Funny that people on the FB are getting the hump due to all the Arabic. Who cares? And really, if we are going to expand our fan base and stature in the world along with commercial income, why get ****ed off with all the Algerians? I welcome any new supporter to the club. Do these people who have the hump begrudge all those Japanese people who (used to) turn up at SMS?
-
Could Jack Cork or Big Vic drop back into CB or even play just in front of a back 3, sweeping between defence and midfield?
-
Not many English starters
-
Not me, as no idea what this game is.
-
Might the problem also be that it is Spurs? Didn't someone (was it Guano2) say that we were going to refuse to do any business with Spurs?
-
I know it's not what you are going on about but, still remember him taking a penalty and blazing it so far over the bar that it ended up in Milton Road (well that might be an exaggeration, but it was the worst penalty I have ever witnessed).
-
Not a good idea. lots of areas at SMS that you can sit with away/neutral fans with out bother IF they don't take the **** and show respect for the home fans and where they are.

CC seems to be being beaten quite easily a couple of times. Not looking fantastic, but better going forward.
-
Don't buy that. I accept that the reaction to CC might not have been quite what was expected, but to be honest, it wasn't for many any different than their current reactions. Just because it seemed to us, the press and most others that the situation was out of control, it doesn't mean that it was. Lambert, Lallana and Shaw was seemingly planned. Lovren transfer request seemed to be planned for (having received the request) given that it took a number of weeks to conclude. Chambers - who knows what had been going on behind the scenes? He may well turn out to be the dog's but £16m for 20 PL games is a ridiculous amount, well at least to me it is. Anyway, back to not buying it. So we raised a lot of cash, but we have also shelled out a not inconsiderable amount. I don't really buy into Reed's all the money will be for purchases and wages or rather, I am not sure quite what he means (which I suspect is how it was supposed to come across). I have no problems selling high, replacing lower, and using the difference elsewhere, even if the owner wants to take some money out. In fact I would be happier if she did, as that way she can run it as a proper business investment. But I don't buy that we have had a complete volte face and gone from selling everything to now signing £10m players because of adverse reaction from supporters.

Well that's very clear. Sounds like it's a done deal, but who knows with that level of translation!

Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez

Clubs work on the cost of the player plus wages, not least so they know their liabilities. If they get a player in on a free, give a better than expected wage, then both parties "win". -
it frustrates me that he doesn't focus on the bigger picture in that PL is broken. When will a journo actually address the real problems at hand?
-
Interesting bit on Talk****e. Their pundit sort of siding with Saints over the contract issue and that players couldn't just **** off as and when they want. They also said that if he wants off then he should submit a written transfer request which they don't. There was some derision over this, in that players get paid so bloody well as it is, that it is a little rich to also expect loyalty bonuses on top. As it is, aren't transfer requests just as useless as the player wishing to be off in that they have no bearing over the contract and the club can just refuse it?

Any idea of attendance? Was going to make it, but plane arrived later than I thought.

Would prefer Daily Star's value of £8m to be true, but who knows.....I suppose it will be "undisclosed".

Arsenal in for Big Vic?? http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/08/09/arsenal-plot-second-southampton-raid-with-15m-bid-for-midfield-powerhouse/ Not sure I see this being true, but **** knows, the whole football keeps on surprising me. Wouldn't have thought that £15m would be enough given the amount we spent on him last season.
-
Hoping that the stories about a falling out with MP are true as if RK can get him going then it will be like a new signing. Just hope it was personal rather than football related. At the back end of last season he showed some really good touches.

But where do you stop? I have a kid with Angelman Syndrome so he would fall under the category of being a "retard" that insult that is so flippantly used by so many these days. To be honest, life throws enough challenges up that you realise what is important and someone calling someone else a retard really doesn't even register on the scale save to show someone's ignorance. Anyway, looking forward to signing another CB.

Redslo, it seems patience is not a virtue that football players have. Or maybe their agents are impatient and the players are exceedingly malleable. -
would far prefer European to South American,
-
Thanks sweetie, but I wasn't apologizing for anyone. You need to see what is derogatory. A **** is. An Argie **** is as well. But Argie to me is not being racist. And tell me, what race are the Argies? Mostly now of European descent, as we are. Admittedly they are southern we are northern. and no doubt they have some indigenous blood in them. But basically I would have thought they were Caucasian like us.
-
Ahhh, accusations of racism. Strange thing racism. It gets bandied around like confetti these days depending on ones outlook. Nothing racist at all to me, xenophobic instead, but then that is a much longer word to write. Even then is it xenophobic or just a flippant use of country of origin as a descriptive?
-
Charlie you are wrong. We don't have to sell. Contract is king. But of course we all know the practicalities.
-
Sure we would, but we would be bound by our contracts unless a mutual decision can be reached. Same here. The ultimate power is in the contract.
