will offer him a contract as he is utter ****.
  22. Christian Fuchs (of Austria and Schalke)
  23. And what about the ones who aren't vomiting/bleeding or showing symptoms? That Scottish nurse seemed to get through, albeit the screening was likely to be inadequate, but do you think it would be any better in the relevant places in Africa?
  24. Sue, that struck me as well. Maybe in the heat of the summer "meltdown", we gave him away so that we could wash our hands of him, didn't publicise it as it would just have added to the flames. Hopefully that is the case, and that while we made a loss, we got a few quid for him.
  25. Wasn't he available? I thought that he wasn't match fit, but signed on 3rd Jan at 00:01
