  1. More significant that moral values is the fact that they have signed a player and increased their liabilities immediately after a court has found that they are almost certainly trading insolvently. The extra money that they pay in wages could just have easily been paid back to the taxman.
  2. I've been kept in for over an hour at other grounds, why is ours the only one where the away fans get preference?
  3. Amen to that. I would be content with steady season-on-season improvement.
  4. But that means that we can wave goodbye to them as we swap divisions. We might never play them again, even if they survive.
  5. That's a very good point. Overall, not a bad result considering we were playing our reserve team.
  6. I totally agree, but all we can do is get the best players that we can for this division, then get promoted and get the best players for the next. A journey of a thousand miles...
  7. I'm sure that must be against League rules. Something about having a financial interest in more than one club?
  8. We owe them more than they owe us. They get 45% of the proceeds.
  9. Some people have no class.
  10. It's a), but the middle vowel is shorter than 'ay'.
  11. It affects liquidity, not solvency.
  12. So they have chosen to give money to a new player instead of HMRC? That'll put the settlement figure up by a few million.
  13. Nej tak
  14. Again, from the Fa website: Grant charged Thursday, 11 February, 2010 Portsmouth manager Avram Grant has been charged with improper conduct. The charge relates to Grant’s behaviour towards referee Kevin Friend at the conclusion of the first half of Portsmouth’s match against Sunderland at Fratton Park on 9 February. Grant has until 6pm on 18 February to admit or deny the charge. A Regulatory Commission will hear the charge by or before 5 March.
  15. From the FA site: Portsmouth FCRICARDO ROCHA-AZEVEDO09/02/2010 Suspended from all first team football until the Club have completed 1 first team match for a Sending Off in a match played on 09/02/2010.
  16. They're always the first to know.
  17. The TV money pays Storrie's salary for two months.
  18. There's also the TV money, £247,500 each club.
  19. Liquidation would be a different kettle of fish....
  20. I think you'll find that's the job of HMRC.
  21. And they lose regularly at such places.
  22. I was just reporting what I had read in the papers, but I expect that they know less than us.
  23. The PAYE is legally due irrespective of the VAT. They cannot choose to withhold it because they dispute the VAT.
  24. The stadium is security against a loan that he gave to the club. The club defaulted on repayments to him which invoked a clause in the loan agreement that means that he takes ownership of the club. Then follows the 'fit and proper person' test before the PL allow him to own it, if I understand it all correctly.
  25. Heart says Saints win, head says lose by a couple of goals. In cases like this I always look at each team and try to estimate the number of goals that they will get. I reckon they'll get 2 or 3 and we'll get 1 or 2, but who knows? Maybe playing in a full stadium will get to their players and they'll be full of nerves. If we can get the first couple of goals then maybe their heads will drop knowing that they not even be employed when the next round comes along.
