  1. Always like a fight in a game
  2. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/10/10/premier-league-backing-away-plans-saturday-745pm-matches/ I look at this, and see what is wrong with the PL. Night games can really stiff supporters trying to get home. Is a crap non-traditional time, although I don't mind mid-week 745 KOs. But it is the no 1st or 2nd pick games being shown. ie little clubs are the ones going to be stuffed into these slots, while the Big 6 don't feature. As I say, I am well aware of the nature of the beast, the appeal of one club over another, but to keep the integrity of the competition, all clubs should be treated equally and they just aren't.
  3. I think that the most pleasure I have gained recently, is giving my 2 STs to a neighbour so that he can take his 6 year old boy to his first game (will be the WBA one). But as whelk says, things might all change if we go on a run. However that does not change my dislike for football's business side. it would just reaffirms my love of Southampton Football Club. I do though realise that they are not mutually exclusive. What ruins it for me, is the constant promotion of the PL (and CL) by the TV companies. But it is who they promote the whole time. I am well aware that the money is with the Big 6, and the constant going on and on and on about Liverpool this, Man Utd that just bores me senseless. Too much of a good thing. All good things in moderation. etc etc. It is also my fault for listening to talkSport, which I have vowed to stop doing now. They just talk about the Big 6 coupled with a equanimity towards the rest. I realise that modern football and the TV companies are intrinsically connected, highlighted by the fact that the B&HA vs EFC game is being moved to 1330 to suit the India TV demand (as it is not being shown in UK). Screw the supporters. But that's life. It also reaffirms the divide between the them and us, and turns me to think again about why be in a competition that you have no chance at all of winning. I know people counter that with the PL being better than other leagues, but the same question applies to those leagues. Whether it is 1, 2 or 6 clubs that are likely to be challenging , it still leaves 14-19 others that can't. LCFC winning the PL gives a false glimmer of hope. And let's not even bother going to the players' wages and the way they live their lives. Good money if you can get it, but.......
  4. Mané pulled his hamstring and out for 6 weeks.
  5. Excellent. Had fun in the championship. If we go there, I might even renew my ST.
  6. FGS - 6 mins of ET
  7. I'm finding it really really hard to watch Eng vs Slovenia. Fortunately I slept through most of the 1st half. This is dire, coupled with an overly turgid commentary on ITV.
  8. True, although I suspect Chelsea would be up the swanny as I think that their owner has lent the money to them in the form of interest free loans. Over £1bn worth, which if he leaves, needs repaying.
  9. I thought that Scudamore didn't want it??? Interesting though, that most fans who post views on this, are very anti even more money going to the big 6, even those supporters of the big 6. Greed seems to be the most common comment. Then they do not want a boring league of 6 vs the rest, which it already sort of it. I actually found it quite refreshing to read. Gary Neville another one who was very anti. In fact, apart from some club owners, I am not sure who is in favour of this. All I see is that there seems to be somewhat of a disconnect between clubs and supporters, not that that is really any sort of revelation. And in all this, the one person I look at with the most disdain is Karen Brady, and then by extension, the D Bros. YTF are they voting for this?? They aren't a big club and often seem to be flirting more with relegation than the top half. They rip the heart out of an old club, flog off their home and become tenants in a soulless athletics stadium.
  10. I'm not sure that anyone expected him to decide to want to stay at Saints, but some might have thought that he would be a little more judicious and tactful with what he says.
  11. Football for me is about escapism. Escape from the crap life throws in one's path. I really don't want to have to face the crap that players drum up. I realise that that is the nature of football, but still, I don't want to escape my crap to be faced with their crap.
  12. Professional is a strange word for him to use. That's why he missed half of pre-season, refused to do club commitments, sulked, wasn't ready for 15% of the season's league games and has been a complete and utter ****.

    Koeman

The way he left us, with the aggressive hand his agent played, I have to say that I hope he falls on his fat arse. He was good for us most of the time, but everyone always belittles little old Southampton by continually thinking that the grass is greener elsewhere.
  14. Alpine for manager.
  15. Who is going to score first - us or Palace?
  16. Second half vs Utd we played well. I would do that again.
  17. Just imagine, we could be Palace supporters

  19. Mine's OK (fingers crossed)

Being knocked out of Europe will not look good on his CV. Still, he has 4 more games in the league part of the Europa and might well get 12 points from them.

I did take a perverse pleasure in seeing that equaliser go in. Big Ron looked a little ruffled. Hmmmm. I wonder where Ancelotti will go now that he has been sacked by Bayern.....could it happen??? Probably not, but......
  22. CB, I know where you are coming from but it is the case that the sum of the parts are very very much less than the whole. The big boys tend to forget this in pursuit of EVEN more money, and it is likely to be the downfall of the whole thing.
  23. I do love how papers report things. Steve Parish is a long-time admirer of the former Liverpool striker Yes he was a former Liverpool striker, but.... Blackpool - 3 Macclesfield - 44 Stockport - 98 Rochdale - 64 Bristol R - 128 Saints - 207 Liverpool - 25 WBA - 20 Cardiff - 18
  24. How is Agent Fonte doing?
  25. First thing I would do is take the away supporters out of blocks 44 & 45 and use blocks 1, 2 and possibly 3 instead. I believe this is what LCFC do in their identikit stadium. http://footballtripper.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/king-power-stadium-leicester-city-seating-plan.jpg OK, this won't improve the atmosphere but it might stop the away support coming across as being so vocal. To me the problem is the Chapel Stand. I got my seats above the half way line as my old man wanted to be there. Actually they suit me because my eye sight isn't the best, and I struggle to see the Chapel goal from block 2 when I sat there for the Norwich FA Cup replay (which actually was a blessing in disguise). I digress. The middle seats are where the older lot tend to sit and they are quieter. The ends, being cheaper, are where the noisy scamps should be. Northam does its bit, as do Blocks 1 &2, but the Chapel is just like.....a chapel. How do you sort that out? Maybe get the safe standing in the lower sections of blocks 17-19 (for ease, a plan of SMS - https://www.footballticketnet.com/files/images/seating_plan/st_marys_stadium_saints_bar_:__seating_plan_footballticketnet.com.png) The danger would be that it would take away from the Northam.
