I was at that game and my old memory, which is not that good at the best of times, seems to always think it was 4-1 with us scoring an og Edit - so googling, it was 4-2. Tip, Google before posting rubbish

Umm, here's an 18yo for you along with his stats.......http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/michael-owen/leistungsdaten/spieler_1397_1997.html#GB1

I was on line as well, and when coverage fell off for 5-10 minutes, I really didn't get too upset. Nor did I go walkabout as I usually do when I watch on line or TV.

Isn't there a conspiracy theory that apparently the Israelis know or found out that the Taliban in Afghansitan had captured some drone technology and for some reason or other, the easiest way to flog it to the Chinese was sending it via Malaysia and putting it on one of their daily flights to Beijing. Quite why they would go this route when China shares a border with Afghanistan, and for that matter Pakistan, is anyone's guess. I wonder if they ever traced the 5 people who didn't board the plane and why they didn't.
-
Glad they did. For some reason I really don't want Liverpool to win the PL. Not sure exactly why. In recent weeks I do know that I have firmed up this opinion, because I have heard so many people pontificating about all neutrals wanting Liverpool to win.

1) People cannot seem to tell the difference between a pejorative comment, a flippant one and a rude one and therefore label everything as racist. 2) I was also taught when growing up, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me". 3) These people who are continually outraged and accuse everything and anything as racist, need to get out more. 4) Racism is a white man's disease, and only white people can be racist - apparently! Being coy about things and calling it the "N word" is utterly pathetic. We had people saying the "Y word" when talking about Spurs chanting about being Yids.

Urr, that would be £2.50 per ticket, so that would be £5. It's like Bournemouth Airport charging £2.50 to be dropped off. In the scheme of things, your holiday/flight costs a lot more and you already pay to use the airport (via your ticket), yet you get charged extra. Squeeze every last drop out of you. Sometimes I wish I didn't love Saints so much.
-
Why are you/we/everyone charged £2.50 per ticket for card sales? I think that really does take the **** in a Ryanair way. You pay £700 odd and then they slap £2.50 on top. Pathetic.

What is the weirdest own goal scored at a Saints game?
angelman replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
Totally off topic, but looking at that link, look how many British players there were!!! How times have changed. -
I am not sure if that is a little unfair or not. Ashley seems to have give AP a 6 year contract and then not wanted to back him. This season was a right off as soon as Cabaye was sold. If you give someone such a long term contract, then I would have thought it would be advisable to back him rather than hinder him. I do wonder whether anyone else would have done a better job than AP in his situation, being hamstrung by cockneys at every turn. As for long term contracts, and if you are going to back the manager, then it does make sense so long as the relationship doesn't fall down. Looking at ManU and SAF, and to a lesser extent Arse and Whinger, a stable management team which is in place long term does produce results. And who benefits from such a long term contract? Certainly not the club, save for giving the manager a big vote of confidence (not that MP needs it), as if you sack someone, then the contract needs to be paid up - maybe that it the hardest bit to agree in negotiations, along with what the club's plans are. As WGS said, being sacked as a manager isn't like being sacked in the normal sense.

What the hell is the matter with the Daily Mail ???

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2616020/Frank-Boer-wait-end-season-talk-sleeping-giants-Spurs-approached-move.htm One thing about the Mail is that they are bloody confusing. They have the above on the same day the say MP is off there. -
Eight-placed finish - what does this mean for us in practice?
angelman replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
For a PL team joining in the 3rd round, winning it brings in (excluding TV and gate receipts) £3,397,500 for the winner and £900k less for the loser. So finishing 8th brings in about the same as finishing 9th and being losing finalist. Then as losing finalist we would have gone into the Europa League, which brings in more regardless of whether you think it a good competition to be in or not. The prize fund for the Europa League is pretty **** for the hassle (more money & more hassle than the FA Cup), until you reach the final First qualifying round: €120,000 Second qualifying round: €130,000 Third qualifying round: €140,000 Play-off round elimination: €150,000 Base fee for group stage: €1,300,000 Group match victory: €200,000 Group match draw: €100,000 Group winners: €400,000 Group runners-up: €200,000 Round of 32: €200,000 Round of 16: €350,000 Quarter-finals: €450,000 Semi-finals: €1,000,000 Losing finalist: €2,500,000 Winners: €5,000,000 -

What the hell is the matter with the Daily Mail ???
angelman replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
It is strange, that having been through one of the best seasons for a long time, my love of football is fast dwindling. If it carries on at this rate, I am wondering whether I'll even get to the stage of bothering to renew the season ticket. I probably will as my old man likes it to fill his days. The press are, I think, one of the reasons. The arrogance of the bigger clubs, or rather it is just reality, who act as they want and the sycophancy of journalists reinforcing it is very unattractive and very unappealing. They buy into the PL package and tow the line, so that they can collect any scraps that are thrown to them. I guess that at least we don't (yet) have a club like Newcastle, who seem in absolute meltdown as usual. -
I have no idea how old you are and whether you knew football before PL. I suspect you don't otherwise you wouldn't ask the question, as PL has ruined football in this country, save for a small handful of people who have profited very handsomely.
-
Sums up what is wrong with football. Best ever PL finish - why? Did football start with the PL? No, of course not, just a new era that is practically a closed shop for those who are able to win it. What actually are we doing - playing for 6th place? Or 7th? If NUFC lose tonight, 8th place is where we will finish for definite barring a 20 odd goal change in GD. About the best that could be expected, as all those above us were expected to be above us.

My old man was wondering how these chants start and spread so effectively. It was by far the best chant this season. I laughed, as did most around me. What did the Everton lot think of it?
-
did Baines take a knock? seemed to be holding his leg/knee a fair bit 2nd half. Was a bit anonymous today.
-
Difficult to give MotM today. Clyne, Cork and Davies all were brilliant, but Cork gets it for me.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you with saints at the moment?
angelman replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
Very pleased that we can dominate games. Very disappointed that we can't kill them off. Very very pleased to see our home grown players shine, very disappointed that our two expensive players are failures, with the third being a bit iffy. We cannot afford to frig around and sign players like Osvaldo or Ramirez. -
Fugu is always quite an interesting dish, as if cooked wrong it will kill you. The chef has to train for something like 2 years before he is allowed to cook it (in Japan). I think that my business partner's chef didn't do a great job as her mouth went numb for a few hours.
-
I hope that this closed season isn't the straw that breaks my camel's back. I am getting very disillusioned with the PL and finding that I cannot (or rather, do not want to) accept the way that it is all favoured towards the bigger clubs. I can't really see the point of getting excited about a competition where there is little to no chance of the hierarchy changing. Our first season back was interesting to see whether we would survive. This season has been interesting to see if we can flourish. But if next season is back to square one what with our squad having been raped, then maybe it would be better to give up on the game.
