  1. Camb, I would disagree with you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes'_list_of_the_most_valuable_football_clubs If they were in any other league, chances are that they would be CL the whole time. Their problem is that there are 5 bigger teams than them in this country.
  2. Of course everyone assumes that. We're little old Saints and when bigger clubs come calling of course everyone wants to jump at the chance. We have no ambition.
  3. It is refreshing to see those journos who want us/WHU/etc to be there to breath fresh life into things. While they don't always write about it (Martin Samuel does), I think it is tacit acknowledgment that the dominance by a few clubs isn't good (albeit better than other leagues). Then there are others who are happier with the laissez faire. Maybe they are too close to certain clubs. Maybe they think that their articles might help them or harm us. Maybe it is de rigueur to put down over achievers. A good man manager should be able to use all that to his advantage, and I think it has been. I agree though that journos just writing our chances off is a little silly, condescending, etc. But that's the way it is and most supporters think their club gets unfavourable treatment. Not sure you will find many ManU/C, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton who would think they are getting good treatment.
  4. I'm rather bored of all these players giving ultimatums and telling the club what they will and won't be doing (while obviously forgetting the contract they signed).

    JayRod

Would Brenda dare buy another player from us? There might be a couple, but JRod isn't one of them at £20m I wouldn't have thought.
  6. LOL. Out of interest, what formation were Leicester playing today. I couldn't work out whether it was a 4-4-2 or an 8-1-1 or a 10-0

    Van Gaal

Not sure I agree. It is about the respect that the players give the manager, which is wholly wrong but seemingly one of the facets of the modern game. You don't have the players' respect, then you're history. It's one of the reasons I reckon Saints are doing so well at the moment. While many might not have been that aware of football when he was playing (or even alive), he has one of the better reputations in the game so the players can't turn around and say "well you never did it". No disrespect to Dyche, but I hardly think the Falcao's of this world would look up to someone whose main club (231 appearances over 7 years) was Chesterfield.
  8. Person I was going with has called off sick as are most others around me who aren't already going to the game. Guess many have looked out the window and thought the rugby was more appealing. Anyway, one ticket spare which would mean sitting next to me (which won't be a great experience ).
  9. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/408693/Liverpool-COULD-face-UEFA-action-Brendan-Rodgers-Real-Madrid-team?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+daily-star-football+(Daily+Star+%3A%3A+Football+Feed) This would be really ****ing funny if it came to pass.
  10. Oh - in all the excitement of the summer that one passed me by. Apart from being hugely disingenuous, it makes it all the sweeter that he is failing (at present). But, I don't feel sorry for Liverpool, nobody forced them to sell their best player. They gave up their ambitions to be in the CL (as evidenced by the pïss poor showing at Real). It was their choice. Karma.

    Van Gaal

Mourinho - at least he knows he's a **** so that sort of makes him not a **** Koeman - no need to say anything Pelligrini - ambivalent Wenger - becomes a bigger **** as time goes on Fat Sam - is a fat **** but maybe not given this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd65g3hqJrk Monk - ambivalent Bretna - **** of the hugest order Poch - **** Matinez - ambivalent Gaal - arrogant **** Irvine - anonymous Pardew - undecided Hughes - **** Bruce - I like him Poyet - **** Lambert - **** Warnock - **** but at least he speaks his mind Pearson - feel bad about the way we sacked him Redcrap - saggy **** Dyche - seems humble enough.
  12. That's just the lack of proof reading that is all too common with DM these days....apparently (not that I would know as I'm not a DM reader )
  13. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2825021/Liverpool-Chelsea-recouped-close-75m-summer-Brendan-Rodgers-got-wrong.html A fairly accurate appraisal. But it's sad that clubs are now going to think that the only answer is buying from abroad, although that might help us keep hold of ours. Having said that, I see more reports of Wenger and Morgan appearing.
  14. If we are going to win the league () then that's not a great result, BUT, yup, a Liverpool defeat would be good. And while they are losing, they might as well lose by a good four of five goals. for good measure.
  15. Apart from Kane, who would you take?
  16. It's sad that we have got the same old **** that we have had for years. OK there is the inclusion of a youngster or two, but the manager is doing same old, same old. We need to do a Germany. Start from scratch. Accept that we are going to lose and not do well for a few years, but ultimately come out stronger.Even then, the young German team in South Africa that wasn't expected to do well, spanked us good and proper. And then they had Brazil. Roy has no balls. After the disaster of England in Brazil, he had a blank canvas. Even before going to Brazil he had a blank canvas and should have grasped that opportunity. All he did was take some youngish players, but stick to the same crap that we have endured for years and then have the gall to say that he thought the team did well at the WC. But no. We are stuck with some dinosaur. Maybe it is the right way to go in appointing a young manager, even if he has no club experience. Hell, I would rather Gary Neville manage the team than Hodgson. The results might not be great, but at least we would try and change to get better rather than the turgid crap that we have from a manager who is always trying to justify his **** selections. Can't remember the last time I really enjoyed an England game. 1-5 against Germany? 4-1 against Netherlands? Didn't see the game where Theo got his hat-trick.
  17. Why have Walcott in? Why have Lambert in? And Smalling....God help us.
  18. Agree. But the article is complete load of pompous twaddle. One big problem is that the author says we will regress to the mean as if finishing positions in the PL are immutable.
  19. Hence why our physio was poached by United?
  20. Certainly Tadic was mentioned as being on the radar. But I would have thought, if the scouts are so good, that the player with the 3rd best scoring record in Europe after Messi and Ronaldo would be a known quantity. That's not to say that RK was not heavily involved.
  21. Wish Ralph hadn't waved the scarf around with such a lack of reverence
  22. Because it gives a bigger sense of elation when it transpires that I was wrong.
  23. hull City v Southampton W Southampton v Leicester W Villa v Southampton W Southampton v Man City W Arsenal v Southampton W Southampton v Man U W Burnley v Southampton W Southampton v Everton W Crystal Palace v Southampton W Southampton v Chelsea D
  24. Looking forward to a funky video
  25. that seems to be the consensus. But what's the point of being part of the competition if you go to lose? Talksport has just had that ex Liverpool German player who said that if you asked any Liverpool fan, they would have taken a 1-0 defeat. Where is the ambition? Sure Real are favourites but if you can't be arsed to try and compete...... So why are they prioritising Chelsea? To try and finish top 4 and join CL? Well they are already in CL so why not concentrate on that? Amazing seeing all the Liverpool lovers trying to fend off the decision and think it a good one.
