By holding his flag in his right hand he indicates that it should be a foul in our favour. Atkinson seemed puzzled for a fraction of a second before showing 'advantage'. The assistant could have pointed to his chest pocket to indicate that a card could be involved but what are the mikes for?

I would be surprised if he started.

We are far too nice. They were definitely out to unsettle us. -

Long was waving to the bench a few minutes before being substituted. -
Yes indeed. There was an air of inevitability about it.

Davis was for a tug-back which is a mandatory yellow, I believe. I agree he was too lenient with the others, Willian in particular. -
You are far too simplistic. Do you really believe that if we left the EU we would be £10bn better off? Leaving aside the probability that we would still need to pay an access fee that sum would be overshadowed by the loss in revenue from a weaker economy. Then there is the issue of our credit rating and the interest rate that we would have to pay on our borrowings which we get mainly from the... er... EU. Immigration will not fall to zero either. Your initial response was to the issue that there are no statistics nor projections relating to the OUT campaign and this remains the case.

One thing that Atkinson can take some credit for. -
What is it with these silly flicks and why have they not been beaten out of him before now? Somebody once told me that everything in Italy is 'theatre'. Maybe he's just trying to be a primadonna if you can use that word for a man. A 'pavone' might be more accurate.

Very strange. As a linesman you are told when flagging for a foul to raise the flag in the hand that indicates which team should benefit so that the referee can decide whether to play advantage. I was watching their interaction very carefully yesterday and it seemed to me that Atkinson looked a bit puzzled by the flag and hadn't seen the kick and just assumed that it was for the initial incident. Bizarre. He overruled both of his assistants which is poor man-management, especially when they're correct. I would have given a penalty against Cahill. I don't know what more he could have done to deserve it apart from the handball and cleaning-out of Austin.

This bit about 'the rest of the world' makes me hold my head in my hands. It cost a hell of a lot more to sell to the rest of the world than it does to sell to your neighbours. That's if they want to buy from us. Are you for real?

Eurovision is nothing to do with Europe. There... I bet that surprised you!

'tis a fine line that they tread. -
We are paying, we have paid, or we will pay? There is more than one figure in that article. I see that you chose the highest. Anyway, we were talking about what the statistics would be if we were to leave. This was my point. We know what we've got now but we have absolutely no idea what the figures would be if we left.

Turkey is not a Balkan state, nothing like it???

Your figure for net contribution is too high.

Of course, the Outers won't have any statistics to help their case. It's all based on hope and wishful thinking.

A thought occurred to me this morning as I threw my copy of The Daily Mail in the bin. What is the likelihood that all those (Eastern) Europeans who were thinking of coming here but who could not be bothered until now rushing over before the referendum because they fear that they might not be able to later?
