I remember discussing this with Ivan Golac. He said that as a manager he liked to leave three players up front so that the other team would have to keep four back to counter them.
I could have written that myself
"...the man regarded in his homeland as Arsene Wenger's protegé" ? I see a solution coming up. If only we could persuade Wenger to stand down.
Any paying customer has a right to demand and expect some sort of effort and entertainment. Otherwise you might as well take a crossword or puzzle book to the game.
These games have been especially poor. Man City, WBA, Bournemouth, Hull
Yes Bertrand, but his was a subtle glancing header. We are lacking an extra dimension if we always have to play on the ground. Austin and J-Rod would add an extra option, when available.
It's a observation. Far more supporters watch home games than away ones. If you have a season ticket and don't/can't do away games then you will have a totally different view of the season than someone who mainly goes to away games. For home supporters this has been a crap season with boring football and a desperate lack of goals. If all you care about is league position and points then maybe attractive football in front of 30,000 of your paying customers is not your priority.
Can you separate home and away figures from that? There is a big difference between our home and away results. Against Hull at halftime we had a record of zero shots. That's not zero on target, that's zero shots in total. And one corner.
I vaguely remember the Goon shows from my childhood (born 1949) but the music never had any significance for me. Having listened to it it sounds like a jazz piece to me and is likely to have been composed by Geldray himself. I don't recognise it at all.
Those performances you list were away games. At home we have been generally dull and boring. No season ticket holder is going to form an opinion based on away games.
No particular problem playing just the one up front but failing to support that player is feeble. I counted several times when the ball was played through to Gabbi who then turned round to see eight Hull players and none of ours.
