  1. Hull? West Brom? I won't go on... 'actually scoring goals and preventing them' ...apart from that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
  2. More like night and night if you ask me
  3. I give you the Brazil team from 1970: They learnt their skills on rough wasteground, as did Stankley Matthews, Bobby Charlton and George Best.
  4. I think that calling it 'exciting' is going a bit far
  5. Paul Tisdale at Exeter? Not that I'm proposing him as our manager.
  6. Only if you're standing on your head and whistling out of you ar5e (I'm too old for that sort of thing these days)
  7. I put the paucity of home goals down to a reluctance to assault the opposition in numbers of more than one. Liverpool at home was a good result but I have seen many better over the years.
  8. 'Lowest form of wit'
  9. Inter Milan was a great night but even then we relied on an own goal from them.
  10. Ah, the cup final? Yes, whilst we put up a good show I never really felt that we were going to beat them, possibly down to our poor defensive centre.
  11. Thanks for the details. It's always better to hear from someone who was actually there.
  12. Well I think our European campaign this season was very underwhelming, no away goals in three games, but even then we'd only have progressed to the next round and based on our earlier performances I wouldn't have expected much from us. I was, of course, thinking about next season and we are miles away from qualifying for that.
  13. Interest that you thought Rodriguez was poor. The report in The Times this morning rated him as '8', more than any other of our players.
  14. They were at that time. The Championship didn't start until 2004/2005 season. I still call them divisions 1 to 4
  15. I agree with you, except that I went to Milan instead of Prague. The only away game I could do was the win at Arsenal and the vast majority of the home games have been turgidly depressingly negative affairs. And we haven't even got close to qualifying for Europe.
  16. No, it is quite possible. Some clubs like to leave the keeper with clear space around him, others like to pack the six yard area, every club has its own system.
  17. Europe? This is the first time in three seasons that we haven't qualified for Europe.
  18. Not Forster's fault. We had Bertrand and Long hanging on his shirt sleeves so they should have put him off. In the Sunderland game Pickford comes for the free kick and doesn't get there. It could just be that when we defend corners Forster is told to stay on his line.
  19. How do you know he's paid big bucks to score goals? If the management are happy with his overall contribution and are happy to pay for it then that's what matters. It's the difference he makes to the team that counts. Sky commentators were making this point earlier.
  20. ...yet very effective.
  21. There's obviously a big difference between home and away as evidenced by the goals scored and corresponding results.
  22. I expect there's a big difference between home and away figures. I haven't recognised any of those stats in our home games. No shots at all against Hull in the first half, for example.
  23. No probs. Your mistake is understandable, missing a penalty isn't.
  24. 18 yards might be excusable, that would be the edge of the penalty area. The penalty spot is only 12 yards from the goal, and the goal is 8 yards wide.
  25. I've just got back in and I'm trying to order a Chinese. I have a selection problem.
