It's a bit of a let-down, isn't it? I too have spasmodic emotions.

I was told (by someone who was there) that NC said it at a supporters meeting at the time of the purchase. So as you say, it's just a rumour and I suppose there's only one way that we would find out if it were true.

I thought that too but apparently there is a £50m trust fund set aside in a Swiss bank which goes to the club in just such an eventuality.

Very interesting, thanks for the link, DellDays, I've just watched it. It reminds me in some ways of the Thetis that flooded off Anglesey during the war. I once read a book about it and they managed to get the stern raised out of the water but only after 4 men had escaped through the hatches. My father told me that once it had been found and partially raised the general feeling was that they had all been saved, but alas not. Last November I visited the former secret Russian submarine base at Balaclava. That was spooky, walking through what had recently been one of the most secure military bases in the world. http://www.artificialowl.net/2008/08/former-classified-underground-submarine.html

Ta. That would make sense.

Just a thought.... I know that the PL dock 9 points for administration because they play 38 games to our 46, but if (make that when) they do get relegated and assuming that similar rules will apply to them to those applied to us, they will be playing in the CCC with -9 points carried over, and 46 games to play next season. Could the Football League increase the penalty?

Is the loan window open for another month (or so)?
-
Yup, done that . I personally always start counting at zero.

Aren't you confusing your cardinals with your ordinals? The page labeled 200 is the 200th page, the same as page 1 was the first. And don't get me started on the millenium. JC wasn't born in year 1, 0 or anywhere near that, what we were all celebrating was the clock ticking over to all the 0s. If you waited a year then you must have missed a hell of a party!

I suspect that non-payment for a third time amounts to breach of contract so if that's the case they can walk away at any moment. Of course, they would then need to find another club to take them and as the transfer window ends in 83 minutes that might be difficult, unless they count as free agents, perhaps.

Quite the opposite. More clouds equals less heating.

Saints V Stockport County - Post Match Reaction
Whitey Grandad replied to St Landrew's topic in The Saints
Yup, I agree. If we leave one up then they have to leave two back to cover. -
I've not watched it yet, but I shall. Runaway torpedo, wasn't it?

5pm Monday 1st February is what is always quoted. It's because of the Bank Holiday on the 1st January, I suppose.

I used to work with an ex-submariner (this was 1974) who said that some boatmates could tell if there were diving, even if it was only one degree.

Isn't it amazing, the foreshortening effects of these telephoto lenses!

A bit about Storrie here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1247386/Patrick-Collins-Salute-power-glory-golden-sporting-era.html In 2008-2009 he was on £1,320,000 a year!

No, "St. James's" is correct. It is the street of St. James, although there are some suggestions that when it is the possessive of a personal name that ends in 's' then the 's' after the apostrophe can be dropped. (I have used quotation marks instead of apostrophes so as to make the meaning clear). A useful guide: apostrophes are never used to indicate a plural.

One Sunday afternoon a few years ago I was being driven back to Hamburg airport through southern Denmark when I saw a women on a bike cycling the other way. She was stark Bollock naked. Bent (who was driving) said that it happens all the time.

That's important but there have been other benefits. AP has had the opportunity to play some of the 'fringe' players and find out more about his squad. If we do get to Wembley the experience will be very useful practice for the players in case we ever do get there in the playoffs.

... or to boldly split infinitives... (Fowler's 'Modern English Usage' is quite entertaining on this topic) For me, correct grammar and syntax is very important. Anyone who has ever left a character out of a C program knows what the consequences can be. I would never wish to discourage anybody from expressing their views because they felt that they might be 'pulled up' because of their writing, but there are occasions where it can make all the difference. I totally agree with you. I also think that it should be "50s and 60s"
