  1. And maybe at the same time, he can find a club that is right royally ****ed off with us for signing (or trying to) one of their players?
  2. I've now actually read the article and the main line seems to be - "It's also very physical football and maybe I did not find the right team for my game" - so maybe my accusation of being self-entitled is a bit off the mark. To me, this sentence is tacitly acknowledging that he wasn't up to it physically, although his other comments seem to (probably naturally) want to lay the blame elsewhere rather than at his own feet. Self aggrandisement is common place with football players and its always someone else's fault. The fact that I find strange is that he has never played 4 games in a row without being subbed - ie no 90 mins 4 times in a row. This season at Sampa , he seems to have done 2 league games - 68 & 76 minutes.
  3. He played 26 times for us in his first season. He trained with the squad solidly for 2 years. He was given all the chances that he could possibly expect. There is a misplaced sense of entitlement and that he should be an automatic shoe in.
  4. I think people reach that presumption as he is playing for his national side, not that that is any guarantee. Then I guess if you are going to spend £15m on a player, he is likely to be an upgrade on what you have, at least at a club our size.
  5. I think that's a little harsh on JS. Of course he is behind vD and probably Hoedt, so his job now is to learn from the better players, so that when they leave, he will be able to step up much improved. Hard on him, esp given that he has had the taste of the PL, but that's the way it is. Having said that, I like watching him and am happy enough for him to take his place in the starting line up. Is he better than Yoshida?? That's the main question. And a lesser question is what happens to Gardos. You might also ask whether, given the disaster that the Wolves game was, is JS also being groomed to play as DM?
  6. Meanwhile, the Daily Express is still going on about "it"........http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/850976/Liverpool-Transfer-News-Virgil-van-Dijk-January-Andy-Kelly-Southampton Now I had no idea who this Andy Kelly is, but curiosity got the better of me (and I had to delve into the article), and he seems to be editor of the Liverpool Echo. I look forward to the build up and actual January window, and probably next summer's window as well.
  7. I get a warm fuzzy sanctimonious feeling from being magnanimous and what better way to achieve that than to welcome back a "prodigal son"?
  8. Not that I claim to be hip and with it, but I've known and referred to them as the Dildo Brothers for years.
  9. What do you mean that the Dildo Brothers name could stick? That is what they have been referred as for years.
  10. Barca, the problem with putting your hand on your heart and saying you don't want him at Saints again, is that that is exactly what his ploy was. So if that course of action is taken, he gets what he want by p1ssing all over the club in the way he has. I'm sure that there will be little to no contrition, and maybe the agent might get a bit of the blame shifted on to him. But still, while I agree with a lot of your sentiments, I will still not boo him unless he deliberately plays to the detriment of the team.
  11. If you knew anything about autism, you probably wouldn't be using it so flippantly. You just come across as incredibly ignorant.
  12. I find it quite amusing that Advocaat basically told us to sell him to Liverpool, and then we go and sign his other CB.
  13. Never sure if the Express gets anything right, but Liverpool and Saints might have similar issues .....http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/850110/Liverpool-news-Philippe-Coutinho-Champions-League-Barcelona-transfer-gossip-rumours So this supposed power swing away from the player and back to the club, might just turn out with players refusing to play and be a rather hollow swing. And then what do you do?
  14. Am I right in thinking that you are only allowed to increase your wage bill by £7m a year (not that that will allow us to ever catch up)? This is definitely the part of FFP that will hold us back from ever competing at the top. There is one solution and only one which will never come into force. That's a wage cap. Even if one did come about , there would be so many ways to get around it.
  15. I don't expect him back at all. But boo ****ing hoo for him being sulky. Stan Collymore is actually correct when he writes "He looked as if he’d gone a bit ‘Big Time Charlie’ when he started posting moody pictures on private jets and I wouldn’t expect old-school pros like Steven Davis to accept that" although Davis has come out and said he would be integrated.
  16. If you really do need the reason explained, then I'm afraid you might be a bit simple to understand, so it would surely be best for me not to waste my time. Utter disgrace my arse.
  17. Am I alone in half not wanting us to win?
  18. Worse than Rashford?? Looking at Northern Ireland, there team is made up from players from.....Norwich, Millwall, Hearts, WBA x2, Fulham, Charlton, Saints, Blackburn, Leeds and QPR.... and they seem to be able to do quite well (only losing so far to Germany and having a draw somewhere along the line)
  19. This is dire. Slow, clueless, Long type shooting. Boring. Got Sco vs Malta on the PC, and that is much more interesting and they look so much better than we did vs them.
  20. **** defence and **** goalie
  21. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4848990/England-Southampton-international-football.html Didn't think it worthy of a new thread, but an "interesting" comparison between England and Saints!!! Are we really as dull as England?
  22. Have to agree that a bit of realism needs to be found. Why do people think that we should be where we are? What about Stoke, West Ham, West Brom, Leicester, Palace, Newcastle etc etc for example? Why do people think that we should be above them year in year out? OK, Newcastle, Palace etc seem to self destruct quite happily.
  23. Ripping off fans? LOL you tool. Did you whinge like a little girl about Stoke being a Cat A last season, for it was a Cat A as it was last game of the season? This year it is a little different as there is no Cat C. Our last game vs Man City is Cat A (when last year it was Cat B). Maybe you can whinge about fans being ripped off because there is no Cat C. Maybe you can whinge that Crystal Palace is a Cat A, because it is as it is on New Years Day.
  24. Surprised you are still interested in Saints what with their temerity to make that Aston Villa home game, the last one of the season, a Cat A and the hump you got because of it.
  25. AFAIK, and I am happy to be corrected, the club said that he was not for sale. The manager, was asked whether vD would be playing, and he said no and that his head wasn't in the right place (or words to that effect). And that's it. If that is leaking info, then so be it. All I heard ALL summer, was how Liverpool were about to sign him. How there was an agreement in place. How Anfield was his preferred destination. How vD and his agent were going to do this or that, or wanted this or that. All Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool. How with their new signing of vD, they were going to be one of the favourites for the league. Blah blah ****ing blah. If anything, the clubs stance of taking all this shît in the face of the whole media continually telling them what was going to happen is to be highly commended.
