Saints 0 Man Utd 0 - Buildup, Match and over-reactions Thread
Whitey Grandad replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
All very true. It's a sad reflection but I don't even get excited about going to these sorts of games anymore. There's no pace or intensity to them. One of the saddest sights last night was thirty minutes before kickoff when the United players were warming up. There were about 100 spectators lined up down by the hoardings on the northern Kingsland side taking photos and selfies of their United heroes. -

Yes, this is the point. The penalty was a good save but the others were all well off the ground and mostly long range. -

I pay for two tickets and take my grandson and I've missed a couple of early games. Each goal that I've seen has cost me £122.83 -

It's the first time ever that we've gone four home games in a row without scoring (in the top league) -
And all the others? (nobody likes a clever ****)
-
If you actually went to a home game then you might understand. We don't play attacking football at home. Now do you get it?
-
In the famous game against Newcastle when MLT score that great double Branfoot was about to take Matty off and had the cards ready for the substitution just before Matt scored the first of his two goals. On the TV recording you can see Branfoot turn round and say "Moods. Sit down".
-
It was somewhat tongue in cheek, but I would put Wotte and Poortvliet below both of them. Branfoot was a reason why I got our season tickets. So many had given up theirs that there was a wide choice of where to sit. Our home game against Hull was as bad as anything I have ever had to endure. There was one midweek game at the Dell against West Ham that ended 0-0 that comes close but at least in that the players actualy showed some effort.

Poach, boil, roast, simmering are all too good for him

From all that I've read Puel doesn't like to play that way. There has been no evidence of it (at home) since the EFL final.

I didn't boycott them and I was there - with my grandson. There were worse than dire and I don't accept that watching turgid games should be part of our remit. We were in the Itchen freezing our butts off for Norwich and bored to tears and in the Chapel for Sunderland straining to see if anybody was actually moving about. The Arsenal game was sold under false pretences in my opinion. There was no need to put out our reserves and I can't forget the looks on all the faces of the poor youngsters who had been taken by their mums and dads and forced to sit through that. They hadn't gone to see us get stuffed by Arsenal. I have just paid £1474 for our two seats and I don't want to have to sit through another season like this. I love football and I'd like to see some next year.

Were you watching Hull, WBA, Arsenal and Norwich in the FA Cup? And these weren't isolated examples.
-
One more time..... It's not all about points!!! As a business you need to please your home customers. Some sense of ambition would be nice, something to drag your attention away from the seagulls and the clouds. Why do you think season ticket sales are dopwn?
-
To be honest I wouldn't even toss them a glance. It's not just goals that have been missing, it's any sign of attacking intent or ambition.
-
You obviously have not had to sit through a season of home games. Then you would know what nonsense was. Football is not a game of statistics.
-
The football world haven't had to sit through this season at home.
-
Puel is Branfoot without the aerial dimension.
-
I get all that but there's only a handful of points between us all.
-
I really can't get excited over whether we finish 8th or 12th to be honest.
-
Hmmm I don't think any investor would let her keep 100%
-
Yes I did! I wanted us to play expansive football with effort and movement. Anyone who didn't actually go to home games might base their opinion on league position alone but a points total in the mid 40s is pretty feeble. And we lost the cup final.

Spot on. Far too much first time passes and shots in there. They should take a couple of touches and play the ball back every time. -
If our players are not up for every game then we have a serious problem. Hull's journey down was a lot was a lot more stressful that ours.
-
Conserve energy/ How long does it take to replace between games? Why haven't we had this problem in previous years?
-
Chelsea away is hardly a long drag. There's a big difference between the disruption of an away game and a couple of home game a few days apart. If our players can't cope with two games in a week then our fitness regime is not up to the job.
