  1. Oh dear. We're not bitter, are we?
  2. She'd done her job and was past her sell-by date.
  3. 45% I believe, of the proceeds after matchday costs. 10% goes to the FA pot for distribution.
  4. I'll ask me mum. She knows everything.
  5. Thanks for that. Is it really 2011?
  6. So how would he compare with, Churchill, say?
  7. Technology's not the answer. What we need are better refs. Saturday's ref might have had his view blocked by Schneiderlin but he should have been better positioned so that it wasn't. I'm sure that the assessor will have mentioned it but it won't help us now. Our forwards' mistakes were more significant the the referee's.
  8. A bit like Mike Riley's first premiership game at Leicester when 'we was robbed'.
  9. I suppose the only other indirect free-kick offences in your own area must be dangerous play and anything which needs a yellow card, such as dissent or unsporting behaviour. Not many people know that you cannot score an own-goal straight from your own direct free-kick or corner kick, nor that you cannot be offside from a goal-kick.
  10. So all that can save them now is a huge injection of money, or their players volunteering to take massive pay cuts. Any chance of that?
  11. This is scaremongering. Even the direst prophets don't expect it to happen. Don't worry about it.
  12. Obstruction is rarely given, if ever. There are technical offences which warrant an indirect free-kick, such as a 'backpass'.
  13. Point taken.
  14. Karl Marx actually (and it was religion). Orson Wells was also wrong about the cuckoo clock.
  15. You and I agree.
  16. The question is 'was he tripped' or 'did he trip'? The first is a foul, the second isn't. I can't speak for the rest of the match but this was a very poor decision, and I speak as a member of the referees' club.
  17. Are we safe from relegation yet?
  18. The fall of the Soviet Empire and the loss of its subsidies had a far greater effect on Cuba than the American trade embargo.
  19. Can you see them playing in orange instead of blue? They'd probably change their name to Easymouth too.
  20. How do you measure the degree of a country's capitalism/socialism/communism? Is it by the proportion of GDP that the government controls? In my view, once it gets over 50% that country is more communist than capitalist.
  21. I'm also learnig italian. You're never too old to learn something new. It beats watching television these days.
  22. Indeed it was! I used to play for the IBA in a team of 5. I always played white because of my gung-ho attacking instincts whereas our accountant used to play black because he was naturally cautious.
  23. How can you possibly tell? Back to Michael Foot, I'm sure he would have loved to have been part of the debate that we're having now.
  24. If it makes you feel better, the Navy vetoed the toilet bowl because our new carriers would scrape their bulwarks on it when they docked.
  25. It's even worse than that. Take a look at this: http://www.sciencephoto.com/images/imagePopUpDetails.html?id=690550330 The amount of water and air are so small that it can't be true, can it?
